Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, ArtInspiration4all, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! A tag has been placed on Draft:John, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. @ArtInspiration4all the page was deleted, so I will say here what I was going to say in reply to your comment on the talk page of your draft:
The language of the page is highly promotional; instead of describing the subject neutrally, it talks about how great it is and uses advertising-style language.
Do you have some kind of off-wiki connection to the topic being discussed, by any chance? AntiDionysius (talk) 19:19, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello AntiDionysius,
I understand. However, I disagree with the premise that the page was highly promotional. I mean, I provided mainly third party citations, specially news articles. If you have a better solution to appropriately amend the description of the page, I am very open to hear your suggestions and amendments.
I appreciate your feedback!
Best,

The citations aren't the issue, the issue was the language. I don't have line-by-line examples to hand now that the page has been deleted, but the article was written in a style that sounded like its aim was to convince the reader of the quality and uniqueness of its subject (this page gives examples of that kind of language).
Wikipedia's style is meant instead to dispassionately recount the objective facts. Even if there are sources which describe something as great, the Wikipedia page should only include that kind of subjective judgement with attribution: you would never say "the magnificent painting", but might say "the painting, described by [author X] as 'magnificent'". AntiDionysius (talk) 20:51, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you are deleting my post. Would it be possible for you to refer the article to be written by someone else Wikipedia approves of? ArtInspiration4all (talk) 19:37, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't a mechanism to get other people to write articles for you, I'm afraid. There is a place where one can add to a list of article ideas but it's a very long list and the chances that someone takes your idea up in the near future are slim.
But the article being written by you is only a problem if you do have a personal connection to the subject: do you?
Because if not, there is nothing to stop you trying to write it again, having taken some time to learn about Wikipedia's writing style and how to avoid coming across as promotional. --AntiDionysius (talk) 20:56, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, I do not have a connection to the subject.

I will go ahead and try to rewrite it to the appropriate specifications.
Thank you! ArtInspiration4all (talk) 22:02, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Netherzone,
Thank you for your feedback.
Respectfully, I disagree with your reasons for not accepting the article for submission.
  1. If you read the source material, the "Notability" of the painting is significantly more than just the history and story behind it being stolen. For example, just a few of the sources sited, the original was featured on the Katie Couric Show, featured in the Best-Selling book and movie "Heaven Is For Real" and published in countless media outlets.
If you would like me to add more sources that speak to the "Notability" angle you feel would be appropriate, please let me know, because there are many articles, stories and testimonies from people about this painting.
I look forward to your correspondence on the edits!
