RJ Arkhipov

Hello,

I hope you are well.

Just reaching out in regards to you signaling the wikipedia article for deletion. Could I ask why?

All the best,

RJ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rjarkhipov (talkcontribs) 02:35, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rjarkhipov, Yes I unfortunately had to mark your autobiography for deletion because it does not appear to be meeting Wikipedia's inclusion criteria, neither Author nor General notability guideline. However, it would not be speedy deleted and a discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/RJ Arkhipov to evaluate the article's eligibility against Wikipedia standard. You are welcome to participate in the discussion. :) Anupmehra -Let's talk! 02:51, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 02:51:39, 3 February 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by Ookladamot

Hi, thank you for your review of my first draft article about Professor A.L.I... I tried to veer towards sources that were primary source and I thought notability could be established through his followership-- I will endeavor to improve this article by getting outside sources to substantiate the notability. What might be good examples to do that?

Ookladamot (talk) 02:51, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ookladamot -Well, a minor fellowship doesn't help to establish notability on Wikipedia. One is required to be a fellow of highly selective and prestigious scholarly society or association (e.g., IEEE or the Royal Society). At this time Professor A.L.I. doesn't meet this standard. He may meet General notability guideline though. What you are required to do is to find multiple secondary, reliable sources -that are independent of Professor A.L.I. and discuss him in some detail (at least in 2 paragraph), -and summarize key contents from these sources in draft in your own words from a neutral point of view, -and cite the respective sources for the purpose of verification. That's it. (find newspapers, magazines, online or look into local library or online archives?). Anupmehra -Let's talk! 03:35, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

you marked my page for deletion, but i didnt mean it to go live yet as it is far from complete. can you help me to unpublish it and save it privately ? Luppys garage (talk) 05:03, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Luppys garage, Welcome to Wikipedia! The article will be soon deleted from mainspace. You may copy the article contents and save it locally on your computer and re-create it when you want to (see also, Article Wizard and Your first article). Hello Punjabclub1, The page you created will not instantly be deleted but a deletion discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aakriti Anand Singh to evaluate subject's eligibility whether she meets Wikipedia's inclusion criteria or not. If you think, she merits a Wikipedia article and existing one should not be deleted, please -find multiple secondary, reliable sources (e.g., newspapers, magazines, books, journals, etc.) that are independent of Aakriti Singh and discuss her in some detail (at least in two paragraph) and update the existing article. You are also welcome to participate in the discussion. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 14:03, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vadim Yasinovsky

Hi Anupmehra, Thank you for reviewing my post on Vadim Yasinovsky. I have two things I wanted to clarify. First I didn't understand your comment: (but unsure about reliability of source as their "about me" is returning 404-not-found error). What did you mean by "about me" - I couldn't find it in order to figure our what was creating the error. Second, am I correct in understanding that you wanted the sources to be more about Yasinovsky and less about the software he created? What if he is notable precisely because of the software he created? Does the fact that the software was reviewed by notable sources ( including the Wall Street Journal, PCWeek, PC Magazine and Release 1.0) and received an industry prize not qualify Yasinovsky as notable as described in the guidelines? Many thanks. Bakingmoo1974 (talk) 20:57, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bakingmoo1974, The primary reason the draft is declined for is notability. The draft is lacking multiple secondary, independent and reliable sources having 'significant coverage' of Vadim Yasinovsky. There is only one source in draft that has some decent coverage of Yasinnovsky but I am unsure about its reliability. When I attempted to check 'about me' section (http://ain.ua/about) of source, it was returning an error message (page not found) suggesting it might be an unreliable source, and despite having good coverage of Yasinovsky may not help to establish his notability on Wikipedia. Yes, I want to see more sources about Yasinovsky, good ones -that are reliable and having substantial coverage on him -as the article is about Yasinovsky not software. If he is notable precisely for software, he must have been talked about such in multiple newspapers, magazines. That's what we are looking for (not short/passing mentions, ~2-3 paragraph). Well, if software was reviewed in multiple reliable sources, and has received an award, then it is the software that appears to be notable and an article should be written about not creator. (See also, Wikipedia notability guideline). Anupmehra -Let's talk! 21:44, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback. I will work on the sources. Best, Bakingmoo1974 (talk) 19:26, 4 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Some advise needed

