Per your request[edit]

Hi. Per your request, I've undone your self-requested block. Sorry for the delay; as I said in email, I hardly ever check that email account. If you ask for a block again, please remember that any administrator will undo it if you ask at your talk page. For that matter, I'd have seen it here, as I was keeping you on my watchlist just in case. :) I didn't block your access to your talk page. :) Unless something has triggered an autoblock, you should be good to go. Please just leave a note here if you encounter any issues. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:19, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:ChammakChalloCombined.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Nomination of List of accolades received by Ra.One for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of accolades received by Ra.One is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of accolades received by Ra.One until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Gaijin42 (talk) 16:32, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ankit. The article is good, and has a good chance of becoming an FL with a bit more effort, but based on my deeper look, the sources given for the Apsara awards seem totally unreliable, especially that indiawest.com, which says in its TOU that "indiawest.com will use reasonable efforts to include up-to-date and accurate information in this Internet site, but makes no representations, warranties, or assurances as to the accuracy, currency or completeness of the information provided." I have come across a few sites, which were judged unreliable because of such a disclaimer. I managed to replace the pinkvilla source for Stardust awards, but the Apsara awards are not mentioned in any RS's I could find, like this, this and this. They only mention the music awards, and I'm afraid the reviewer will not pass the article if such sources exist. Please replace the sources if you feel the same, or you can ask at WP:RSN. Regards. X.One SOS 08:03, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

TALK to Ashermadan? You gotta be kidding me. ;) Obviously they are unreliable, so I removed and tagged it. X.One SOS 09:00, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Om Shanti Om awards section[edit]

Becoming Admin[edit]

Hey, I was wondering how one becomes an admin. The Don 2 page is out of date. I told X.One to edit it but he didn't. The awards list it outdated and it has some factual errors. (Asher Madan) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashermadan (talkcontribs) 15:25, 29 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A very bad idea.[edit]

I appreciate you may have been annoyed, but seriously, did you think this edit was a good idea? People usually come to AN/I to get admin assistance, not to draw admin attention to themselves.

In short: *no-one* can be ordered by anyone to anywhere in Wikipedia, not even by arbitrators to an Arbcom case. Do NOT do it again. Manning (talk) 11:18, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just saying that I concur with Manning's comments above. Your posting of an "official notice" was entirely inappropriate, and gave the impression that you were in some way empowered to act on behalf of Wikipedia - which you are not. Acting in this way is completely inappropriate and only weakens the case you have brought to WP:ANI. Kim Dent-Brown (Talk) 11:56, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Let me add my "third" to this: suggestion that someone has a uncoming "trial", etc is extremely uncivil, and completely contrary to the collegial nature of this project. If you have SPI beliefs, file it and shut up. Don't threaten, state that you're going to run them off the project, etc. I'm appalled at your actions towards the editor, whether or not they're a "sock" (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:38, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon me, Ankit but I thought it was quite obvious that I was sarcastic with Seeta Maaya, and not applauding her. I know how destructive she was to Wiki. I believe you people could over-rule her and bring things to control. That's it. Nothing more, and I meant to show absolutely no grudge on you, I am not an SRK-hater or any sort. I just do not like the attitude some SRK fans show to a few people, of whom I am a part. And, if it were the same case, even I could say stuff like "You are supporting Ashermadan, of all people" (one of the main trollers). You have seen what kind of a victim I am in these articles, with all sorts of metaphors and personal attacks directed at me. If you still do not feel convinced, then we must go our own ways, once and for all. Regards. X.One SOS 13:26, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have not stated that you have a grudge against me. I know that there is no reason for that. Over-rule SM, with the unmatched support of Scieberking? You have got to be joking. And now he has found a new troll to mentor. Clarify as to exactly which "SRK fans" have targeted you or attacked you. If you are referring to Ashermadan, let me bring it to your attention that I have never supported his way of speaking, especially the "fanboy" and "go cry to your idol" sort of stuff; if you wish to believe that I do, then I am in no position to help. Your, pardon me, stupendously hilarious comments on the Talk:Shahrukh Khan page, however, beg to differ from your statement that you are not a hater. I have already made it known as to exactly which statement(s) of yours are pretty conflicting with your declaration (especially on the unforgivable George Bush issue). You may have been targeted by people like Ashermadan, but clearly you have failed to see the sort of attacking going on against some SRK-related editors, not the least of which include "paid editors", dramebaaz, etc. I could go on and on, but that's not the point. This matter about neutrality will never subside, especially if some agenda-based trolls are continuously encouraged to add trash into articles. I meant no personal insult or any such thing, but you have to understand the sort of tension-filled atmosphere in Bollywood-related articles. The last time I asked an editor to explain his double-standards, he coolly gave a lecture and ignored all sorts of rather obvious evidence of his non-neutrality. I hope you do not take to that path, and can satisfactorily assuage me of any doubts. ~*~AnkitBhatt~*~ 13:47, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Then, shall I take it that the issue is resolved? Every person has their own point of view, and the reaction you get depends on how you take it or, how Wp takes it. X.One SOS 13:58, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you say so. Do you have any idea on what kind of attitude some of your "friends" have? No pinpointing, just the hint for you to decipher. I believe I came to Wp primarily to edit film articles, but I always love changing the genre. Your wish, to decide. X.One SOS 14:16, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ankitbhatt, this round of accusations and personal attacks is now getting outright nasty. I don't feel like writing here, neither I'm here to explain anything. And I don't want to take it to the next level by reporting it to some noticeboard (that may lead to another "wiki-break" or, in any case, breed ill will). If we can't be friends, let's just not discuss each other and "live and let live". Thank you very much. Adios. Scieberking (talk) 16:00, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, such a waste of time, energy and space to dig out from under the session histories and mention, but it's not impossible to read the praises I've written about you on nearly half a dozen pages. I still apologize if I've hurted anyone. Regarding trolls, I only encouraged new users to become good and unbiased Wikipedians. That's my final comment. Thanks. By the way, who is SM? Thanks for the work-list in the talk page. We need to go slow, but steady! First, we need to upgrade and update references. I have started doing that gradually. Please have a look at Economy of West Bengal, that article has been improved and increased in size, with updated references. Plan is to bring a summary from that article to the Economy section here within a few days. We can go similarly for other sections.

