Adding reference to Wikipedia articles[edit]

Just follow the steps as shown, and fill in the details

Hello Ajeebtha! Please do not forget to add references from reliable sources for the content you add to Wikipedia. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Adding well-formatted references is easy.

  1. While editing any article or a wikipage, on the top of the edit window you will see a toolbar which says "cite". Click on it.
  2. Then click on "templates".
  3. Choose the most appropriate template and then fill all relevant details. You can start with the field (e.g. URL) that has a magnifying glass icon and then click the magnifying glass to automatically populate the fields for you.

This will add a well-formatted reference, which will allow other people to see where you got your information from. You can read more about this at Help:Edit toolbar, or watch this video: File:RefTools.ogv. Thanks and regards. —DBigXray 07:51, 1 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, re: these changes, IMDb is not generally considered a reliable source by the Wikipedia community. WP:RS/IMDB, WP:RS, WP:TVFAQ. IMDb is user-contributed, meaning anyone can submit content to IMDb. IMDb doesn't vet all of the content that is submitted. This means the source is inherently unreliable. Other examples of user-generated sources that should not be used are discussion forums, unverified Twitter accounts, Wikia.com and even Wikipedia itself. Please see WP:RS for more information on what does qualify as a reliable source. Please note also that improperly sourced content suggesting that the film is inspired from other films can come across as a subtle accusation of plagiarism, which is why it's important that it be properly sourced. If you read further along in the article, a Times of India reviewer noted similarities between the film and other films, but that observation is attributed directly to them and is presented as an observation, not as a fact. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:26, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

February 2017[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Kaabil, without citing a reliable source using an inline citation that clearly supports the material. The burden is on the person wishing to keep in the material to meet these requirements, as a necessary (but not always sufficient) condition. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Diff: [1][2] Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:43, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's clear apparent that Kaabil is inspired from the three movies. Any person who has seen all 4 movies knows. 3 movies spoken about were made in 1984 1985 1986 respectively. So it's not plagiarism. :It's inspiration. Public must be made aware of the fact. Why are you removing basic fact unnecessarily. It's openly available. All 3 movies are for people to see. Online articles too acknowledge that :Kaabilis inspired from these 3 movies.
Hope you are not some fan who is trying to hide that Kaabil is inspired one!Ajeebtha (talk) 16:51, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It's interpretive, so it requires a reliable source. Otherwise, it's considered original research. If it's so apparent, presumably there would be sufficient references to bolster the claim. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:09, 1 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Muqabla (1979 film)[edit]

Hello, Ajeebtha,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Muqabla (1979 film) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Muqabla (1979 film) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Problematic edit[edit]

Hi there, your edit here reintroduced problematic content into the article that had previously been fixed.

  • typographical errors like "it's" when we mean "its", and the director's name being misspelled Bhansalis when it should be Bhansali
  • a misquote of the word "grand" when the source says "grander"
  • ambiguous (and unsourced) language about Ranveer Singh's antagonist role
  • your edit removes a reference supporting content about a vandalism attack
  • your edit restored the fluffy POV statement describing a critic as "reputed"
  • your edit re-introduced an unsourced assertion that the film is a remake of another film.

Please don't revert changes or restore older versions of articles like this, as you create more problems than you intend to fix. Your edit has been reverted as it is overall not constructive. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:14, 3 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Padmavati (film) - Please stop resubmitting contested content.[edit]

Hi there, please stop resubmitting this. Another editor has contested this, so your recourse is to seek consensus for inclusion by opening a discussion on the article's talk page. Resubmitting it as you've done here and here and here without consensus is considered disruptive, and if you submit it again without consensus, you will have your editing privileges interrupted. Note also that the fundamental problem with the assertion, is that the source you used doesn't say that the 2017 Padmavati film is an "unofficial remake" of the 1963 Tamil film. The reference, which was written in 2015, only says that another film on the subject exists. Your conclusion that it is a remake, is pure conjecture. There's also no clear reason to bring up another film in this article. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:16, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ajeebtha nationnext.in does not appear to me as a reliable source (WP:RS) they probably have copied this content from wikipedia to puslish it there see WP:CIRCULAR--DBigXray 18:51, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

But who was producer? Director can pay only if producer permits. Ajeebtha (talk) 18:53, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ajeebtha, I agree but you will need a reliable source such as trusted newspaper or a book which says that Rajesh Khanna said so and so. Unless we have such a solid source we cannot mention it in the article. Even if Khanna was the producer, it is quite possible he had left the entire decision of writer on his Director. the Rediff interview article where Kader Khan talks about this incident does not mention Khanna. So I don't believe Khanna was involved. If so, then Kader Khan would have known and mentioned this in that interview or somewhere.
  • Please find a good source for that information before adding to the article. You can use the Talk:Kader Khan for any further discussion. cheers. --DBigXray 18:58, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Shreyas Iyer, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. Thank you.
