Owen Jones[edit]
Please don't change the Owen Jones article again. (Why tag Owen Jones and none of the other Celtic youth players??) This player is a professional footballer. Being a youth player in the UK does not change that status. "Professional" is not the opposite of "youth" - it is the opposite of "amateur". All youth players with contracts in the UK are paid to do their jobs and are professionals, by definition. If you don't know anything about it stop changing the article because it doesn't appear to be in good faith. - It is certainly not "Vandalism?" as you put it. I noticed another editor had tagged the article for the following reason "This is not a professional player for Celtic F.C., but a youth player. Hence fails WP:BIO in the absence of other claims of notability.", and you had removed the tag before its expiry, apparently on your own whim. And I did read your "discussion". - Agh - I had a long response typed up about how I tended to make incorrect edits, but when I clicked Save Page it gave me a "Wikipedia is experiencing technical problems" page and I lost it. But to summarize: it's because I judge IPs way too quickly and harshly. I see so much spam coming from IPs, endlessly filling Wikipedia with rubbish, and new contiubutions come in so fast that I want to revert as much vandalism as possible before it gets past the post (i.e. exits "recent" changes and becomes long-standing changes, at which point the vandalism will stay for potentially hours until someone notices it). So, when I see e.g. a minor change - especially a change in a fact from an IP that contradicts the previous page "time-concensus" - I tended to revert it rather than researching whether the new info was actually correct. So, once again, I'm sorry for being so hasty and I'd like to think I have learned my lesson.
Also: you're right - there is plenty of "obvious" vandalism around, but I don't feel that excuses the less obvious stuff that often sneaks under the radar. It's that sort of thing that annoys me most, since obvious vandalism can be ignored, but less obvious vandalism can affect information. Of course, the irony is that I myself was affecting information by reverting unnecessarily... but, as above, I think I've learnt my lesson there. I was intrigued by the change you made to the rollback sweepstake page; I'd forgotten the existence of the NUMBEROFADMINS magic word, and didn't know there was a way to do it for other groups. But then I saw you'd done NUMBEROFROLLBACKERS as a template, and I wondered why isn't there a magic word to count them automatically? I posted an enhancement request at Bugzilla for a new {{USERSINGROUP}} {{NUMBERINGROUP}} magic word (somebody has renamed it), which would do that, so maybe somebody there will eventually add it. Syndicate image[edit]
Thanks for doing the FRU on the Syndicate screenshot. I got bored of repeatedly having to redo those tags on all the screenshots that I uploaded, in some cases three or four times over as the requirements kept changing. Unfortunately, a lot of images just died because I got annoyed of having to keep redo-ing the same things over and over with little-to-no clue about what it was I was doing wrong/supposed to do. I once spent nearly an hour looking up how to add an FRU to an image and eventually got bored and decided to never post images again. Far too much hassle. So thanks for keeping some of my efforts alive on the Wiki.

- What I suspect is happening is that a vandal is trying to delete the article on notability issues though he did not realize that the article had been attempted to be deleted previously last year with it being kept. Thanks for your comments on this pg's AfD. So far most people agree that it's not a valid dab, but there are 3 different recommendations, deletion, redirect to the composer and redirect to the William Sweeney dab page, all of which I'd be happy enough with, although I still favour deletion. You recommended redirect to the composer and I was wondering if you had heard the composer referred to as William John Sweeney or if you just thought he was the most likely candidate for this name? If you do this, please add {{fact}}, {{whom}}, {{dubious}} and similar tags for all statements not backed by citations.
If you feel that any of the stuff about the The Protocols of the Elders of Zion is relevant, please make sure it has citations to the original book, or to some dependable source linking it (books by nutcases are only reliable sources as to the beliefs of their authors). This was not done in the alternative article that someone created. Speedy deletion decline[edit]
Hey there - I was wondering if you could expand on your decline to speedy delete Category:States and territories established in 1162. The reason you gave was "part of a set", however, "part of a set" is not one of the exceptions laid out in WP:CSD#C1. If you look at my deleted contributions, you will see numerous categories that were "part of a set" that I tagged for deletion that were deleted as C1. Please re-evaluate your decision to decline. - I'm not an admin and so I cannot view your deleted contributions. I did not mean to mislead you into thinking I was. I untagged that category when I saw it because I thought the reason was lousy. What's the point of deleting it? It does no harm. It may be used eventually, in which case the prepared category header and parent categories are already in place and will not need to be reconstructed. There is no reason to waste good edits and admin time on cleaning up stuff like that, since after all there is no deadline.
- C1 is a provision to delete such categories but never has CSD policy said anything must be deleted. What it says is: "The criteria for speedy deletion specify the only cases in which administrators have broad consensus support to, at their discretion, bypass deletion discussion and immediately delete Wikipedia pages or media" (underline added). The category is also part of the navigational list. Your tagging those categories is my opinion not helpful. You should take it to Categories for discussion if you feel strongly about it and want a fuller discussion. I note you received some similar opinion at User talk:Fastily#Speedy deletion decline and User talk:Ckatz#Speedy deletion declines. • Anakin (talk) 20:13, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

I recently posted the following text on Wikipedia regarding the creation of a new computing-related project:
'WikiProject Java is a Wikipedian community that aims to better organize information in articles related to the Java programming language and its platform.
- If I'm cor-rec-to, there are about 900 articles on Java technology in Wikipedia, which may be more than ALL other programming languages articles combined...
- At least, it's more than for C++, and there IS a C++ WikiProject...
- And it's MUCH more than the .NET WikiProject with 82 articles...
- There is also a Ruby project and a Python portal so...
