Extend PC time? --George Ho (talk) 08:21, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

@George Ho: Extended to 6 months, but frankly the poorly written, unsourced article just invites more poor edits. Out of curiosity, how do you manage to track all these pending expiry dates?—Bagumba (talk) 16:59, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

Brandon Knight (basketball)

Hey. Can either Brandon Knight (basketball) be semi-protected or this IP be blocked? The same obnoxious edits have been revert multiple times, and not just be me. DaHuzyBru (talk) 18:27, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

I left a note on their talk page that stuff needs to be verifiable. Hopefully a block won't be needed, but let me know if otherwise.—Bagumba (talk) 23:11, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
The IP was at it again with the same edit again [1] – surely a block now. Also, Giannis Antetokounmpo has been vandalised a lot lately. DaHuzyBru (talk) 05:33, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
Sigh. Blocked, and Greek Freak protected.—Bagumba (talk) 06:46, 16 April 2015 (UTC)

Jarell Eddie

Hey. Can you please back me up on Jarell Eddie? I've reverted this user multiple times and tried to explain that the Atlanta Hawks should not be in his infobox because he did play for them during his short stint. I tried to explain this point and ended up just getting reverted with no explanation, and right now if I revert again, it would be plain edit warring. You and I both know of this deal with teams in infoboxes. I tried to explain it to him in the summary section and on the user talk page. Would you be able to revert the edit and explain it as well to back me up? Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 05:46, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

I see you left a message on their talk page which went ignore. I left the editor a warning on edit warring. There's no deadline, and it's not completely incorrect; it'll get resolved in time. I'd rather not add to the reverts. Ask them to respond again, or post at WT:NBA. Maybe find the old discussion and give it to them as reference. Honestly, I can sorta see how a new user might immediately get why the team should not be there. I can help out if warring persists, or try WP:AN3 if I'm slow in responding.—Bagumba (talk) 06:24, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
I'd just like someone to back me up so the user knows it's not just my personal vendetta. I linked this old discussion on the user's talk page and yeah, no response. It's frustrating as that final revert came with no further explanation – which really pisses me off. I've explained the situation to the user very clearly – that last revert shows ignorance and stubbornness. DaHuzyBru (talk) 06:49, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
If you didn't want to bring in others (which I would still recommend), one other suggestion would be to ask them to discuss again. If they don't, what you could do is remove in a few days, link their talk page section in the edit summary, and say you assume WP:SILENCE is consensus. They've already been warned of EW, so they really shouldn't continue reverting without consequences. Good luck.—Bagumba (talk) 06:59, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, cheers! I have confided in Rikster to see if he is willing to help me out, but if not, I'll go through your listed process. Hopefully, like most drive through new users, they will "die off" and this won't be an issue. Always appreciate your cunning advice! :) DaHuzyBru (talk) 07:07, 18 April 2015 (UTC)
Well, we could always use more editors—productive ones that is—so showing them that discussion actually works can be beneficial in the long run (even if a bit time consuming in the short term). Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 07:14, 18 April 2015 (UTC)

Hello Bagumba,

Do you know why I can't edit? Everytime I edit something, it doens't show up for some reason.

Thank you, UVABallers — Preceding unsigned comment added by UVABallers (talkcontribs) 02:13, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

@UVABallers: You were able to edit this page at least. Which article are you having a problem with?—Bagumba (talk) 02:34, 23 April 2015 (UTC)

Wkoppel again?

Looks familiar. Account created March 29, about a week after you last blocked an IP. Larry Bird 'In popular culture' entry

I see that the reference I entered yesterday to the Larry Bird article was rejected. This is the first time I've ever attempted to enter anything on Wikipedia, so I'm a little unclear on the process. Is there a way I can appeal the rejection, or attempt to gain support from other users? If so, how do I go about this?

My thinking was that I wasn't just trying to add to a 'trivia list': Larry Bird's identity was used as a symbol of a racial divide in an artistically important film. Certainly, this is more significant than the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' reference that is already included in the 'In popular culture' section.

