Hello. I appreciate your contributions recently to the UT Austin article. However, do you think your move keeps pictures in applicable subcategories? For example, should the picture of the Old Main Campus have been moved from History to Campus when it's not really on the campus anymore? Similarly, the Littlefield House really has nothing to do with History but is pertinent to Campus. I would like to undo the changes but wanted to consult you first. --Eustress (talk) 17:35, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let me swap the littlefield house with old main so we don't get white spaces again. Andman8 (talk) 17:40, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds reasonable...thanks for your understanding. --Eustress (talk) 19:09, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UT Austin ref work[edit]

Do you know of anyone that is trying to rectify the citations with in the ut austin article? The prose is spot on and after my quick tweaks in formating it looks like a GA possibly an FA with some work. Andman8 (talk) 18:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the article used to be a GA but was recently demoted (and with good reason). I've been making significant changes to the article bit by bit (Alumni section and supporting list, rankings, pictures, etc.) and would welcome any help, especially on the citations (which I usually do immediately before a GAN or FAC, but any help is great). I've been going it alone for a while though...best --Eustress (talk) 19:06, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

I was very taken aback by the negativity of those who read over the article that I had worked so hard to make a good one. I'm glad to know that my negative experience with the Wikipedia community is not unique and that I can count on a friend here.

I'm glad that you ended up returning to Wikipedia. After all, your article (which seems really good) was not written for the type of people who critique it. As you said, you wrote the article with dedication because you care deeply about your school and wanted to let others know about it. It is the people who come upon it for information and who learn from it who will be the ones that will benefit from your effort and the ones who will appreciate the fact that you wrote it.

Thanks for your comment. And keep in touch.

Proposed deletion of Shavit 2[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Shavit 2, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Genre film[edit]

I'm not entirely certain there's a major issue here, as we do have the well-established article film genre, which genre film should arguably redirect to, rather than B movie, to which it currently redirects. That said, we could certainly (a) create a brief genre film article and/or add a sentence to the short introductory paragraph of the B movie Associated terms subsection, perhaps like this: "The term genre film is often used interchangeably with B movie, though not all genre films are B movies and vice versa." WP:FILMS Questionnaire[edit]

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!

Proposed deletion of Dror Soref[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dror Soref, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non-notable director. Awards were not major awards (not best picture as stated in the article). Notability seems to be limited. Only one quality source which related to his directorship of a non-notable production company. The journal source listed is false, there was no such article in that journal.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Seddσn talk|[[wmuk:Main_Page|WikimediaUK] 10:49, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is also almost no critical views of this director present in the article. These views are present in sources, particularly over the poor reception of the films he has produced. This needs to be added for a neutral article. Seddσn talk|WikimediaUK 17:24, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I will add criticism but incorporating into the article and not a specific criticism section as criticism sections are generally looked down upon without substantiated evidence. I am going to remove the proposed deletion tag as multiple verified sources have been established Andman8 (talk) 17:26, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I started a discussion about this article here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dror Soref. --MZMcBride (talk) 21:34, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject University of Texas at Austin Collaboration for August 2009[edit]

The current WP:UT collaboration for the period ending August 31, 2009 is:

University of Texas at Austin#History

Our September 2009 project is TBD. If you would like to nominate an article for a future project please add a nomination under that month's section or to see what articles we've already collaborated on, please visit the Collaboration talk page.

WP:UT's first priority is getting the flagship article (UT Austin) back to GA status and ultimately, FA status. So lets take this in baby steps and focus on one section at a time, and what better section the the first: history! Any contributions would be appreciated and... Hook 'em Horns! Tony Horton[edit]

I'm not prepared to restore in current form, which is just a promotional leaflet, full of unsourced claims. I'll put the text here so that you can, if you wish, work it up to an acceptable encyclopaedia article Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:53, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. It might be a while until I can get to it because of school but i'll let you know when its done. It probably won't have as many sources as my p90x article but ill get to at least 3 solid ones before I bug you.Andman8 (talk) 15:26, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Burtsbees.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Burtsbees.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Admrboltz (talk) 04:13, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
