I suggest you bring it up to GNG as I don't view him as notable. GiantSnowman 18:32, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

GNG is more important than NFOOTBALL. GiantSnowman 18:46, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
NFOOTBALL is merely a time-saving device - a player who meets NFOOTBALL is presumed to meet GNG and they are given, for want of a better phrase, a stay of execution - but they have to meet GNG or they'll go, whether that's a handful of appearances in the I-League or 100 in the Premiership. A tag has been placed on 2011 I-League U19, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the article's talk page directly to give your reasons. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pratap Singh

You mentioned at WP:FOOTY that you were interested in finding information on the referee Pratap Singh. I have created a pretty basic article at Pratap Singh (referee) that you might want to improve. I also created Category:Indian football referees, which now has a membership of one. Hack (talk) 05:00, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Some other refs you might be interested in
  • S.S. Hakim, international ref from the late 70s, also Olympic footballer.[2] Son of former Indian coach.[3]
  • Melvyn D'Souza, referee at 1979 U-20 FIFA World Cup. Also controlled the match that started the 19 May incident (there is already an article on the French WP about him). Hack (talk) 06:43, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I am somewhat confused by this article for various reasons:

  1. The only reference is meant to point to the squad list for East Bengal but is a broken link. As East Bengal are not mentioned elsewhere, why is this particular reference used?
  2. This article says that he was transferred from East Bengal to Air India in 2010–11, but with no details.
  3. This article says that he moved on from Air India to Dodsal on 27 May 2012. Unfortunately, I can't read the reference cited.
  4. He is now listed in the Dodsal FC first-team squad on Wikipedia.
  5. www.goal.com give his age as 42, whereas www.transfermarkt.co.uk gives his date of birth as 15 July 1987 (Age 25). Which is correct? (The latter seems more likely for an active footballer.)

Clearly, the article needs a major re-write if it is to remain on Wikipedia. Cheers. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 04:41, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

p.s. Why is the Air India club article at Air India (football club) rather than Air India F.C.?
Thanks for sorting that out - the article now makes sense. It would be good if you could find out how many matches he actually played for Air India. Best wishes & happy editing. Keep cool. -- Daemonic Kangaroo (talk) 05:33, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sunil Chhetri

Hi there, I really appreciate your work here...I'm very new here. I had updated that Sunil Chhetri (and some other sportsmen) were members of the India Gorkha Community and you have removed it. May I know why? Gomusam (talk) 11:17, 28 July 2012 (UTC)Gomusam Elo ratings in nehru cup 2012[reply]

Hey Thanks Arsenalkid700,
Well...I know for a fact that Sunil's surname indicates that he is an 'Indian Gorkha'.You can also check the discussions on his surname(in Wikipedia), and this is mentioned there.
I have now put back the mention on his page and along with this reference: http://www.amazon.fr/Indian-People-Nepali-Descent-Books/dp/images/1155364929

Elo Ratings in 2012 Nehru Cup

Hi guys, I don't why Elo rating is removed which I had added. You know Elo ratings give more comprehensive position of countries and comparatively better understanding of quality of strength of teams. We're not gonna lose anything if we provide Elo ratings to our readers since FIFA ratings have come down to severe criticism of late. I hope you people don't revert it back without having a fair discussion. Please it doesn't take more than a column for elo ratings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.192.174.134 (talk) 04:21, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Quite simple really. I call random Indian phone numbers until I can get one of them to e-mail me the word thank you in Hindi. Then I copy it from my email and paste it onto the talk page. Voila. And it only cost me ₹3750. Adam4267 (talk) 21:56, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

At the above AfD, you said that you were going to see if the Clube met the GNC - did you get a chance to? I couldn't find anything sufficient to show that they meet the criteria, and personally I don't think that just because a minor club took part in the first stage of the Cup competition it means it is automatically notable. Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. --John (talk) 19:36, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arsenal squad numbers

There are reliable sources out there other than the official Arsenal website. FootballSquads has long been established as a credible and comprehensive resource for squad numbers. I don't see any problem with it being used in this instance, especially with the Arsenal site being slow to update. Regards, Mattythewhite (talk) 11:59, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Despite out disagreement with your edits regarding licensed fixture lists (and the fact that you're an Arsenal fan), I wanted to point out that I think you've done an exception job in you overall editing and cleanup of a multitude of football-related Wikipedia pages. It can be frustrating to see such poor contributions or messy additions and your overall contributions have been nothing short of professional. Good job! Disambiguation link notification for August 19

Hi. When you recently edited 2012-13 Goa Professional League, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Panji (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Babajide Ogunbiyi