Dear Anup, First of all thank you for your continuous contribution to Wikipedia making it a better place. You have quite good user page I must say. :)

Coming to the topic, I saw your vote on Articles for deletion/Gursimran Khamba and had an urge to ask how did you find out all the citations on Gursimran? I could not find much on him which mentions him directly as a subject of discussion. Mr RD 11:58, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr RD:, Thank you for your kind words. I was able to find those sources using a Google custom search engine that produce results only from India related newspapers, magazines, web portals, for a given keyword (www.searchindiannews.in). You may also want to take a look at WP:INDAFD. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 12:12, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Second Legislative Assembly of Delhi, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Veer Singh and Jaspal Singh. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Draft:Engineering Institute of Technology - Review

Hi Anupmehra,

I have looked over your queries and remedy advice regarding the Engineering Institute of Technology article page. After considering your feedback, I have taken some time to look over the article pages published by other education providers and also investigated your reasoning and suggested remedies. As a result, I have a few point to share with you -

1. It is very clear that pages such as Yale University and the University of Western Australia have content written in the same form as that on the Engineering Institute of Technology page. Simply look at the following two university pages: Yale University and University of Western Australia

2. I would like for you to have an objective look at our content, rather than providing subjective criticisms such as "it reads like a promo brochure". All of the information we have provided is factual and accurate AND is reflected in the long list of independent sources provided.

3. Furthermore, in response to point one whereby you stated that "it reads like a promo brochure of institute not really an encyclopedia article", I suggest you have a read of the encyclopedia article you provided a link to which states, “encyclopedia articles focus on factual information to cover the thing or concept for which the article name stands.” This is exactly what our content reflects and is an objective statement about what is permissible in terms of article page content, therefore rendering your statement as untrue and subjective.

I appreciate you taking the time to review the Engineering Institute of Technology page and hope that you take my detailed response on board. I can appreciate that Wikipedia's goal is to share factual information to the masses and in this case, you cannot argue that we have done anything but oblige. Please provide clear and concise feedback on the best way forward to ensure this education provider page is approved.

Many thanks,

Regarding the wiki entry of Music Director Vaibhav Saxena

Dear Anup,

I would like to congratulate you for your immense and selfless contribution towards wikipedia, I went through your complete about me section and found it impressive. I came across you profile on my wiki entry that you edited. 'Vaibhav Saxena' I would be glad to have your help regarding the page, I have collected all sorts of citations needed from sources of national and international repute, independent of me. This includes press releases on both print and electronic media as well as the links to the music releases with complete credits Please help me in making this page of wikipedia standards.

Cheers bro

Thanks a lot Vaibhav Saxena — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vaibhav13official (talkcontribs) 10:47, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vaibhav Saxena -First off, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia not a social networking website to write about oneself (like you say, profile). Wikipedia is selective for its subjects for articles that are determined by the editing community in accordance with notability guideline. Even if one meets the required standard, writing an autobiography on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged. If you have been published in detail in multiple independent reputable newspapers, magazines, etc., you may request an article to be created at WikiProject India requested articles, instead attempting to re-create it after deletion of existing one (please note that press-releases are not considered independent sources and wont help). I hope this is of help and you are not dishearten by deletion of your article and continue being a part of the Wikipedia community. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 01:28, 18 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Mrjacobisaac: User pages are meant to put to information regarding what a user do on Wikipedia, activities, babel info, and may be a little bio —if they want to. There is no problem with your userpage. Well yes, you may improve the article a bit. The "Modelling" section lacks citation and reads promotional. You should only write in Wikipedia articles what has already been written in reliable sources —in your own words from a neutral point of view. When you use a source to write some contents, cite the same for the purpose of verification. That's just it. You may improve the article by removing unsourced claims and fixing tone. Happy editing! Calling all WikiProject X members!

Hello fellow member! WikiProject X needs your help!

We studied the various needs that WikiProjects have, and have come up with some ideas for our first round of WikiProject tool development. These include:

  • An automatically updated WikiProject directory that surfaces WikiProject-related metrics and automatically generates a list of active participants and potential members;
  • A lightweight, optional alternative to WikiProject banners, featuring an option to quickly send a message to the named WikiProjects;
  • A tool that bootstraps WikiProjects; and
  • A worklist generation script for WikiProjects

We are now looking for volunteer coders to work on these projects. If you are interested in developing these tools, or if you would to volunteer for other tasks, check out our new volunteers portal. Thank you for your help!