I requested DanaBoomer for a few days leeway, as we are still busy saving Kolkata in FARC. We do not ned to go for an FARC of West Bengal right now if we can slowly yet steadily work on the article. The plan, as discussed above, would be to first update, upgrade, rectify references (if there is some glaring copyedit issue that comes to attention in the process, we can fix that too). After a stable and updated referencing, copyediting would be the issue, for which we will need the help of other editoes with nice English writing capacity. We shall request them later. Dhoom 2[edit]

I will see what I can do. That was my first GA, and I hadn't done as much work on it as on the later ones. Much of that stuff was already there, and I just cleaned it up. You are of course free to modify it too, I don't own it. I will however try to address your points. BollyJeff || talk 17:57, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I fixed it up some; have a look now. I think it is kind of tedious to use INRConvert template for EVERY figure, as it takes up a lot of space, but I used it everywhere except on the smaller (<1 crore) figures. Maybe you can help me on those national box office figures and records; I can't find anything else useful on BOI. BollyJeff || talk 23:22, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree with all of your changes.

  • You removed all that small market information, and did not replace it with anything else.
  • You put quotes around some text that was not a direct quote.
  • You put xth and yth highest grossing film info, that will be out-dated soon, since every new movie these days is breaking records.

I hope you see fit to correct some of this, but if not I will let it go. Thanks for the heads up on the problems. BollyJeff || talk 12:44, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't think we need all those first day, week, month, etc. figures, unless they were notable records.
  • You don't have to have quotes for every review. In fact, we got dinged for having too many doing it once; that's why I paraphrased on some of them.
  • You can say "top 10", "top 20" etc, and it wont get out-of-date so often. BollyJeff || talk 13:45, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Newer films have tons of reviews online, so people tend to put too many. But I was told by a reviewer on another article to only put a couple of quotes, not one for every review. For the older films (that I like to work on) it's tough finding ANY reviews. I don't know that you really need consensus to put "top 10 grossing", but if you want to try, please do. BollyJeff || talk 13:57, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't mean that D2 had too many reviews; I was talking about articles like Ra.One. I just had a look and was overwhelmed by it all. I don't even feel like reading them. BTW, quotes are often copyrighted. See Wikipedia:Quotations. Oh, and you should not say the article is incomplete without opening day totals. Wikipedia:MOSFILM#Box_office says that it may be included, not that it must be. Check out the meager BO section of FA article Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Haha, it does have a big critical section with lots of quotes though. BollyJeff || talk 14:57, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Requests/complaints[edit]