Thanks for the comment at my talk page. I've noticed that US college athletes who otherwise struggle to meet sport-specific notability criteria often are the subject of a lot of local, regional and even national coverage in the media. So if you have an athlete like Ogunbiyi who is a bit different, you are able to find a lot more coverage. Hack (talk) 02:00, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All US college sports are amateur in the sense that players are not supposed to be paid but that doesn't really account for the overall professional nature of the business. Some of these college sporting programs would rival a lot of European football clubs in terms of money and facilities. The fully-pro requirement in WP:NFOOTY is used purely as a guide to interpret whether a player might have received sufficient coverage in reliable sources to meet WP:GNG. It is assumed that a player in a fully-pro league will have received more coverage than a fellow athlete in a semi-pro league. The reality is that there are many players who technically meet WP:NFOOTY but who might not meet WP:GNG (not that I really want to rock the boat on that issue). Name change - Reply

Hi there KID, VASCO here,

i had just recently heard of the dangers of editing with your real name, and also wanted to make a fresh start overall. Everything in the mix led to the move, now it's done and over with, will stay with this one until "the bitter end".

Kind regards, happy week - --AL (talk) 18:10, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2012–13 Arsenal F.C. season

Best to reach a consensus with before making extensive changes. Plus there isn't any need to set yourself a deadline, per WP:TIND – it can be done once the season ends or before the next one begins, as it would be comprehensive. My main concern is with the tables, after all less is more. Just having a quick look at it now, the review section is illegible – prose can be tightened, but unfortunately have little to no time to work on it. Arsenal season article again

What you're supposed to do is not edit war. If it's clear vandalism you're welcome to revert. The anon's edits were not as far as I could tell clear vandalism, but if you think they were, please explain why at the article's talk page.

See the third sentence of WP:Edit warring: Note that an editor who repeatedly restores his or her preferred version is edit warring, whether or not his or her edits were justifiable: it is no defence to say "but my edits were right, so it wasn't edit warring". cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:21, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wondered whether our postings might have crossed... Please go to the talk page and explain there what the problem is. It does no harm if the article is left at "their" version for a time while the discussion takes place. If the anon doesn't join in, and if your rationale makes sense, it can go back to an acceptable version. I've had a look at the talk page, and would be willing to help get it a bit closer to one of the better existing AFC season articles, if others haven't got the time at the moment to help with it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:30, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. I've just left a note at the talk page about the page protection (locking) procedure. Please don't take offence at this, but you'd be wise not to make the request yourself. The reviewing admin won't take kindly to a protection request made by someone recently warned for edit-warring on the article in question. And you might also be wise to stick to serious edit summaries. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:50, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Arsenal season yet again

Hello. I've left a note at User:ArsenalWiki's talk page about page protection. Please feel free to comment there.

As to kit sources: the home and away kits are reliably sourced everywhere, though the alternative colours of shorts may not be. And if the Premier League handbook has the yellow/redcurrant kit as Arsenal's third kit, then it is. If the club shop were selling something different as the third kit, there might be a problem, but they aren't. There are all sorts of sound marketing reasons why the shop isn't selling it: they might not have re-stocked yet, the club might have decided they won't sell enough to warrant ordering a new batch, whatever. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:01, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there A-KID (great album by the way, even though not my favorite no siree!), AL here,

i did some changes in this player's page which i feel i should report to you as a wiki-friend and a club fan, let's see how do you "support" my efforts:

1 - i removed the early section of CLUB CAREER because it was written in very poor English, contained no sources, etc, etc. I added one ref there myself; 2 - speaking of POV/WEASEL, removed the intro bit "He is known for his small stature and speed when dribbling around defenders during his time at Malaga and Villarreal.", one bit about his style of play is already there and SOURCED; 3 - i arranged the Arsenal section and added one ref; 4 - last but not least, i believe the INT.GOALS chart should go with the INT.CAREER section, not the STATS one, what's your intake in that department?

Attentively, have a great week - --AL (talk) 20:32, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Found out this: the user responsible for the unref'd lines in Cazorla's early CLUB CAREER is User talk:Nuriximmonat, he did the same in Miguel Pérez Cuesta writing "Michu was formed in the youth ranks of Real Oviedo. He debuted in the Third Division for the first team on October 26, 2003, in a match against Club Siero in which he scored the winning goal. In the season 2004 / 05 contributed to promotion to the Second Division B achieving the first goal for his team during the first leg of the promotion against Real Ávila, which ended with a victory at home by 1-5." (non-notable even with refs, let alone WITHOUT. And who the hell wins at home 1-5?!). Cheerio! --AL (talk) 21:13, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • No reply whatsoever? I don't think i was rude or incovenient, but sorry. --AL (talk) 16:13, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Another user that discovers that i am a bit of a crybaby, forgetting people have a life outside wiki and getting all uptight when i don't get an immediate reply, i'll have to admit i act like one more often i would like to...Cheers mate and safe return to school! --AL (talk) 22:38, 11 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Just noticed that you seem to forget the Step 3 in the AfD-process everytime you nominated an article for deletion.
