How can I be of assistance? Kelly Martin (talk) 04:43, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hai

[edit]

Hai. In wikipedia we don't sign on the pages we contribute (It is automatically stored in the history of that page). The discussions for any page are done in the respective talk pages. For example discussions concerning Pallipuram will be done at Talk:Pallipuram. In case you have any doubt, you can leave me a message in my talk page, User talk:Raghu.kuttan.--Raghu 08:41, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your talk page has already been created. Raghu's talk page is located at: User talk:Raghu.kuttan -- you can communicate with him by editing that page. When you visit a user page (or any article), you will find a "dicussion" tab in the top navigation. Clicking on that tab will take you to the talk page of that user/article. Feel free to ask me or any other user for help. utcursch | talk 12:02, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Pattambi Mosque.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Pattambi Mosque.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:06, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Malayalee

[edit]

Hello,

There's a problem in the Malayalee article. The points of contention are the following:

  • Dayaanjali doesn't want the article to mention that marumakkathayam (matrilineality/matrifocality) were practiced by the Nairs. i.e., as a community, Nairs were known to be matrifocal/matrilineal, and a martial class.
  • Dayaanjali insists the the words "Malayali" comes from the Malayalam words Malai and Aali. Historically, the region has been known as Malayalam before the genesis of the Malayalam language. Hence, the words probably originated from old Tamil. He also seems to think that Malayalam originated independently of Tamil, whereas (facts aside) all linguists state that Malayalam split off from Tamil about 800 AD or 900 AD.

Since you are active in Kerala-related articles, I request you to take a look at this matter. Dayaanjali seems unwilling to discuss changes in the talk page. Initially we had a discussion. I provided references to support my points. After this, he has refused to discuss the points, claiming that my edits are "unverified". The discussion is here. --vi5in[talk] 06:37, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I firmly believe that Malayalam developed independently having more influence from Tamil. Having said that, the language has similarities with other languages in south india. It has loaned words from sanskrit and many foriegn languages. Its grammatic styles are similar to Tamil. Script is more similar to Tulu Script. Even then You cannot call it new language. The people of malabar cost was using languague which was different from Tamil even during Sangam period, though part of same kingdoms as that of present day Tamil Nadu. The people are different, the culture is different, the script is different. The words Mala and ali are there in many languages in south india and foreign languages like Sinhala, Thai etc. Its not known where the words come any paryicular language. And about customs of Nair cast, its not specific to nairs. More than that this is not the article that you can list out all the customs and tradition of aparticular community. You have a separate article where you can add details.

A tag has been placed on File:Anil-biswas.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 17:47, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Anil-Biswas.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 17:50, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to WikiConference India 2011

[edit]

Hi Aniljay,

The First WikiConference India is being organized in Mumbai and will take place on 18-20 November 2011.
You can see our Official website, the Facebook event and our Scholarship form.

But the activities start now with the 100 day long WikiOutreach.

As you are part of WikiProject India community we invite you to be there for conference and share your experience. Thank you for your contributions.

We look forward to see you at Mumbai on 18-20 November 2011

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sarpam Thullal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://kannurtourism.in/sarpam-thullal.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