I think my deletion of the lines are quite justifiable and I assure you that there is no bad intention regarding this, but if you don't agree with me than there it is. RaOne-pageWhat I can assume is that you are sensible enough not to put every quote and series of operations printed/published in newspapers. It will simply not going to serve the purpose- no one is interested in line by line story, if they are than surely they need to refer more detailed versions-and it simply increasing the magnitude of the data only, nothing else. I agree that there might be issues you specified but I am reiterating that there is no such thing.Jpmeena (talk) 17:11, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Malaysia, South Korea (main), Taiwan (main), Morocco (:P), Germany (main)? X.One SOS 10:58, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As much as I’d like that to be true...Bollywood films don’t release in Morocco :p --Meryam90 (talk) 11:03, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Germany can be converted to blue. For the past 10 years or so, important films release there. X.One SOS 11:08, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And, could you comment on this Afd? X.One SOS 11:19, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And, Enthiran did earn 250c, according to BOI. Look at the article. The producers said it went beyond 400c, but as usual you know how corrupted DMK related people are. :P X.One SOS 13:30, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sun Pictures said that via TOI in an interview. And I had a similar feeling about 3 Idiots a couple of years back. But obviously, if Aamir can't, who can?! Same applies for Rajini. X.One SOS 14:09, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Enthiran suffered losses? :o Amazing. That's why Rajni shifted his focus to Eros, for his upcoming projects. X.One SOS 14:45, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps. But still I am not really sure with the 250c figure either. How on earth could BOI get figures for Tamil and Telugu versions if it cannot do so for dubbed versions? Nonsensical, ain't it? X.One SOS 15:01, 25 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Ra.One[edit]

Isn't a table needed for overseas reviews, just like the Indian ones? Uniformity gets disrupted, otherwise. X.One SOS 15:22, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A few problems do exist in the article. One, images and quote boxes should not disrupt the format of the text. That is a rather annoying thing, pardon me. What I mean to say that images or quote boxes should cover exactly a certain number of paragraphs, and not in an incomplete manner. It should cover one or two paragraphs EXACTLY and not one and a half. Second, regarding the file used in the VFX section, it does not have a proper rationale. It is a non-free screenshot whose copyright is owned by the distributor. Non-free images cannot be remixed or modified in ANY way. However, it confesses that it is a part of the screenshot and not the whole, as it is. I think we need to get a better image and remove this. X.One SOS 15:40, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. I think so. I'll have to nominate it for deletion. I'll see exactly what criteria it fails. X.One SOS 15:45, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know either. I thought it failed the NFCC rules but Wikipedia:NFCC#3 says that images can be used as a portion. Its getting confusing. Perhaps, I should ask at the Media copyright questions page. X.One SOS 15:54, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll look through the archives, but unless it comes up at FAC, let's not put much attention to it. In the meanwhile, I think it would be better to keep an alternative aside. X.One SOS 16:04, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that would be nice. The two images, one showing the effect and another the original setup. Many Hollywood articles have that. And it looks better now that the multiple tables have been removed. However, some proper look is needed. :P X.One SOS 16:13, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have undid those two. Lets use it as a test edit in the sandbox. X.One SOS 16:26, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Rediff and DNA India look messy. What say that we use the average ratings for both, 2 and 3.25 respectively? X.One SOS 16:46, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And before I forget, if images are from Bollywood Hungama, their source urls must be updated as they are likely to be dead. X.One SOS 16:47, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

