Degree-of-difference moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Degree-of-difference, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. This article reads like a news item, which isn't appropriate for an encyclopaedia entry. Also, it seems to consist of fairly close paraphrasing of the sources. There are too few citations, making it difficult to know where the various statements come from. And last but not least, the article is riddled with grammar and language problems, requiring copy editing throughout. For all these reasons, I've moved the article to drafts, as it's not ready for publishing. --DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:01, 12 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you placed one source tags on a number of anolis species (like Anolis triumphalis)....technically you are correct, but many of them have clickable references in the wikidata links at the bottom of the page...not sure if that makes a difference for you....Pvmoutside (talk) 17:44, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aditya Dubey requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 2022 San Francisco Giants

[edit]

How come you flagged this page for subpar content? I looked at some of the other 2022 MLB team pages which have about the same amount of information as the one that I created and they don’t have the same subpar content flag. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 18:43, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The tag i have used does not mean subpar content. it only means that you should provide more sources. Aloolkaparatha (talk) 16:46, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate move

[edit]

Please do not proxy-delete articles by moving them to draft-space, as you did with A New Idea of India. The article was PROD'd, which was rejected. The next appropriate venue is a discussion with the article creator, or WP:AFD. Stlwart111 22:59, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Oops!!! Sorry, I missed WP:NBOOKS guidelines with some other one but thanks to correct it.Aloolkaparatha (talk) 15:41, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. It may still not be notable and may need to go to AFD. But moving it after a rejected PROD becomes an issue. Stlwart111 00:20, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SD nomination

[edit]

Please take another look at Midnight Traveler and tell me whether you think it "contain[s] copyrighted material with no credible assertion of public domain, fair use, or a compatible free license, where there is no non-infringing content on the page worth saving" as WP:G12 says. I'm willing to cut down the quotes if you think they're excessive, but I'm at a loss as to why one would think G12 applies. Nardog (talk) 13:20, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Now consulting the deleting admin: User talk:Anthony Bradbury#Midnight Traveler. Nardog (talk) 15:45, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nardog, still the last para is completely copied. Please fix the page.Aloolkaparatha (talk) 15:58, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done that, only because it improved the article from an editorial standpoint, not because there was any legal obligation to do so. Otherwise we would have to delete thousands of articles that have an equal or more proportion of quotation, and Wikiquote would not exist.
Earwig's tool doesn't give you an end-all-be-all verdict on whether an article should be deleted. Otherwise there's no point in letting humans use it and we can let EarwigBot do all the job. Please seek a more qualitative approach to evaluating new articles in the future. And consider what I wrote on the admin's talk. Nardog (talk) 07:02, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ref improve for Phyllis Barber

Hey, I noticed that you added the refimprov tag to Phyllis Barber, which I created. What did you have in mind with that? Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 15:32, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Rachel_Helps_(BYU) I added that tag because there is a lot much information without any source of them. Kindly, add sources of your information.Aloolkaparatha (talk) 17:13, 31 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
All of the information on the page is cited. Information in the lead does not need to be cited if it appears in the body of the page with a citation, per MOS:LEAD. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 17:43, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

(sorry for the context-less notification, I wanted to create this first: WP:AN#Elmar Baxşəliyev re-blocked for copyright violations, 28 recent articles remain (permanent link). You have done nothing wrong, and the specific article may even be fine. I just wanted to make sure that each of these articles gets a second review with the copyright issues in mind.) ~ ToBeFree (talk) 15:45, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:04, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

[edit]

Hi Aloolkaparatha. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. -- TNT (talk • she/they) 01:13, 10 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

National varieties of English

[edit]

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page BBC One, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you.  AxG /   13:20, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
