Robson Lowe

For one than a year this article Robson Lowe about one of philately greatest people get a csd tag just at the same time that someone start edit warring with a chunk of cut and paste text that is likely a copyvio. Please remove the csd template - there is no need for it. This person clearly passes CDS A7. I am reverting the copyvio. Thanks ww2censor (talk) 00:52, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Ok. As you say, the bulk of the article was a copyright violation, and in light of the revert in addition to further research I agree with you ALLOCKE|talk 00:57, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
It was done while I was posting here. I have asked an admin to block him for edit warring. Thanks for the quick resolution. ww2censor (talk) 00:59, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Re:

"Hi, the recent edit you made to The Suite Life of Zack & Cody recurring characters has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. AL LOCKE|talk) 01:03, 4 April 2008 (UTC)"

Well....How about I say "they sent him down something that resembled a whole ham" Because I just reviewed that episode, and he says that "one time I got a whole ham!....At least I think it was a ham. [laughter]". So it could actually had been anything. --Obaidz96 (talk) 01:08, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

That would make more sense, and would scan properly; I concur. ALLOCKE|talk 01:12, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
I've applied the edit, thanks for your input Obaidz96. ALLOCKE|talk 01:28, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

thanks

Thanks for the star. I saw he had made an edit here while checking his contribs after warning him for "hitting" my talk page. I figured he would come here too because you had also warned him for an unrelated vandalism. J.delanoygabsadds 01:32, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Good call, and thanks again :) ALLOCKE|talk 01:33, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Dude, what "forum"?

A guy who thinks a book may be a war crime says me to "seek consenus".

Then, I do this, and another chap removed THIS TOO, babbling something about "forums".

God, I love Wikipedia. --84.234.60.154 (talk) 21:16, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

The addition you made to the talk page on Torture Central didn't appear to be seeking consensus, it appeared to be stating your opinion about an issue unconnected to the article itself, and in an unconstructive (verging on argumentative) manner. I see now what you were saying; you disagree with the inclusion of the article in the category of Iraq war crimes. I've replied here. ALLOCKE|talk 21:23, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

And I relied too.

It's not a war crime. Book, individuals, organizations, are not a war crimes. Incidents are. (The tribunals and criminals have their own categories.) --84.234.60.154 (talk) 21:30, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Categories are used to link articles containing information pertaining to relating subjects. WP:Categorization describes the function of categories as follows:

"Categories (along with other features like cross-references, lists, and infoboxes) help readers find information, even if they don't know that it exists or what it's called."

Somebody reading up on war crimes committed in Iraq would find further interest and research from the book described in this article. With the greatest respect I'm reverting the article to include the category. As we've now reached the third revert I would suggest dispute resolution if you still disagree with me :) ALLOCKE|talk 21:38, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  1. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Iraq_war_crimes category
  2. One will find out more from Human Rights Watch or Amnesty International than from sensationalist memoirs of some unknown dude who claims to being one of the abusers or whatever.

On a side note, I also enjoy Monty Python. --84.234.60.154 (talk) 21:49, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, one would find out more from those sources, but to exclude an article from a category based on the weight and bulk of other articles also in the category would negate the entire point of Wikipedia categorization - to include all related articles and allow readers to find similar articles that would not otherwise be connected. I appreciate your spirited sparring and think you'll make a valuable asset to the Wiki once you've established a more succinct understanding of how the WP:Categories works. Please don't take that as criticism or disparagement, I certainly don't mean you to beat a brave retreat ALLOCKE|talk 22:00, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Help request

{{helpme}} I remember reading somewhere that it's possible to amalgamate my accounts on meta wiki/wiki commons/etc. - can anyone confirm this, and tell me how? Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated. ALLOCKE|talk 00:18, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

This is only possible for admin accounts at this time. It may be available for all users sometime in the future. Alexfusco5 00:25, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick reply, I thought that might be the case. Have you got a link to the WP page for the merge request by any chance? Nevermind, found it! ALLOCKE|talk 00:28, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Gilbert's Syndrome

Hi I'm wondering if you can tell me where you saw about Michael Fielding having Gilbert's syndrome. Can you hyperlink or quote what you read as I can't find verifiable evidence anywhere (not that I doubt your word but I really am interested to see definitive proof). If you find it, the information about Michael Fielding having it still needs to be added to his page. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.215.149.98 (talk) 13:00, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I think it was in the commentary on one of the DVD's, but as I haven't the time to watch them again I haven't added it into the article. Sorry I can't be more precise, the article was some time ago now. Let me know if you find a source :) - ALLOCKE|talk 22:43, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Ketamine, urinary side effects

Al, pls leave these fact tags in per wp:medmos; the BMJ ref is a mere letter/communication and seems to be anecdotal evidence with no secured causality and mechanism provided. Per wp:medmos I would like to see a scientific agreement on these facts with some PMIDs provided. A mere observation in a small biased collective like that without clear ethiology is not enough per wp:medmos (really read that). Greetings and merry xmas or xnukkah, underline applicable. 70.137.136.112 (talk) 02:27, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to ARS!

