Proposed deletion of Grzegorz Halama[edit]

The article Grzegorz Halama has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources or demonstration of notability.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Durova314 01:30, 10 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Grzegorz Halama has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did with this edit to Grzegorz Halama, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article.  Chzz  ►  14:24, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. A tag has been placed on Spójnia Świdwin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Vacant titles[edit]

'Vacant' means that, for some reason, there was no current title holder - because they retired undefeated, or some other reason. He did indeed win the title...

The title became vacant May 29 when the WBO stripped lineal champion Sergio Martinez, who had claimed the lineage and two sanctioning organization belts by outpointing Kelly Pavlik on April 17. But because Martinez also holds a junior middleweight belt, and the WBO wanted a decision on which title he would defend before Martinez had made up his mind, he was stripped. [1]

Gamecruft[edit]

Hello. I'm not American either ;) Generally I'd define gamecruft as something that clutters the article without really adding to it. Under WP:GAMECRUFT in the article guidelines, I'd class it under #6 - "Lists of gameplay items, weapons, or concepts". In Gran Turismo, this could be a list of cars or tracks, in Fight Night Round 4, a list of boxers. Let me know if you've any other questions! Thanks! Fin© 18:11, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Monitor. WikiProject Poland Newsletter: Issue 1 (April 2011)[edit]

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • April 2011
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to our first issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Our Project has been operational since 1 June, 2005, and also serves as the Poland-related Wikipedia notice board. I highly recommend watchlisting the Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland page, so you can be aware of the ongoing discussions. We hope you will join us in them, if you haven't done so already! Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; in this year alone about 40 threads have been started on our discussion page, and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised.

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

You have received this newsletter because you are listed as a [member link] at WikiProject Poland. • Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:11, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I very much appreciate your efforts to share Polish notable actors with the Wikipedia community. Quite recently your article on Peter J. Lucas was sent to AFD, pretty much because it did not share much about the individual beyond listing some of his acting projects and because it was not sourced. For BLPs this is a major concern. But rather than it being deleted, it was moved to a User:ArkadiuszEurope workspace at User:ArkadiuszEurope/Peter J. Lucas. I would be willing to assist in improving it. Nomination of Peter J. Lucas for deletion/Subsequent Conversation![edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Peter J. Lucas is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Peter J. Lucas (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Zaldax (talk) 01:07, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there!

I recently saw the message you posted on my talk page about improving the article in question: that's great, I'm glad you've chosen to do so!

Regarding your comment

"I will improve this article, because fot you that is too much effort.
I don't think like you, i prefer to improve articles than nominate them for deletion."

I must say I'm a little offended - I'm not a deletionist, but maximum discretion applies with a BLP, and seeing as how there was no reliable, secondary source attached and that the article was over a month old I felt it best to nominate it for deletion. I could have applied a CSD A7, or just PROD'ed it, but instead chose to list it as an AFD to give you or another interested editor the chance to save it. It's not that improving the article would be "too much effort" for me, its that Polish actors aren't my area of expertise; I merely encountered the article while patrolling new pages.

In the future, if you plan on improving a new article that may initially not meet Wikipedia standards, consider adding the template "{under construction}" (in proper template format, of course) -- that should inform any editor patrolling new pages of your intent to improve the article in the near future. Anyway, if you comment on the present AFD I'd be happy to move for a procedural close.

P.S. I notice you are from Poland! I actually recently visited Kraków and the nearby UNESCO World Heritage site, the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Yours is a lovely country!