LOL... no bud I wasn't addressing you. I was just thanking Secret of success for his kind gesture. Anyways, how are things with you? Is this really needed? User ratings need not necessarily be reliable. X.One SOS 11:01, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at WP:RS/IMDB. I believe there's no need for a discussion, actually. X.One SOS 13:07, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, a copy-edit is required in the lead section and the article can be renominated for GA. X.One SOS 13:28, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If possible, the second para needs a complete re-write. X.One SOS 13:31, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, they should be added because it was an important part of the article. But still the controversy need not be specifically mentioned. Something like "The film released after a controversial pre-release period" or similar. The cameo needs a mention. X.One SOS 13:34, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And, don't you think Ra.One needs a "themes" section? Or have they been mixed with the other sections? X.One SOS 13:36, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:FILM#Themes might help. Look at FA's like American Beauty, one of the best articles on film in Wikipedia. X.One SOS 13:48, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But still, superheroes are new to Indian cinema right? And, all the geeky stuff about it. Plus the mixture of desi Bollywood and Hollywood, and all that. If it is present in other sections, no need for it. X.One SOS 14:00, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think all sections are necessary. American Beauty does not even have a BO section!! Btw, I was curious to know, which are your favourite films? X.One SOS 14:11, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Pardon me, I hate Steven Spielberg, a guy who copied Indian films and later denied it. I am surprised, you watch Tamil films? That too Suriya's? :o Well, my favorites include Dabangg, Lagaan, 3 Idiots, the only two SRK films I like : KHNH and DDLJ. Down South, Unnaipol Oruvan and Roja. Hollywood, TRON: legacy and Inception and Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2. My favorite actor is Kamal Haasan and director Mani Ratnam. X.One SOS 14:56, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But, still I am not that crazy about Hollywood films, though. X.One SOS 15:05, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, that barely matters here. Regarding Ra.One, lets see if it is brought up at FAC, otherwise don't bother. I'd still recommend a basic copy-edit for Don 2 before its GA. X.One SOS 15:19, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I shall not edit the article as I am planning to review it. All my unofficial feedback can be found in the "comments" section. See if all those have been addressed (I think Meryam did it). X.One SOS 15:28, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, the article does not fail GA because of that. Its the age of machines, where all man needs to do is put up a simple effort in making it and then he lazes around and becomes fat. Ah, why don't people appreciate and implement hard work these days? I have formatted around 100 references in each of ZNMD and Dabangg before GA. That doesn't matter now. X.One SOS 15:48, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's no hurry at all. Like I said, lack of authors in references does not fail the article's GA by any means. It was just a step to try and make the article flawless. X.One SOS 16:08, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And, yes, even I am filled with board exams this week till 12th. Then 3 months hols. X.One SOS 16:09, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The royal system of CCE is the answer to everything. Seriously, we live like kings in school. Too bad, no more late-at-night slogging. Lesser chance of IIT qualification. That's why I enrolled in FIITJEE. Anyway, good night! I need to get some sleep. X.One SOS 16:29, 6 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ankit, do you think you could lend a hand here with the quote thingy? Or shall I do it myself and later if controversial, sort it out? I think that's a major problem with the article. Something certainly needs to be done. Secret of success (talk) 09:11, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Ra.One[edit]

Ankit, for one thing, I'm glad you are sincere enough in actually pointing out flaws. Some wouldn't really bother to do it, and leave it all to those who oppose its FA or its PR. Second, I removed the rating of LA times, because the review does not have it. Metacritic's observations sound like their own works, nothing more. Why is Gulf news in "India"? It is published from Dubai, right, and that is certainly out of India. Gulf News also follows the same story. I removed it. Secret of success (talk) 09:59, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many FA's do not have a BO table. I don't think its needed. Plus the trouble we've gone through, it isn't really worth it. Did anyone ask you to add it or something? Secret of success (talk) 10:07, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
A summary is really not needed. The worldwide gross is mentioned in the infobox, others in BO section. What more is needed? If at all the reader is interested, (s)he will have to take the trouble of going through the BO section and find out. The table and the messing up is well, a barrier for the article's layout. Btw, today's my first WikiBirthday. :D Secret of success (talk) 10:29, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, thanks, and congrats for crossing 500 edits in Ra.One. The largest contributor, yes! And regarding the table, you were the one who misunderstood me, I'm afraid. I never hinted anything about copyright violations, I just said that the layout of the section looks $%@*!# when that table is inserted, :P sorry. But that's how it is. Either we need to properly organize it and choose the right colors, without affecting layout one bit, or remove it. Secret of success (talk) 17:03, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry Ankit, but I'm not happy with the images inserted into the article. The one in the cast section and the London shooting thing are utterly not needed. The article already has six images, adding two, makes 8! Was that much needed? The article having so many images is by no means boosting its chances of FA. Not only that, some are small, some are big, totally uneven. Bad layout. Please understand, and no offence meant. Regards, Secret of success (talk) 17:09, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ankit, you didn't get my point. Those images are not needed at all. Why did you insert it in the first place if you knew it would disrupt format and look silly? Like I said, we are over-doing it. Those images will not boost the article's FA. Secret of success (talk) 09:39, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, then I'll be clear. The photo is small, the other photo was also made small for uniformity. If this is removed, then the other photo can be brought back to normal size, and it will be fine. Secret of success (talk) 10:14, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm ok with the paragraph thing for the release photo and the president one, but not for the new one. No, there is no such rule, but no rule which specifies the number of images. It is IMO, (optional). Frankly, let me ask. Did you feel that the original six images were not enough for the article? Secret of success (talk) 10:26, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I know that. I even undid an edit by an user who moved the page. Just that I was lazy to type the whole thing. Oh, and my hols have begun too, spanning over a period of 3 months!!!! Feeling jealous? :P Feel like having all the time in the world in my hands. :-) Secret of success (talk) 05:18, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, hope Teri Meri cheers you up lol. Even I listen to it when I am sad. Secret of success (talk) 07:08, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sheila Ki Jawani, good, but Chammak Challo?? Uh....I never really fancied that song much. Neither SRK'ish nor the Akon-kind. :P Maybe even others like Chikni Chameli will do, right? Secret of success (talk) 07:24, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Lol..there have been times when I thought that Chammak Challo was an item number. :P Secret of success (talk) 08:29, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Not really. Ra.One's numbers come from IANS (check the source), not from the producers. It means IANS took data from the producers but reported it without attribution, meaning they endorse it. LOL, and why are you continuously accusing Scieberking? You'd be blocked sooner or later for doing so. Secret of success (talk) 15:39, 15 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If he talks behind your back, it does not mean you should do the same. Please go through WP:DFFWF. It makes your status no different from that of his. And I must say that generic comments are useless, please provide links or diffs where he has accused you, if you feel he has done so. Otherwise, I'm afraid your efforts will become futile. Regarding the source, I'm afraid you failed to understand the "endorsing" part, the points made by me, Lynch and Scieberking. Please go through that. Regards, Secret of success (talk) 06:03, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In case you didn't know, that is taken as a bad faith accusation, and I hold an authority equal to that of any other normal editor in Wikipedia. If you don't provide diffs, you weaken your argument. This behaviour will be valid in other noticeboards as well, for your information.
And let me remind you that voting is not appropriate. If you cannot provide a reason, your opinion cannot be taken into account. Regards, Secret of success (talk) 08:10, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ankit, as agreed on Secret of success' talk page and on the article talk page, I fail to see the Ra.One gross removed from Infobox. I am sorry to say that I believed you will keep up your words. For now I've added the Bodyguard's gross back and will keep adding it since the consensus was to remove the figure in all the three articles and not just one. Hope you understand. --HereToSaveWiki (talk) 09:05, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Highest-grossing Bollywood films[edit]

