The 'first'[edit]

I quite understand you are against the use of "First Annual", having seen your 10th edit here. The problem is in distinguishing a name from a description. You may say it is the 'inaugural' instance, but its name may be "First Annual Whatchamacallit". In particular, you can see exactly this difference in the article 1959 Daytona 500. (I'm having trouble with the extref in the article, but the picture "souvenir program" at [1] ought to help you)

As for whether 1969 in music should have "First Annual" vs. 'Inaugural', I'll offer three observations:

Given the times, "First Annual" was used in tongue-in-cheek fashion
I point you to Rock festival where the "First Annual Detroit Rock & Roll Revival" is mentioned
The word is 'inaugural', not 'innaugural', which fixing brought me to 1969 in music to begin with (e.g. [2])

Dogmatism is not a good starting principle here. But happily, investigating this has surfaced that the original editor had dates confused, and I will move the mention into May where it belongs. Shenme (talk) 06:21, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
