I am a native English speaker and was correcting two grammatical errors. "she" is correct, instead of "her." It is a subject pronoun, and "are former" is correct instead of "were former." I can move it to a Draft article this will allow you to work on it and then ask someone to review it before its published so they can advise on what needs adding, removing or rewording before it meets the criteria for inclusion on Wikipedia. Nowhere in your edits did you say where the evidence to confirm your change were located. If you had provided a reference in the edit or by the change in the article there would have been no issue. If you wish to make the change please do so with a reference that backs up the claim - please note Wikipedia is not considered a reliable reference as anyone can edit it. Buile Hill Park

Hello "Amortias",

As the only surviving direct descendant of Sir Thomas Potter I feel I have the credentials to rectify certain inaccuracies in topics that relate to my immediate family. My grandfather, Richard Ellis Potter, was born at Buile Hill in 1855. There are extensive family diaries, manuscripts, and other supportive material that give accounts of his life as a child in Buile Hill and its Park. Buile Hill was never left to the Nation by Sir Thomas Potter! There are a number of legal documents that support this and give evidence of the following occupants of the house and estate. This was sold by my great grandfather in 1877 to John Marsland Bennett. This is also well-documented.

John Potter died in Tadcaster in 1802. He was never a Merchant. His eldest son, also John, died of yellow fever in August 1796 on his way from New York to Havana. Sir Thomas's elder son, Sir John Potter, was born in 1815 in Prestwich and died in 1858 at Beech House, Eccles. Sir John was also a merchant, Mayor of Manchester, and finally M.P. for Manchester. He did not, in view of his young age at the time, have anything to do with reforms and the plotting parlour. Sir John never lived at Buile Hill as an adult having acquired Beech House. His younger brother, Thomas Bayley, lived there after his mother died in 1852.

The Potter archives are extensive. Many are housed at the London School of Economics. Many others are to be found at the British Library. Others are held at Manchester. Georgina Meinertzhagen, née Potter b.1850, wrote the book From Ploughshare to Parliament based on old family papers found in a box kept in the cellar of Standish House. These papers were dated between 1783 and 1845. These are now housed at the L.S.E. in London. The book was first published in 1896 and reprinted in 1908.

There are also inaccuracies relating to the acquisitions of various parks and their amalgamations. I think you will find that if you undertook to check all this out you would find that all the supporting evidence to my editing is readily available. The London School of Economics' archive room is particularly productive. There are a number of books out there written on the Cotton Trade and the Merchants. The Georgian Group in London will give you all the information you like on Buile Hill and Sir Charles Barry (never commissioned by a John Potter!). Unfortunatley with the internet being what it is its frightfully difficult to prove anyone is who they say they are. information needs to be added and removed in a specifc manner which includes reliable sources a neutral manner and be verifiable. If you can edit while fulfilling all of these criteria then ther should e no porblem with the changesbeing made. However, as you are related to the articles namesake it would be better to make a {{requested edit}} on the articles talkpage and allow another uninvolved editor to review the request to ensure it meets these criteria. Hi, just so your aware the reason these tend to get picked up so quickly is that theres a range of software that reports on changes that meet specific criteria and report these to a page many editors review constantly.

Short answer - dont do it again as it'll almost certainly get picked up.

Pse provide proper rationale when reverting edits, as you've been reverting some of mine at History of SA page. Otherwise you're liable to be accused of vandalism or bad faith editing. Better yet, provide reliable sources to prove such sources exist per WP:Verify.

Citations are needed throughout the article, not only in sections tagged as "citation needed". I gave up inserting the "citation needed" tags after about the first 20 or so, (working from the bottom upwards). Sections are also heavily POV biased through omission of important and highly relevant data. NPOV is supposed to prevail, but this article is not NPOV in many respects. If you wish to create it you will need to provide sufficient detail to describe it and also provide reliable sources to validate these details. When information is changed about people on wikipedia we have to have reliable sources to confirm this. The change was reverted as there was no reliable source presented to confirm this. The article in question does state that he wasnt born in Port Glasgow however it doesnt state where he was born. I will be removing the place of birth as it is not supported by the source. We cant however insert Scotstoun for his bithplace without a suitable source to confirm that it is indeed correct. Amortias (T)(C) 21:07, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

Glasgow is considered acceptable as this is what the reference states (and ideally what the editor who added the detail to the article should have put). Unfortunatley the edit that included Port Glasgow was not added by myself. It would be quite a lengthy and difficult task to track down where this change was made through potentially thousands of edits in the articles history. Amortias (T)(C) 22:14, 21 April 2015 (UTC)
