2011 World Cup

[edit]

If you look at the fixtures page at Cricinfo.com, you will see that the first semi-final (SF1) is listed as Match D (QF4) vs Match F (QF3), and the second semi-final is listed as Match C (QF1) vs Match E (QF2). Since it is reasonable to assume that the final will be SF1 vs SF2, given that we have no evidence to suggest otherwise, the bracket should have QF4 first, followed by QF3, QF1 and QF2, in that order. – PeeJay 23:53, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is arbitrary! Its always 1 v 2 until the toss. Then it becomes team batting first v bowling first. Cricinfo seems to have made a typo. Please check the Official site for the correct version. Also there is no need to change the sequence of the QF matches. If you still want to do that, discuss it first in the talk page. ashwinikalantri talk 09:59, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, so it can be QF3 v QF4 or QF4 v QF3, but the final is still SF1 v SF2, so the quarter-finals should definitely be in the order QF3, QF4, QF1, QF2. – PeeJay 10:12, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why? Talk about it in the talk pages. ashwinikalantri talk 10:17, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To both of you: Is it important enough to edit war and get blocked over? Please be reminded that the three revert rule is not an entitlement. Neither here, nor anywhere else. Thanks.--Tikiwont (talk) 10:14, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2011 cricket world cup final

[edit]

Please do not revert my edit until the teams are known, as this is done with all other finals. For example, the 2011 AFC Asian cup. Intoronto1125 (talk) 21:46, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not here. There is enough info for the 2011 Cricket World cup to deserve its page. ashwinikalantri talk 05:42, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not saying it does not deserve its page, rather it should be hidden until later tommorow untill at least one team is known. Intoronto1125 (talk) 12:40, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Zero rupee back.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Zero rupee back.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 05:47, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've re-added the link to the India-Pakistan cricket rivalry article as that section is now linked from the main page in a bold ITN link and thus there will be a lot of people reading it who don't know about the rivalry, feel free to re-revert once its off the main page (or I will do so myself). Replaceable fair use File:HP Pre 3.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:HP Pre 3.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 18:22, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ambassador Program: assessment drive

[edit]

Even though it's been quiet on-wiki, the Wikipedia Ambassador Program has been busy over the last few months getting ready for the next term. We're heading toward over 80 classes in the US, across all disciplines. You'll see courses start popping up here, and this time we want to match one or more Online Ambassadors to each class based on interest or expertise in the subject matter. If you see a class that you're interested, please contact the professor and/or me; the sooner the Ambassadors and professors get in communication, the better things go. Look for more in the coming weeks about next term.

In the meantime, with a little help I've identified all the articles students did significant work on in the last term. Many of the articles have never been assessed, or have ratings that are out of date from before the students improved them. Please help assess them! Pick a class, or just a few articles, and give them a rating (and add a relevant WikiProject banner if there isn't one), and then update the list of articles.

Once we have updated assessments for all these articles, we can get a better idea of how quality varied from course to course, and which approaches to running Wikipedia assignments and managing courses are most effective.

Hi AshwiniKalantri,

The First WikiConference India is being organized in Mumbai and will take place on 18-20 November 2011.
You can see our Official website, the Facebook event and our Scholarship form.

But the activities start now with the 100 day long WikiOutreach.

We look forward to see you at Mumbai on 18-20 November 2011

Hello, AshwiniKalantri, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you worked on, History of MGIMS, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

It helps to explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on the Help Desk. Thanks again for contributing! I, Jethrobot drop me a line (note: not a bot!) 08:06, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:WebOS logo.svg needs authorship information.

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:WebOS logo.svg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided),authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:{{subst:usernameexpand|AshwiniKalantri}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:50, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Orphaned non-free media (File:CBSE Logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:CBSE Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. File source problem with File:1983 Cricket WC.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:1983 Cricket WC.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Notice

The article Voctronica has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability, and the claim of significance - "India's first a capella group" strikes me as implausible, although just plausible enough to avoid A7.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – John M Wolfson (talkcontribs) 05:20, 14 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
