Maybe I can indicate the senatorial zones with colours, I could change them. I already added a map for some LGA's such as Enugu East, I will try and upload the rest later. Yeah, the thing is there is SO much work to do in every department of the project that I tend to spread my editing around. One minute I'll be editing an Argentine film, the next a Sum of Mongolia etc. This project has to be one of the most ambitious ever I think It is incredibly demanding and time consuming building an encyclopedia of this scale. Oax

You are correct, it is a very complex place, climatologically, geographically and socially/culturally. Its one of the few states in Mexico that still has a majority "indigenous" population...While Spanish is undoubtedly spoken by the majority of the citizens, all one has to do is visit a market to realize that Zapotec, Mixtec, and other indigenous languages are still widely spoken. In fact, some of the Universities have started intensive language programs replacing "traditional" offerings of "French" or "German" with Mixtec and Zapotec.

I eventually plan on creating articles for both the Ixtlan municipality and district...but right now my main focus has been gathering materials for articles on several of the larger markets...Wal*Mart has not arrived in Oaxaca yet, but Sam's Club opened about five years ago and several Mexican grocery chains soon followed...and well... the way of life has started to drastically change...and even disappear.

They look good. I like how you expanded Costa Chica... in fact, I will try to go through later and add your sourced info into the ES.Wiki article (or do you know Spanish?).. That said, they could probably be merged here on EN wiki. Spanish Wiki has less "structure" (oversight, lower article "standards" etc) than EN wiki, and sometimes geographical articles are needlessly separated (or duplicated) from the main article. That appears to be the case here. BTW, in case you were unaware, oaxaqueña/oaxaqueño is the demonym for the english word "Oaxacan". The only reason I bring this up is because sometimes locals will use it as a proper noun for certain things (mostly food stuffs), and it can get confusing (ie: referring to said object as the "Oaxaqueña Oaxaqueña")

Good job integrating them. I agree, one of the Spanish Wiki articles is more "formal" and more about the administrative functions. The other....well...sort of reminds me of a cross between a fan site and a tourist brochure. But what can I say...I've seen all sorts of unsourced, unreferenced, and even blatantly plagiarized "crap" survive deletion challenges on es.wiki, while important and properly sourced articles have been deleted because an Admin didn't like the material...I even got chewed out once for adding sources to an article.... By all means split it. Template:Huajuapan District, Oaxaca is much better. Doesn't need to be collapsed though. At the time of creation I was not aware that regions and districts existed. I have reverted your recent edits. You state on your talk that I 'removed material that had credible sources and added material without citing any sources.' All of the material that was placed was directly from the Ekal Vidyalaya website. All of the material that you have posted was in fact, non-credible, and quite controversial. While new to posting, I do believe that there is a webpage for topic controversies and I urge you to post there.

Second, you write 'The purpose of Wikipedia is to present a summary of what has been said about the subject by reliable independent sources, which may include conflicting views if the subject is controversial.' If there is in fact 'controversies,' again, add it to a separate controversies page or create a separate 'controversies' section. In such manner, you do not confuse controversy with first hand information. For example, you note an article that says that the Ekal Vidyalaya is run by another group. However, on DIRECT discussion with Ekal and overlooking the website, it does not state such. Rather, it states that it is an independent group. You are presenting third and fourth hand information about this group. Please do not slander a group without having first hand experience and, as you mentioned, credible sources. Please place a fair post DIRECT from a particular group onto the website.

This is a fundamental pillar of journalism.

For what it's worth, in the original text that I wrote, Alabama Baptist was redlinked, in no small part because I found that the other encyclopaedias gave it its own article, or at least a section in an article on Baptist newspapers in Alabama (as Cathcart does). Mmm Spanish and German wiki currently use the current infobox figures, We have 13 square kilometres deficit. if I was you, providing you have the reliable 2005 census data I'd change the infobox one to match the section and source it. AFD patrol takes one into some unexpected places at times. I've just been looking at Four boxes (AfD discussion). My research turned up the fact that we don't have Daniel Skinner, best known for being the recipient of manuscripts by John Milton and attempting then declining to publish them, but fairly well documented in his own right (with regard to the various academic and governmental disciplinary measures threatened against him during the course of his life, for starters). it's funny I just noticed the same thing as well. Well technically both are different, but I do not have any particular hangups on this, as long as articles get expanded. Oh boy, that sounds very complicated. I think rulers should be understood to be traditional rulers, whereas simple members such as princes etc. should be put under royalty. At least maybe a short explanation can be given in the category in order to avoid further confusion. But thank you for taking care of this area, it looks very interesting. Making your message indented one level more than the message is responding to makes the thread much easier to read. Possible DYKS

I've just glanced over the four articles you mentioned on my talk page, and they all look like good candidates to me. I think you're a bit close to the source material - most people don't know anywhere near as much about the topic, and the insight gained from articles like these is one of the reasons DYK is as popular as it is. I've put together some possible hooks, though they're by no means the only things that could used from the articles:

  • ...that a "temporary" regent of Nigeria's Idoani Confederacy ended up ruling the state for over 14 years, as the chiefs couldn't agree on the succession?
  • ...that from 1975, many festivals were cancelled throughout the Wukari Federation due to clashes over the passing of leadership from Kuteb and Hausa rulers to a more ethnically mixed council? (Hook could do with shortening, and would require the relevant information from Kuteb people to be copied over to Wukari Federation.)
  • ...that the Kebbi Emirate is one of the "seven bastard kingdoms", whose ruling lineage trace their roots back to a Hausa king's concubine?

