June 2012

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 1 month for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 18:52, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I told that user to stop. He did not. I stayed away from the 3 Revert rule. I even said here for others to help and I even said for someone to protect the page so the user could stop. Now I dont know but apparently that means I should be blocked for 1 month. That is ridiculous. I was not even edit warring as through definition given here. I only reverted 2 of Neca's edits. The other edits I did by clicking the edit button and removing un-referenced information. By Wikipedia definition that is not edit warring.

Decline reason:

"Removing un-referenced information" is not an exemption from edit warring policy. The edit history of Manuel Gomes shows you quite obviously were engaged in an extended edit war. --jpgordon::==( o ) 21:14, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Fine you caught me... sorry.

You did it. First off User:FootballinIndiaWiki and User:IndianFootballPlayersWiki where not meant to evade a block. I have had those 2 accounts for a long time. I only wanted to say that Greece went through because the other users said they would not. User:RedBullNewYork2012 was an evader account.

I am sorry but I can not wait 1 month to edit wikipedia specially with all the things that will happen during the next month because of AFC U-22 Asian Cup qualifiers, India national football team news, Nehru Cup news, I-League news. This is the offseason, many things will happen and I can not stand to see them happen and I cant add them here. Then once I come back the Indian football pages will look the same way as it looked when I first started on wikipedia 1 and a half years ago... crap and unreadable. Dont believe me, then look through the edit history of all the Indian football pages and you will see. Anyway now what ever User:Fenix down said is true... I have been a troll but only today. What he said about me before is bull. Anyway I want to know when this block is expiring now. According to whenever I click edit on a page it says 15 July still yet you did indefinitely. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 23:59, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I was waiting to see if you actually responded to the messages I left. However, as things stand you are going to have to wait a month to edit, because that was the length of the original block - if you don't further evade it. You could originally have submitted an unblock request admitting that you were wrong and that you would not edit-war any further and that may well have been successful; you may still wish to do that, although using the other accounts to evade your block is going to count against you now. However, I will not increase the block length unless you evade it again. Black Kite (talk) 00:14, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I wont evade it but I do have three questions if you dont mind.
  1. I currently have school for 2 more days and I am currently in a discussion with other users about football matters. If I use the school IP Address to reply to them would it still count as evading my block. I would only use the IP at school to say I am blocked, lets finish this discussion now and so on. I would only edit if it was an emergency (Example: an announcement that the India national football team would be playing this team in a friendly this day... I would need to edit because I am the only Indian football user who can properly format the game on the Indian football page. That has always been the case with past announcements of games).
  2. Can I use my user talk page as a way to create articles. I just need to click "new section" and create what I want on here. That way, when I am unblocked, I can just copy and paste the section into an independent page. Which leads to my third question...
  3. Can you or anyone make it so that I can only edit pages within my own user space.... like for example I can edit User:Arsenalkid700/Uttam Rai but can't edit any other pages not with User:Arsenalkid700/[Insert Page]. If not than fine. Cheers. And again sorry for my actions. I wont be requesting to be unblocked because, like you said, there is enough evidence to decline. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 00:52, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • 1. Don't. 2. Yes. 3. No. However, can I make a suggestion? You are only blocked on en.wiki - why not make an account elsewhere (for example Simple English Wikipedia)? You could help improve their articles (their Arsenal article could do with definite help!) plus you could use your userspace there to create subpages for things you want to copy over to here after your block ends... Black Kite (talk) 08:29, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Good suggestion Black Kite. Arsenalkid you are a useful contributor and I know you can continue making great additions for the world to see... but a cooling-off period is going to help you. Simple English wiki gives you the chance to make some kind of compromise - and when you come back here you will be ready to go! You can do it. Cloudz679 08:45, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Cloudz and Black Kite. I will do that. See you all in a months (well less than that now) times. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 13:16, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I said I would but I cant. I need to edit wikipedia right now. Currently there are two pages on deletion which I believe should not be but I cant make my case and they will probably be deleted by 15 July. Also the qualifiers for the 2014 AFC U-22 Asian Cup begin tomorrow for India and no one has bothered to update the squad. Heck, the birth date of a few players is way off and untrue. Also news is coming out soon on I-League and based on what I have seen so far sense I was blocked I doubt will be added. Also the amount of vandalism I have seen sense I was blocked is huge. I was told that I was not to worry and that other editors would find it but that has not been the case. It remains. If all this has happened in 1 week than imagine what everything will look like by the 15th of July. Yes I know the reason I was blocked was because I was in an edit war but I am sorry. I was an idiot. I should have quickly gone on WikiProject Football and notified the group there and requested it to the page be protected. I have learned from my mistakes and if I do it again than give me a yearly ban. Thank you. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 19:35, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Your unblock rationale fails to address the reason you were blocked. Current events have nothing whatsoever to do with your block.

However, because you have been cooperative and candid since you were blocked, and show a real interest in improving this project, I have reduced your block to 8 days. It will expire tomorrow.

Be warned, however, that if you engage in any edit warring (note that even two reverts can be considered warring), you will be blocked for an even longer period. We welcome improvements to Wikipedia, but disruption in any form will not be tolerated, especially from one who has established a history of disruptive behavior. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:25, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind. My block is reduced and I shall take that. Thank you so much User:Amatulic for all you have done! --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 20:22, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 20:40, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

1 month restored

After discussion with the "block changing admin", the original 1 month block has been returned. You did, after all, WP:EVADE this block not just once, but with multiple accounts. That month was based purely on normal escalation processes for edit-warring, and should have been extended further for your attempted block evasion. At this point, the 1 month is fair protection for this project, as you seem to believe that your need to "repair" things is more important that the edit-warring policy. Indeed, you should have thought of that before breaking such a core policy that you are already well-aware of.

In addition, because you have been using the talkpage for things other than requesting unblock, I have removed your ability to edit it for the duration of the block. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 23:50, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And I want to apologize to you, Arsenalkid, for getting you caught up in a disagreement between two admins. I understand that you probably feel like a football that has been kicked back and forth between two players, and I apologize for that. Also I extend an apology to Bwilkins, because this situation was my fault for not being familiar enough with the policy that requires me to communicate with the blocking admin before I took the action I did. I understand the situation better now, and both of us agree that considering the sockpuppetry issues, your block could have been longer than it is.
I believe, and I suspect Bwilkin would agree, that you have the potential to be a good editor here, and it is unfortunate that your experience here ended up the way it did. Don't worry about the articles under threat of deletion. If they are deleted, and you can restore them with improvements that address the concerns that led to deletion, then they will be kept next time around. Just wait another 3 weeks and I hope to see you again! ~Amatulić (talk) 02:01, 23 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