Yes, I know all about the troubles. The problem with this particular list is that without at least one reference, "creative extension" looks like "original research". If you could at least add a line or two about how the list was developed it would help. Same goes for the 'throughout history' list. I thought there actually was a page like this at BOI, but I have trouble finding anything there. One more thing, I was surprised not to find Krrish on this list, as some sources say it was a record breaker. Do you know anything about that? BollyJeff || talk 13:17, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For example, how do you know that Race is the biggest grosser in any March ever? How do you know that Dhoom 2 was the next film to break the record after Gadar: Ek Prem Katha? Weren't there several other blockbuster films in 2006 that could have broken the record before Dhoom 2 did? BollyJeff || talk 13:59, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, please add the description. So it is possible that Krrish was higher than Gadar, but then was replaced by Dhoom 2 in the same year, right? If so, you could say Krrish held the record for 5 months or whatever, but if that is against convention its okay. It was in the Krrish article, but I removed it for lack of a source. BollyJeff || talk 14:28, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Explain one more thing to me then. When is it appropriate to use 'gross' vs. 'nett gross'? I see one of the other used a various times in different articles. I would like us to be consistent, if possible. BollyJeff || talk 14:31, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please have a look at Krrish#Box_Office for me. Some sources must be referring to gross, not nett for the numbers to be so high; or they are just wrong. BollyJeff || talk 14:33, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That list is outdated compared to the one I referenced above. However, it does say that Krrish had a record opening for the time, which should be mentioned. Thanks. BollyJeff || talk 14:52, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Are you saying that the infobox should have gross and most other figures should have net? According to that list of top first weeks, the Krrish record is for the gross of 41, not the net of 29. See two films below it have net of 30. In that case I think the gross figure should be used. Yes, I am very confused. :P I tried to fix up the article with the source you provided. BollyJeff || talk 15:16, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And another confusing thing; BOI ranks them in different order on different lists. If you rank them as on the list, and then put the net, some will appear to be out of order. On this list they are not ranked by gross or net, but by distributor share. Arghhhh! I was trying to fix Bollywood films of 2006, but the order will change depending on which figure is used. Right now there are some pretty random number in there. BollyJeff || talk

Ra.One reference style issues[edit]

India Today ( a magazine) should be in italics (in |work parameter in case "cite web" is used).--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:40, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"^ a b c d e f g h i Maila, Ruma (November 2, 2011). "Khan, Super Khan". The Week. Retrieved March 19, 2012." Th Week is probably a magazine. Check. If yes, should be in italics. Why "s" in "super" in capital?--Dwaipayan (talk) 16:50, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Answers to your questions[edit]

