Your GA nomination of India national football team

The article India national football team you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:India national football team for reasons why the nomination failed. I am hesitant because the website as well as Twitter and Facebook are still using the traditional logo. The one with two stars seems just the modification for crest on jerseys. Coderzombie (talk) 07:52, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, broadcast is using this logo, so I am replacing this with new logo. Though it'd be good to see if we can find SVG logo. Coderzombie (talk)

Youth League

I have been doing some work to rename U18 related pages, but I have some confusion regarding category. Should Category:I-League U18 be moved or create a new category Category:Youth League U18? Thoughts? Coderzombie (talk) 18:37, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You can check on the official website. The logo has changed as well and I think it'd make sense considering ISL youth teams are participating as well and they wouldn't be too keen on participating in tournament that has I-League in it :) Coderzombie (talk) 18:46, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'll do the move, but I don't think we should change the name in previous season pages, because it was called I-League U18 in the previous seasons. Coderzombie (talk) 18:48, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that came out ambiguous. Of course, I'll not change the name. I meant Category names in the previous seasons. e.g. 2016–17 I-League U18 page with Category Youth League U18 instead of I-League U18 sounds odd, but not sure if redirected categories are allowed like in case of pages. Coderzombie (talk) 19:45, 30 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2011 I-League U19

I was about to create the page then I realized that you already had that page under user page. Why don't you move it to main space? Coderzombie (talk) 08:41, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

India u17 players

I made some edits on the Wikipedia pages of Boris Singh Thangjam and Sanjeev Stalin. Why have they been removed? Isn't Boris known for his endurance levels, speed and dribbling ability Or isn't Sanjeev Stalin known for his set piece prowess? The little bit of information I provided would have allowed others to know them a bit better. You are just sticking to statistics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Indian1992AD (talkcontribs) 07:01, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of deleted articles

Hi ArsenalFan700, thank you again for your hard work and edits on Indian football. I just wanted to let you know that I have asked the closing admin to restore the articles that were deleted in this discussion that now meet WP:NFOOTY so if you could kindly wait a day or two before recreated them to prevent confusion that would be great. Once they are restored you of course will be free to edit them as much as you like. Thanks! Inter&anthro (talk) 20:10, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Rethinking club page titles

Something has been bothering me lately. Indian club pages have no consistency. Almost all the old clubs of pre-BFC era have "F.C." in the title, where as the clubs after that including BFC have "FC" in the title. I assume the reason being that most of them were created by you and you have followed the convention followed by MLS, where as the other clubs are titled in the European club style. Do you think we should make an effort to standardize them? Coderzombie (talk) 09:26, 16 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why though? On what basis should we keep this difference? I don't see any reason to keep it different, except it might be too much work, but that we can handle step by step. And of course, we need larger consensus, but I want to convince myself first. Coderzombie (talk) 02:29, 17 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Chennaiyin FC

Shouldn't Chennaiyin FC Youth and Chennaiyin FC B on the same page, like other clubs with page under "Reserves and Academy"? Coderzombie (talk) 07:05, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

While I see your point, the league setup and not-so-professional nature of youth league in India, no Indian clubs should need two separate pages for youth and reserves set up. Similar to English club pages where they have Manchester United F.C. Reserves and Academy style pages. Regarding 2nd division, I thought of trying it out a couple of times, but there's depressingly low information about it this season. So I thought of waiting till it's announced or at least we know the teams that will participate. Coderzombie (talk) 07:21, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I have already moved Bengaluru FC Academy to Bengaluru FC Reserves and Academy. Coderzombie (talk) 12:36, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Avram Grant

But does club identify him as such anywhere? I wouldn't mind keeping it if there was a source. Coderzombie (talk) 08:17, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I am hesitating is, even Eelco Schattorie is a part of the coaching unit, so not sure who's really the head coach any more. Coderzombie (talk) 08:20, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a good idea, because this article seems to imply that he's the one handling everything. Coderzombie (talk) 08:25, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh that's good then. Coderzombie (talk) 09:00, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Re: ISL reserve sides in 2nd Divison

To be honest, I am confused about it. Let's wait for the tournament to start, let's see what I-League website calls them or what the clubs call them. Personally, I am in favour of a page like Bengaluru FC Reserves and Academy kind of page, because there won't be any way enough content for youth teams AND reserve teams. So if there is just one page like this, it can serve everywhere from 2nd div to U18 league. Coderzombie (talk) 17:11, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The advantage of keeping that name is that it's kind of standardized and we don't have to depend on whims of clubs, e.g. BFC sometimes calls it 'B' team, sometimes calls it reserve team. Coderzombie (talk) 17:12, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And as far as the display name goes, we can use it whatever I-League page uses like Bengaluru FC Reserves or Bengaluru 'B'. Coderzombie (talk) 17:18, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, and now people are creating pages like these without any content. I hate this. Coderzombie (talk) 06:15, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WOSO editors! A few initiatives have been started with an emphasis on making more WOSO links blue (similar to the work that WikiProject Women in Red does) and filling in the gaps within various league, team, and player, etc. articles.

