Dear NJD-DE I am the copyright holder of Frank Wright (painter) Frank Wright recently died. I am his daughter, the executor of his estate and have power of attorney.

I am clearly a first time contributor to Wikipedia and made mistakes!

I manage my father's web page, [[1]] as well as his email, artoffrankwright@gmail.com. I added text to his Wikipedia page from his paid death notice, which I wrote.

How do I do this right?

PS, A former student of my father's (Redacted) started a Wikipedia page without my father's consent.

Hi - I've removed the name of the person you say started the page in question in order to protect their privacy. It is strictly forbidden to reveal the identity of other editors here - see WP:DOXXING - only an individual user can decide whether or not to make their real identity known. Please don't mention that name again.

So, the consent of a subject is not required for someone to write an article about that subject. Indeed, our conflict of interest guidance indicates that you should not edit the article of a person who is known to you. You should not, therefore, edit the page about your father, but you are welcome to make edit requests, suggesting that changes be made to it, and other uninvolved editors will evaluate them.

In order for us to use any images of your father's work, you will need to release them under an appropriate licence, and you will need to demonstrate that you are indeed the copyright holder. The best way for you to do that would be via e-mail to the WP:OTRS volunteer team - they will be able to provide information about how best to go about doing that.

Finally, I think that you should request a change of username - usernames which unambiguously represent websites are not permitted by our username policy. Something like "Jo@ArtofFrankWright" would be fine, but it needs to identify an individual. The instructions for requesting a change of name are at WP:UNC.

[[User talk:Girth Summit| Thanks so so much for the help! I am an art historian but OLD (in my 50s!), so I get everything you are saying. The ways of Wikipedia all just super new to me! I didn't get, for example, that this conversation was public... Of course need to protect user identity!!!

I understand now that articles are written by others, not the subject of the article or their family, etc.

I will submit text to "edit requests" and will change my user name. Thank you!