Request #144880

Hi, apparently this is your request. Is there a way for me to look at it? I'm unfamiliar with this process. What are the guidelines for granting a new account request? Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:42, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Bbb23: Yes, I created this account today. You need to be a member of ACC to have a look at request details since it involves some personally identifying information. Well, you can be of great help if you decide to join us. Guidelines for reviewing and granting new requests are here. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 23:11, 27 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Several questions. First, how would I try to look at it? I'm curious if it'll let me given that I'm a checkuser. Second, if the reason for the request was that the new account's name was too similar to an existing account, what do you do before granting it? Third, does the IP that the request comes in on belong to you, the new account, or something else? Just so you know because I don't want you to think this is idle curiosity, I blocked the account today and noticed the request. The new account is a  Confirmed sock puppet. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:00, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'll answer one by one. Once granted access to the tool, you can search the particular request number to find details about them (in present case, it is here). For this particular request, I did not get any notification from our anti-spoof for any similar accounts nor did the account creation interface popped up any (in general cases, similar accounts that 6 months old on en.wiki and/or 1 year on other Wikimedia project with less than 15 global edits are allowed to create over-riding anti-spoof. Detailed info. can be found here.). Yes, we get to look at IP address's block log (anon/school blocks that are one week old are ignored, and others deferred to CU/Proxy check unless otherwise notified in block log to ignore for us). Yup, I noticed that newly created account is blocked as confirmed sock. It happens sometimes. When I handled the requests, there was most probably no block on IP or a week old anon/school block. I hope it answers the question. Anupmehra -Let's talk! 03:33, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It answers some of what I wanted to know, but key elements (for me) are still missing. If I decide I want to know more, I'll talk to another checkuser. I now know that I cannot look at the request, or at least I don't know how. In any event, thanks very much for your patience. I appreciate it.--Bbb23 (talk) 04:13, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry if I was not clear. You may want to talk to DeltaQuad or Calanecc or MikeV (all are CU and member of ACC). Guidelines to join ACC is here. Register an account going to interface and confirm your account request on your talk page with this diff. link. That's it. You should then hopefully hear from one of ACC admin soon. @Nemzag: -Hi, I'm not sure if you have already figured it out but here it is. You were making a simple error of always using a left angle bracket. Please try this code, <font size="3"><span style="font-family:Andalus Text MT;color:black">ZZZ</span></font> to make "ZZZ" appear as "ZZZ". Good luck and happy editing Wikipedia! Anupmehra -Let's talk! 15:39, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no I not making an error with left bracket, but I use it, to cancel the command displaying in this page, since I don't know to use template like you by using <code< & <nowiki<,... I already tested that command that you show it is not vorking... ΘϷΕΝΑΝΑΤΕΣΟΣ (dôr.) ΤϷΕΝΑΝΑΘΕΣΟΣ (att.) @Nemzag: -Do not edit this page. Just copy what appears next to this sentence in between quotation marks, "<font size="3"><span style="font-family:Andalus Text MT;color:black">NEMZAG</span></font>". Anupmehra -Let's talk! 05:34, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Nemzag: - OKay, try one more time. Copy and paste the following code into your preferences "[[User:Nemzag|<font size="3"><span style="font-family:Andalus Text MT;color:black">ReplaceItWithYourDesiredName</span></font>]] ([[User talk:Nemzag|<font size="3"><span style="font-family:Andalus Text MT;color:black">talk</span></font>]])", and Tick the box below that says, Treat the above as wiki markup. This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that anyone with access to nonpublic information sign the new confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have access to nonpublic information and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. The general confidentiality agreement is now ready, and the OTRS agreement will be ready after 22 September 2015. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum@wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain your access to nonpublic information. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation

Brahmadeya

Any plans to move User:Anupmehra/Brahmadeya to the article namespace? I was editing an article on an ancient village, and came across the term. Thought of writing an article on it, but you've already done that. Your draft looks pretty solid. utcursch | talk 13:15, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