Cheers, Zaldax (talk) 18:37, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the changes made to the article; since you've added reliable sources, I've withdrawn my nomination. Hooray!
I'm from the USA, but I was in Central Europe for an extended period of time recently -- Mostly in Prague and the Czech Republic, but also Poland, Austria, Slovakia, and Germany. Sadly, I could only spend a weekend in Poland - I had really wanted to visit the Baltic coast, but I simply didn't have time. I was in Kraków the weekend before the Eurocup, too, so that was certainly an interesting experience! Must admit that I didn't know too much about Polish history before I traveled there, but since my visit my interest is definitely growing. Cheers, Zaldax (talk) 18:49, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Aw, that's unfortunate - it's always sad when a coastal area isn't doing too great. There are similar problems in some areas of the USA; one example I know particularly well is the Chesapeake Bay, just outside of Washington D.C. It's getting better, because of the tourism industry and government/other efforts for conservation, but for the longest time it was pretty near death.
Huh; I didn't realize the summer didn't last as long there. Over in the States, we have a tendency to forget just how far south we are - I know geography pretty well, but I'm always surprised on some level to realize that the northernmost point of Maine is directly across only from central France. Granted, I think part of that is because we tend to have pretty weird weather over here sometimes - where I live, it can be 32o C and sunny one minute, 10 minutes later it's 27o and thunderstorming, and then 10 minutes after that it's like it never even rained! We've got a saying, actually: "If you don't like the weather, wait."
Anyway, I've never actually been to either the Mediterranean or to Western Europe; while I've traveled all over the USA, and I've been to Canada a couple of times, this was my first time overseas. I actually didn't meet too many Americans while I was in Eastern/Central Europe (to be honest, I wasn't really looking for any - that's a stereotype I try to avoid. :P) - most tend to start out in the West, like France, the UK, or Italy, but I had an opportunity to "jump right in" so I took it. I have to say, I'm very glad I did; it was a fantastic experience. Oh, one more thing; you all in Europe appreciate food so much more than the average American - I'm talking about stuff like using proper ingredients, authentically-sourced products (the other day, I was in my supermarket and found "Parmesan Cheese" made in Wisconsin...), and just generally better cooking. As an Italian-American, that made me very, very happy. Cheers. Zaldax (talk) 13:25, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removing AfD template[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Peter J. Lucas. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. This is an automated message from a bot about this edit, where you removed the deletion template from an article before the deletion discussion was complete. If this message is in error, please report it. Snotbot  t • c »  01:38, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II[edit]

WikiProject Poland Newsletter • January 2014 • Issue II
For our freedom and yours

Welcome to the second issue of WikiProject Poland newsletter, the Monitor (named after the first Polish newspaper).

Unlike many other WikiProjects, we are quite active; we get close to a hundred discussion threads each year and we do a pretty good job at answering all issues raised. Last year we were featured in the Signpost, and our interviewer was amazed at our activity. In the end, however, even as active as we are, we are just a tiny group - you can easily become one of our core members!

In addition to a lively encyclopedic, Poland-related, English-language discussion forum, we have numerous useful tools that can be of use to you - and that you could help us maintain and develop:

  • we have an active assessment department. As of now, our project has tagged almost 83,000 pages as Poland-related - that's an improvement of over 3,000 new pages since the last newsletter. Out of which 30 still need a quality assessment, and 2,000, importance assessment. We have done a lot to clear the backlog here (3 years ago those numbers were 1,500 and 20,000, respectively). Can you help assess a few pages?
    • assessing articles is as easy as filling in the class= and importance= parameters on the talk page in the {{WPPOLAND|class=|importance=}} template. See here for a how-to guide.
  • once an article has an assessment template, it will appear in our article alerts and news feed, which provides information on which Poland-related articles are considered for deletion, move, or are undergoing a Good or Featured review. Watchlisting that feed, in addition to watchlisting our project's main page, is a good way to make sure you stay up to date on most Poland-related discussions.
  • you can also see detailed deletion discussions at Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Poland (which is a good place to watchlist if you just want to stay up to date on possible deletions of Poland-related content)
  • we have also begun B-class quality reviews on our talk page, and if our activity increases, hopefully we will be able to institute our own A-class quality reviews. As of now, we have about 500 C-class articles in need of a B-class review. If you'd like to help with them, instructions for doing B-class reviews are to be found in point 10 of our assessment FAQ. In addition to this automated list, you are also encouraged to help review articles from our B-class reviews requested list found here.
  • also, those articles will be included in our cleanup listing, which allows us to see which top-importance articles are in need for attention, and so on. We have tens of thousands articles in need of cleanup there, so if you ever need something to do, just look at this gigantic list. (I am currently reviewing the articles tagged with notability, either proving them notable or nominating for deletion; there are still several dozens left if you want to help!).
  • did you know that newly created Poland-related articles are listed here. They need to be reviewed, often cleaned-up, occasionally nominated for deletion, and their creators may need to be welcomed and invited to our project if they show promise as new authors of Poland-related content.
  • we are maintaining a Portal:Poland
  • automated Wikipedia:WikiProject Poland/Popular pages lists the most popular Poland-related pages from the previous month(s)
  • Breaking news: we are looking for a Wikipedian in Residence for the New York City area. See Wikipedia:GLAM/Józef Piłsudski Institute of America for details.

This is not all; on our page you can find a list of useful templates (including userboxes), awards and other tools!

With all that said, how about you join our discussions at WT:POLAND? Surely, there must be something you could help others with, or perhaps you are in need of assistance yourself?

It took me three years to finish this issue. Feel free to help out getting the next one before 2017 by being more active in WikiProject management :)

Proposed deletion of Licomp Empirical Multimedia[edit]

The article Licomp Empirical Multimedia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:19, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