  • Magazine names are supposed to be italicized? Does that include Stardust and Filmfare?
Yes, magazine, periodicals, newspaper, TV program names should be in italics, but not TV channel names.
  • Mid-Day was the actual source; NDTV was the publisher.
Then why Mid_day is in author field? Mid-day is not the author. According to you, Mid day is the actual source. So, you give that in the source (that is "work" parameter. It will be best if you can find the news in the website of mid day itself rather than through NDTV.
  • The publishing website is Indiatimes.com. hence the name. Indiatimes is a source for TOI and a few other related newspapers, hence solely TOI should not be used.
All Times of India articles are through "indiatimes". You have to maintain consistency. Either mention Indiatimes in all web references of ToI, or none. I see most of the other Times of India sources do not mention Indiatimes. I do not think you need to mention Indiatimes at all. All those sources should mention Times of India as |work or |newspaper.
  • I was hoping you could clarify what "p.u." means; nothing seems to be coming up in the actual reference.
Just delete those that.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:33, 15 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your detailed reply. I came across this blog and asked blog owner whether I can use Girish Kulkarni's image with his due permission or not. He replied saying the pictures for that were supplied by the pr so they are free to be used. Now will this be enough for OTRS team? or do I need to have more specifics about the copyright? Thanks. - VivvtTalk 12:15, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I ll do as said and ll keep you updated on it. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 19:09, 17 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was actually too quick to upload the image without proper licensing. But then I contacted one of the administrators from Wikicommons and per him, blog owner mail wont suffice. I need to contact the PR to get the copyright status, which I believe would take lot of time. OTRS team would need an email from PR and not blog owner. So for the time being, I will change the image to non-free image to avoid deletion. Thanks. - VivvtTalk 13:40, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ra.One referencing continued[edit]

Is "Mumbai Boss" the publisher of The First Post. Looking at the website, it seems Mumbai Boss itself is a sort of magazine (I am not sure, you should verify). At the end of the interview, there is a line "This story by Rubina A Khan was originally published on Firstpost.com.". So, best would be to cite the original interview in First post, with the actual name of the author.

  • "When SRK calls, even Rajni overrules family advice". Mid-Day. In.com.

Why both Mid_day and In.com again?

  • "'We can't compete with foreign filmmakers': SRK". Indo-Asian News Service (The Express Tribune).

Why The Express Tribune within brackets, and not italicized? It is a newspaper.

  • "Ra.One rides YouTube wave". The Hindu Business Line.

Incomplete wikilink and italicization of newspaper.

  • "'Glad everyone liking Arjun's look': SRK". Indo-Asian News Service (The Times of India)

The newspaper is within brackets!!

  • "PlayStation launches game on SRK flick Ra.One". Press Trust of India (The Economic Times).

Again in brackets.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:06, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You told, "there is nothing incorrect in the Mid-Day and In.com part. Mid-Day is the work, In.com is publisher".
In the reference, I see the website in In.com. And midday is mentioned in the place where usually the name of a human author is given.
In this case, you are considering mid day as work and in.com as publisher. So, you are essentially providing the name of the publisher for a newspaper, is that correct? So, you are not maintaining the internal consistency of the article. No other newspaper references mention their publisher, so why this time?
If the article is really written by Mid Day, why can not we find it in Mid Day website? Does that mean Mid Day in this case is working just as a news agency? I do not know. Please try to find out.--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:38, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Post-production[edit]

Ankit, I read the post-production part. Nicely written. The process, and multiple delays causing anxiety is almost tangible! great work. Only thing that I would mention I had some difficulty in a few technical or technique-oriented terms. For example, ...making use of a global digital pipeline. What is a global digital pipeline? Any wikilinks available for this?

Also, Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt later criticized films which featured converted 3D as opposed to filmed 3D (including Ra.One), saying that conversion was a "great disservice"... I think mention "including Ra.One after "converted 3D" rather than after "filmed 3D". Also, The process of inter-mediation (DI) of the film was completed in Prime Focus' mainframe facility... You are using the abbreviation DI for the mentioned term "intermediation", which really do not tally. Use the full term Digital intermediation once, then give DI, then you can use only DI subsequently.

Other than these minor ones, this section is a very nice and entertaining read. Well done!--Dwaipayan (talk) 15:33, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ra.One[edit]

Hi Ankit. Ra.One is at a very high level, not at FA level currently, stability being a major issue. I suggest after the reconstruction is complete, get it peer reviewed and then you come back to FAC. I know you have worked hard and improved the article immensely and come a far way since your Afro-Asian Games days. Let me know if you need constructive criticism after the reconstruction. --Redtigerxyz Talk 09:33, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