If you'd rather I nominate them and deal with any problems that arise on the Suggestions page, just let me know. On another note, I think you handled the foofaraw over Four boxes of liberty really well. I've been mostly absent from Wikipedia for a week or two because of the new academic term and missed the action, but from the discussion it seems like a wasted opportunity for a solid article to make it into the section. Cincinnati riots

Well, the page says, to be precise "Red links should be avoided unless they are very likely to be developed into articles" (emphasis mine). Given you are (AFAICT) obviously intent on filling the missing articles, and that the page also states (yay for conflicting guidelines, uh?) "Unlinked text should be avoided.", I think having them linked is a lesser evil. I had never seen this in action, and to be honest I don't like it. There seems to be a developing anti-redlinks culture and it worries me... But here is not the place to talk about it ;) My point is, both are defensible, but if you insist on no redlinks, then IMO, it's better to leave the rest commented out entirely. I think the guidelines is intended for niche or borderline topics (as someone unfamiliar might consider your riots, for example). In the case of topics inherently notable (as national politicians are), I see it as a much better way to spur people to action, even if it should skew Special:WantedPages (which I suspect is the one primary reason for the guidelne). I think by "niche" here I mean topics that are outside the scope of the tighter "general" paper encyclopedias (as opposed to scoped ones on a specific topic or country, etc.). these articles are perfectly cromulent notable and appropriate for Wikipedia, but if it weren't for you, let's admit it, they might never get written. Does that make more sense? Trust me, it's not intended to be negative. Yeah the thing is though the amount of editors who are likely to "cleanup" a lower key reserve of Nigeria are extremely slim. how about, featured music by Béla Bartók? That's quite something for an Argentine film I think... I've made another relief map and it works! Try Template:Location map Nigeria relief. I think those maps look better in national park/mountain articles. The only problem is that the pin needs to be a little more prominent. If you need any maps of rivers of Nigeria or whatever let me know. What I found with Argentine films is that a lot of the directors were Italian immigrants and most of the actors of Spanish descent. If you look at most Argentinians they do indeed look like a mixture of Spanish and Italian.... unlike the Bolivians and Peruvians where more look Amerindian and Brazil where over half of them are of African origin or a mixture of Portuguese and black. An interesting new article Obalende Suya Express Restaurant -nice kebabs. Also see Kutkai, sneaky little gits haivng a refinery. Ha, well when I see new decent pages coming in on Burma it certainly attracts my attention whoever it is! Very impressive, its shocking how poorly developed our content is on Burmese topics. Burmese artists only had like one article a few days ago and I;m still starting articles on major professions from Burma which had zilch content whatsoever. It is surprising that the info on Burma in places can be OK, I think its British past helps as a lot more english sources are available then countries like Vietnam or Laos or something. Actually you remind me a lot of myself, not just in your interest in poorly covered countries in Asia and Africa but in your personality! De nada. If they are long deceased you can claim fair use on them as it is practically impossible to obtain a "free" image. Some of them might be public domain anyway, need to check to see what the Burma imagery license is. If its anything like India it might be pre 1947 for public domain not sure. If you want one or two images of paintings which I'll happily upload, in order to claim fair use you have to write a bit about them in the article I believe to silence the asscritics about "critical commentary"...♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:20, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

LOL though. I'm sure the granddaughters of some of these painters are going to sue wikipedia for use of a 200px image.. The thought of a poor Burmese person paying the legal fees to sue over copyright for dishonoring their family.... I actually think the families of these painters would be overjoyed that these painters are getting a mention in the world's bggest encyclopedia and would probably happily provide images.... However any stubs included in there like Bagyi Aung Soe, Win Pe Mint, U Maya Thaung etc need expanding or removing. Very important city of Latin America and an interesting one I find. That would be great. It seriously needs an injection of quality and sourcing and then condensing to give a balanced article. It needs a decent section on geography, adminsitration and economy and religion etc. I hate short paragraphs in articles and overly long ones. I like my articles to be as balanced as possible with plenty of sources and images. Luckily with Montevideo we have plenty of images!Not sure if you have any Spanish skills, did you use google translate on the Argentine film articles? Can I offer some advice for the Maritime history article? If it is about maritime history my observation is that 70% of the Early history is not relevant to it. If it was the History of Orissa and the sea it would be OK but I see an article with that and I expect to see the article almost entirely focused on naval history, battles at sea, boats, trade etc. Any thoughts? I've removed the part I didn't think belonged but if you think it really was essential feel free to revert me. Yeah, there was a movement to have the London bus routes deleted in about 2007 but they ended up being kept. Same with lists of pokemon and stuff we have on here which when you say "encyclopedia" you wonder how people could think them "encyclopedic". The strength of wikipedia not being paper is that we can cover a massive range of topics but that doesn't mean we can collect any old junk. Personally I would rather several more million articles like the sort we start and develop on tradiational encyclopedic subjects which is where wikipedia has its potential to cover them as never before. I agree, they should all have developed year lists. The problem is that the amount of people actually adding to them like the 1979 article is zilch. In my view it would be best to merge into decades like 1970s in jazz and then when somebody wants to add event details they can split into a seperate year lists.
