User:Blnguyen has unfairly targeted me for the second time in a fortnight, in relation to the same article Telugu script.

1) This User unprotected an article, which was in dire need of protection and carried out some edits, 2 of which were reverted by me. This user should have in fact recused himself from this article's editing due to a conflict of interest. The user says "rm dubious pictures" in his edit summary, deleting only on the basis of suspicion. This was not explicit enough, due to which I reverted the edits twice.

2) Later, User:Zamkudi came along and reverted my last edit and explicitly mentioned " remove copyrighted images that are not licensed under GFDL per source " in the edit summary. Though I noticed this I decided not to undo/revert the edit after reading the explicit reason cited in the summary.

Unfair

Very unfair. I am at a loss to understand what is happening? People who ganged up to create highly biased articles are going scot-free and users who are committed and impassionate are being victimized. I think justice in Wikipedia is a mirage.Kumarrao 10:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I read your post on User:Kumarrao's page. I'm fine with it except "Guntur newspaper", which was in bad taste. Just FYI most of the Telugus in the US are from or originally from Guntur or Guntur district.

Please read this carefully Mr. Dinesh. The way some users (may not be you) are hell-bent on having their way, for nothing except ego-boosting , in the virtual world, is simply shocking and beyond my comprehension. Out of the little that we take out, of our precious time for Wikipedia, every other day we get to see this nonsense of this user fighting that user... Wikipedia is so vast that there are so many articles in dire need of help, and we are sparring over these petty issues.

These articles are only for conveying some information to people, most of whom would for sure miss out the facts we're (may not acually be us. using it generally) fighting for. I'm really at a loss to understand. Please help me if you I can, I doubt if you can, like me. Couldn't the sparring and duelling users collaborate and do something meaningful in Wikipedia. To tell you the truth I've just learnt to do basic reading of Telugu. I normally edit a vast number of topics and entered into this mess only because of this unfortunate warring. With that kind of admins,Wikipedia is surely doomed.He is helping those bunch of guys in making Wikipedia a kind of Private Place.I once had one user under question, but then that time he was quite convincing and escaped with the title of a Good Faith User.He has always troubled me and saying so, I doubt him to be a member of Kannada Raksha Vedhi, which want to get Karnataka rid of of other linguastic groups such as Tamilians, Telugus, Malayalees,Marathies etc.They also want to super impose Kannada on native Tuluvas,Kodavas etc.I see a Language fundamentalist in him. You can find it out too in page history and discuss pages of Mangalore.Pls see to it.

Cumbum, Tamilnadu / Kambam

Yep a Google test (crude, I know) shows a lot more references to Kambam, so that seems to be the more common transliteration. Not sure how to find out the official English spelling if there is one. Cumbum, Tamil Nadu / Kambam history merge

Sure - just move it using the 'move' tab up above.

To sum up: you created the Cumbum, Tamil Nadu page (which I'll call CTN for short) just yesterday or today, then cut/pasted the content in from Kambam. That's fine, but next time when you know you want to do this kind of thing, don't create the new page first. Just use the 'move' tab at the top of the article's page, and move the article to the location of your heart's desire. For example, you could move the CTN page to "KrakatoaKatie Land" by using the 'move' tab, because that page is empty. (Until I declare myself a queen and retire there, insisting on my own article because I Will Be Notable.) OTOH, if you wanted to move it to some existing page (like Krakatoa, if there was a good reason) that would take admin intervention.

Since you did create the CTN page before the merge, doing it the way we did it was indeed the only way to merge the histories. Don't worry about it, it was fine – I just wanted to point out that there's a far easier way to move things like that, if you don't create the new page first. The merging page histories process is pretty strange to do – a lot of steps to do, in order, with a kind of blind faith that it's all going to turn out okay when I'm done, with the looming cloud that if it's not done right, it takes a _lot_ to undo it. At the same time, it's kind of cool. All's well in the end, and that's what matters. And yes, Krakatoa is a volcano – the story is on my user page. Not really. I love nature and its conservation. I am fascinated by Uppalapadu, of what it has to offer though it is so close to the urban areas. Re:Edit summaries

Hi – I was going to say that there isn't a way to make a one-size-fits-all edit summary, but I might be wrong.

I crawled around WP:TOOLS and I found Wikipedia:WikiProject_User_scripts/Scripts/Force_edit_summary. That doesn't quite do what you want, but following the SourceWatch EL at the top of the page takes you to this page, which is a script for a dropdown menu of commonly used edit summaries next to the edit summary box. That may be the closest you get to what you're seeking.

I can't really help you configure it because I'm not a JavaScript expert, but if you want to try it, be sure you copy the whole thing and paste it into your monobook.js file _before_ your popups and Twinkle scripts. Be sure to empty your browser cache and force a hard reload after you save the page. If you have trouble, ask one of the members of Wikipedia:WikiProject User scripts for help. I use Twinkle and popups too – they're the all-stars of editing and they suit my vandal-fighting needs perfectly. I've never used the Force edit summary script, so I can't help you there. I recommend contacting one of the members of WikiProject User Scripts, because they're the wizards and can drill down to the exact problem you have. I wish I could help more with fixing it, but I'd probably end up deleting all the anime articles or something, which would be the End of Civilization. ;-) One of those real experts will get you up and running in no time.