About time, I do not decide that, FA delegates will. If I see my initial concerns are being addressed, I will strike my Oppose. The concerns I have raised currently are not comprehensive. I have not read the whole article. Also, the examples ( 'Ra.One utilized a record extent of marketing for a Bollywood film, with the level of promotions being described as "the most comprehensive and all-pervasive among people's lives"' ...) given may be few and the same principle (WP:NPOV) needs to be applied to the whole article. --Redtigerxyz Talk 09:51, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: topic[edit]

Yea, that's certainly a feasible topic, although I'm a bit surprised at the number of sub-articles. Are you sure none of them can be merged back into the main one? Books are incredibly easy to do. Check out this book. You just have to list all of the articles. As far as I know, this would be the first topic for a singular movie, fwiw. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:48, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

List of World Heritage Sites in India[edit]

Sorry that I didn't get to this earlier; I just plain forgot about the message on my talk page. My apologies. As for the list, I think it's in reasonable shape, although I see a few things that FLC reviewers may take issue with. If I was to offer recommendations, I'd say to limit photos to one per site – there's a lot of ugly whitespace in the entries without multiple photos now – and consider asking for a copy-edit for the descriptions, which look a bit long at first glance. Also, make sure the descriptions in the tentative list are cited, and that all tables have the necessary accessibility updates for things like row and column scopes. The lead could probably be added to a bit as well. Despite these issues, I think FL status is doable. Giants2008 (Talk) 16:33, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re Shahrukh Khan filmography[edit]

It is extremely bad form to move an article to another title immediately after an RM decision, especially without consulting the admin who made the close decision. Had you wanted the title you suggested, you should have participated in the RM. However, the title you suggested would probably not comply with WP:Title's consistency criteria since almost all other filmographies are named [subject filmography]]. I have move protected the article for 60 days.--Mike Cline (talk) 17:21, 29 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Krrish[edit]

Are you still reviewing Krrish? BollyJeff | talk 11:46, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Would you be able to spend some time on the review, instead of working so much on MEA? I am eager to see what else you have to say. Its been almost a month, and I would like to wrap it up soon if possible. I don't like splitting my efforts among too many jobs at once. BollyJeff | talk 16:44, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What in your opinion are the best sources for awards received? BollyJeff | talk 14:57, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have mostly completed the references except that some better sources for awards would help, which is why I asked the above question. I also put some comments on the review page. References for awards are also a problem on the awards articles themselves. Even on something like Academy Award for Best Actor, there are zero third party sources, except aggdata. The primary source must be accepted. BollyJeff | talk 17:35, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Seriously, you think I haven't tried Google search?!? Millions of hits come up, all potentially unreliable. If you cannot tell me what is reliable, then how can you tell me what is not. I do not believe that IIFA web site is an unusable first-party source for IIFA awards received by Krrish. If it was the Krrish official web site saying that they got the awards, then yes. I removed sources from Krrish official website, and I removed VFX awards referenced on Prasad VFX website, as you asked. Those were certainly first-party. Another solution is to remove all awards, which would seem extreme. I see that's how it is often handled, though. They create a new article with just the awards, that will not be part of the GA. That's hardly a good choice for Krrish with so few awards. I would like to take up this issue of official awards with a third party administrator or the like for clarification, because it extends to more than just this article. Do you know how to do that? BollyJeff | talk 18:28, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Do you also reject the press release from Indian government on National awards as first party? I see that used on other GAs. BollyJeff | talk 18:37, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I am getting tensed up because I feel you are being to tough about this, and I want an answer as to what can and cannot be used. Almost all Bollywood film articles use sources such as this for Filmfare, and this for IIFA, including many GAs. If they are not good, then more than just you and I need to discuss it. One of us should start an RfC. BollyJeff | talk 18:58, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
These are only the films; I did not check the actors. Thanks for the sources, I have added them, and more as well. I still believe that first-party is okay for awards, otherwise as AnimeshKulkarni said in Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Film/Indian_cinema_task_force#Bollywood_Awards, only big stars who are regularly covered in news will have good sources. I revived that thread, and there are some comments coming in favor for allowing award sites. BollyJeff | talk 17:20, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Not sure if you have applied for this or not but in a recent article on a 2004 independent Filipino movie I found this to be an incredible resource and found lots of Filipino newspaper articles not picked up by google. I strongly recommend this for anyone who edits articles on films and cinema personalities to get this asap as it wil be an invaluable research tool and will often turn up detailed articles which will not appear in google. You can gain access to the full articles by applying for it at Wikipedia:HighBeam/Applications. For sure it'll have tons on Indian actors and films which so far you've been unable to access on google. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:48, 7 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was interested in it, but was finding it hard to get solid sources, as you may have seen by now. I don't know what the requirements are for comprehensiveness to reach FA, but it would certainly be unfair if only new movies (and other subjects) could reach GA/FA, just because there are more sources, when there exist other, much more significant movies (and other subjects), that have less sources available because they are old. Certainly there must be a way around this. We should look around for "short" articles with GA/FA status. BollyJeff | talk 18:16, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, if you could organize those sources somewhere in your userspace, then I could help. I am getting a bit busy now though (as are you). BollyJeff | talk 18:32, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Apart from just online sources, we should even try for books or publish evidence we receive from the film makers themselves (if they still live) to elevate articles. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:05, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi :) . Thanks for taking the time to extend the greeting and glance at the article. I have moved it to mainspace. Would be listening in for any suggestions you and others may have later. AnshumanF (talk) 22:08, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Congratulations[edit]