If you're interested in collaborating with others to make more links blue, take a look at the initiatives listed in the box below. Sign up at the bottom of an initiative page and help grow the lists, add potential references, resources, and create the articles ... or create your own initiative.

Did you know ...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in 1 active women's league)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks.

Has an article you worked on been nominated for deletion? See:

Want some tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors?
Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

2018 Cosmos

I removed your nomination for deletion of the 2018 New York Cosmos season article. Please see my reasons on the talk page. Taxman1913 (talk) 22:50, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As the author and the primary contributor of the article in question; I would also like to point out the vagueness of the criteria for "season pages". The Cosmos are currently playing in a Semi-Professional league, using a vast majority of professional players that have appeared in matches for fully professional teams and leagues. They are also competing in the premier domestic cup competition in the United States; U.S. Open Cup. There seems to be an anti-American leaning to the "rules" as well. In the article that you linked, it lists the approved leagues that teams must be a part of to have a "season" article. It does say that the list is not complete, but you need to apply the same rules to every team. For example; Leyton Orient participated in the top division of the Conference National League. The divisions are outside the Football League of England, and are on par with an American Semi-Pro designation. Leyton Orient has a 2017-'18 "season" article. They will not gain promotion to the Football League Two for the 2018-'19 campaign either. I am not pushing for a "nomination for deletion" of them, but rather fans/supporters of ALL teams should be able to create pages for their local clubs if they see fit.

Players' Record and Statics

Why do you remove this section, "Most capped players" and Highest goalscorers". If you need source one can provide,me too, but you can keep them there so that atleast people see them and contribute with sources. Whatever I have provided in this section is very true and accurate. People do want to know about earlier players who played and scored for India. Another I was going to add, "Goalkeepers of India since 1948" and "Gallery of famous Indian Players". But why do you remove, Keep them so that it get verified and section become proper and it works. And if your need sources instantly than each line need a source verification. Please undo it and let people contribute. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dey subrata (talkcontribs) 09:21, 7 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Professional Season Pages

I don’t hold a grudge for taking down my page a few months back, I realize that you were just doing your job. I have just noticed that there is a 2018-‘19 Hashtag United season page. It’s playing in the 9th or 10th division in the English pyramid. I don’t think I have the authority or know how to recommend the page for deletion. So I come to you.

Why have u proposed these pages for deletion. There is enough references and I can give more. These two are the players who play for ATK 'B' in I league 2nd division.Phantom Lancer001 (talk) 03:09, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Lara Sharma and Jedidi Haokip

I-League 2nd division is a professional league and is a second tier of Indian football pyramid. Who said u it is not fully professional. From which country u r from. Lara Sharma and Jedidi Haokip are both ATK players. Follow the I league website or I league app. If 2nd division players don't get a wiki page then plz remove all the wiki pages of 2nd division players from all around the globe. For more info I have given suitable references. Follow them u will get whether they are professionals or not. Phantom Lancer001 (talk) 11:20, 3 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Opening ceremony of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, Parc de Princes, Paris, June 7, 2019

Hello WOSO editors! What a 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France! There has been a lot of activity on tournament- and player-related Wikipedia articles with all of the worldwide coverage of the tournament and its players. Let's keep the momentum going.

WOMEN IN SPORTS EDIT-A-THON FOR JULY + AUGUST!

WikiProject Women in Red is focusing on Women in Sports during their edit-a-thon for July & August 2019.

Get all the info here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Meetup/126

Sign up and help fill in the gaps within various articles related to women's football / soccer - whether they be players, teams, leagues, historical, administrators, referees, etc. Every little bit helps. Be sure to tag your article talk pages with {{WIR-126}}.

These edit-a-thons are a great way to work with others to help bridge the gender gaps on Wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions!

Did you know...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NFOOTY (which only includes the players in two currently active women's leagues)? Often times there is enough media coverage that meets WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. For more information, see WP:WOSO#Notability and be sure to tag the new article talk page with: {{WP Women's sport|footy=yes}}

Current and upcoming seasons for top-division leagues

Have some new articles in mind or see some that need improvement? Add them to the Open Tasks.

Was an article you worked on nominated for deletion? See:

Want some tips, assistance, or resources from other WOSO editors?
Leave a message on the task force talk page.

Thank you for your continued contributions to articles related to women's football / soccer (WOSO)!

Notice

The article 2016 Durand Cup Final has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This page doesn't make sense. It's about the final match, but there is nothing in the article. All the stuff written here can be found in 2016 Durand Cup, and no extra information given. Also the article is way to short.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 😄  S a  h a  16:00, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