Lifebuoy

Hi, Al.locke, welcome to the Article Rescue Squadron WikiProject! We are a growing community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to identifying and rescuing articles and content that have been nominated for deletion. Every day hundreds of articles are deleted, many rightfully so. But many concern notable subjects and are poorly written, ergo fixable, and should not be deleted. We try to help these articles and content to quickly improve and address the concerns of why they are proposed for deletion. This covers a lot of ground and your help is appreciated!

Some points that may be helpful:
  • WikiProject Article rescue squadron's (ARS) main aim is to help improve Wikipedia articles and content. If someone seeks help, please try to assist if you are able. Likewise feel free to ask for help, advice and clarification.
  • Sometimes we are asked to help rescue articles by people new to our notability and sourcing policies. If the article is not fixable we can help explain why and offer alternatives. Sometimes editors who are new to Wikipedia may perceive the deletion of "their" article as discouraging. Encourage civility and maybe even {{welcome}} them if they have only been templated with deletion messages.
  • The Articles for deletion (AfD) discussion is where the concerns regarding each article are brought up and addressed. To be an effective member of the project you need to know how AfD works as well as how to improve articles. Introduction to deletion process gives a good overview and some good advice for newcomers to deletion.
  • Our primary work is improving Wikipedia articles and content. A more dynamic list with article links and descriptions are located at our rescue list.
  • If you have another language besides English, please consider adding yourself to the list of translators available. Articles and sources that use non-English languages often need translation for those of us who cannot translate for ourselves.
  • Many important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is recommended that you watchlist it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the talk page, and we will be happy to help you.

And once again — Welcome! ~~~~

7MGE

Hello, my name is Eric Taylor and i live in Coos Bay, Oregon U.S.A. I was wondering if you could give me some advise? I have a 1991 Toyota Cressida and it is bone stock. I need to know where you got those aftermarket parts, like the air intake, etc. I am having the darndest luck trying to find all this aftermarket stuff that i see on other peoples cars. I wanna have some FUN too dang it. Anyway im looking for a turbo, cold air intake system, exhaust piping, super chip(for the computer), and any hints and tips i can get along the way. Thank you for your time and effort, hope to hear from ya soon. My e-mail address is "phatlvr69@yahoo.com". Thnx.66.190.243.98 (talk) 03:18, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

I've emailed you Eric, but in case you didn't get it I've copied it here:
Hi Eric,
Thanks for your message about the 7MGE engine, glad to hear you're wanting to modify your Cressida, it's a great engine and there's a lot that can be done with it.
I'm from England and so I can't give you specific help on where to find the parts you're after. As I'm sure you know the 7MGE is the same engine that's in the N/A mk3 Supra, and so I would suggest looking for performance parts for that instead of searching for the Cressida, as it's a much more popular choice for tuning and the engines are almost identical. I found the guys over at www.mkiiisupra.net and www.supramania.com to be very helpful. I'd also recommend checking out www.fensport.co.uk and www.7mpower.com.
In terms of liberating more power from the engine and having more fun then the things to start with are obviously a decent air filter (get rid of the airbox and use a cone filter directly onto the MAF) and a free-flowing exhaust. The air filter is readily available on eBay for very little money, but the exhaust may need to be custom fabricated for your chassis. If you're thinking of turbocharging it then all the necessary parts are readily available - CT26 turbo, 7MGTE manifold/elbow/downpipe, ECU, MAF, etc. In terms of power upgrades turbocharging is definitely the route to take, however it might work out cheaper to just put the complete 7MGTE engine in place of yours, and use the R154 Supra manual transmission instead of the Cressida's auto box which is significantly weaker. I currently have a Nissan 200SX s14a turbo that I converted from auto to manual, and by far the hardest bit was mounting the clutch pedal assembly, but it was definitely worth the effort.
If there's anything else I can help you with then feel free to email me back.