Hey Ankit !! Thank you so much for the that. Phew.. So finally after 3 months, Kahaani is a GA now. Co-incidentally I started editing on the article on 11-March-2012 and today on 11-June-2012, it passed. And yea I am looking forward to make it a FA, but will be taking a short break from the article (not WP) since I even started dreaming about it in my sleep. :P I got a whole load of stuffs which I actually wanted to add it for GA but couldn't do so because of time constraints and meanwhile, I'll start looking into other articles. And yea I shouldn't delay in acknowledging that the review was indeed quite comprehensive pointing out so many minute details which will be really helpful for my next GA. Thanks for your patience for pointing out all that stuffs. Reg review of another article, I guess I'll be only able to take it up from next week as I am held up finishing my work related tasks this week. If any article is still listed by then, I'll start or else its fine. Thanks once again dude. --Msrag (talk) 08:59, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it ws a very nice and detailed review. Both Ankit and Tito are doing great GA reviews. Bye the way, Ankit, can you generally point out what is the "big formatting inconsistency in the references" that you found in the article but allowed in GA review? Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 14:28, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker)Consistency in references is a criteria for FA, not GA. So it wasn't a problem during the GA review. :) -- ♪Karthik♫ ♪Nadar♫ 16:17, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but what was the inconsistency? There may be small inconsistencies, but Ankit said there was "a big" formatting inconsistency. So, that should be corrected.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:16, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, now it is clarified. Ankit is referring to general inconsistency of the formatting of refs. I have not looked at the references of Kahaani in a while. Msrag has been taking good care of those. I think those inconsistencies will be addressed soon. It is often better if one single editor works in formatting the references. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:34, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I never thought that there could be problems with references even after Karthik, Dwaipayanc and Me have worked extensively to resolve those. Anyways single editor working on it is a nice idea and I shall take up the matter to make it consistent through out the article.--Msrag (talk) 07:13, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Red Chillies VFX Ra.One Award.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Red Chillies VFX Ra.One Award.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 06:09, 2 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If I may clarify my point, there is nothing wrong with asking MRG for advice. As is evident, she gives great advice. However, a call for admins to take some action should not be on her site. I was reacting to that request.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:09, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Anarkali as Madhubala.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Anarkali as Madhubala.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:18, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your behaviour Andreasegde/GabeMc[edit]

I have observed your response to the request from User:GabeMc regarding User:Andreasegde and I think your response was quite inequitable or lopsided. You used scolding and belittling tone to Andreasegde here and praising and forgiving tone with GabeMc here for the same type of misbehaviour, arguments, and insults flung back and forth. Both editors have been involved in this mud slinging down a long and winding road. It would appear you have taken the side of the whiney one, that approached you first, without sufficient research into both sides. GabeMc is good at image politics and thus I have reported his behaviour at [WP:ANI] for others to have a look at. This behaviour pattern has ben disruptive for too long as he attempts to push the same issue for years. 99.251.125.65 (talk) 12:15, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

I mentioned your name in a comment I left at ANI. It's no big deal, certainly nothing bad, but I think I'm supposed to notify you. This is what I get for being foolish enough to throw my hat into that drama-fest. Regards. Joefromrandb (talk) 19:34, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Arjun Rampal Ra.One.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Arjun Rampal Ra.One.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Boseritwik (talk) 09:51, 26 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Indian Cinema Task Force in the Signpost[edit]

The WikiProject Report would like to focus on the Indian Cinema Task Force for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. -Mabeenot (talk) 16:48, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

what is this of you[edit]

did u know? in Ra.One (a good article), a lot of content has been deleted by IP users and you never took notice of it? pls go through the article, and also check revision histories to help restore deleted content. the article should have a permanent protection from IP users bcoz they can remove anything without telling and its difficult to be notified of their misdeeds. I say this to User:Bollyjeff also. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:20, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