Thanks for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sjscott77 (talkcontribs) 14:40, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for discussion this. Wikipedia operates on consensus; see Wikipedia:Consensus for more details. Unfortunately, the "In popular culture" section in that article is currently of pretty low quality; however, I don't believe that warrants adding other trivial material. See Wikipedia:"In popular culture" content for more information. I would agree that the article can be improved by discussing Bird's impact as a white player; however, I disagree that a trivial list of appearances is the way to accomplish that. Reliable sources that discuss this impact should be used, not original research on cultural references that are listed to imply this impact. I'd encourage you to gain support at Talk:Larry Bird if you believe it belongs in the article. Cheers—Bagumba (talk) 18:40, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Larry Bird 'In popular culture' entry

Bagumba,

Thanks for your help so far. I have to admit, I'm still a bit confused as to how to go about gaining consensus to have an entry added to an article. If you could walk me through this a bit, I'm glad to try it.

Interestingly, this discussion brings up a larger point about Larry Bird and race. There is no mention of the controversy that erupted based on comments by Dennis Rodman and Isiah Thomas that if Bird were black he would be just another good guy(http://www.nytimes.com/1987/06/05/sports/thomas-explains-comments-on-bird.html), although a reference to the incident does show up on Isiah Thomas's Wikipedia article under 'Controversy: Michael Jordan rivalry (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isiah_Thomas).

Do you have any idea why this has been omitted from the Larry Bird article?

Again, many thanks for your help!

Sjscott77 (talk) 20:23, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

@Sjscott77: If you have specific questions from reading Wikipedia:Consensus, that would be a good starting point. In general regarding Bird or other articles, there is no deadline. A lot of times, editors just have not gotten to it. You can also check Talk:Larry Bird to see if there were any past relevant discussions.—Bagumba (talk) 20:31, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Question for you

Hey Bagumba, I have a question for you. Could you either protect the Louisiana–Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns page or do something about the users? There is currently an edit war between an I.P. and an editor. A user (Pncomeaux) who I believe has a COI with the university per this statement, wants to change the content to Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and there have been discussions about this in the past and have decided not to change the name. (You can see the talk page for that!) There is also another account named Piclanco, which could be either the IP or Pncomeaux, who has reverted the IP edits. I don't want to claim its them and I'm not going to open a case, but I have my suspicions. I did tell Pncomeaux to post it on the talk page and he has, which other users have yet to respond (and I'm still debating on what my decision is). Anything you can do would be great!

Also, did you ever hear back from UCLA? I know you went ahead and changed it and said they hadn't contacted you back, but I was just curious if you ever had after that edit. Corky | Chat? 22:39, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

@Corkythehornetfan:I warned the new user about edit warring. You can let me know or go to WP:AN3 if it persists. Semi-protection might have been an option if it was just new/unregisterd users; full protection might be needed if this persists (WP:RPP can help there too). Finally, WP:SPI would be the venue if WP:SOCKing was suspected.—Bagumba (talk) 23:27, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
Never heard back from UCLA. Could try sports info dept, but I haven't (and probably won't). As it is, people seem to be changing colors left and right on other schools with no sourcing. Maybe they pass the general eyeball test so it's not that big of a deal (???)—Bagumba (talk) 23:27, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! Like I said, I have my suspicions but I'm not going to take it to the SPI. Thanks for the information, though! I do have a feeling it is going to persist, so most likely I will request page protection and will report them to for edit warring. Thanks for the help!
As for the UCLA thing, I'm with you and don't think it's that big of a deal, either, just thought I'd ask! I also figured that most likely they wouldn't respond! Corky | Chat? 23:37, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

WikiProject Basketball discussion (Standard statistics format) input

Hello, sorry to bother you but I would appreciate your opinion (whichever it is, even if it's contrary to mine) on the topic Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Basketball#Standard format for Euroleague and domestic league statistics. If you have none on a discussion that's central to European basketball only I would perfectly understand, it would be useful to note the fact. By polling the most active members of the WikiProject Basketball it would at least make everybody's opinion (or lack of) on the issue clear and a discussion that has largely been between me and AirWolf (talk) could be closed (ideally in a consensus) for the foreseeable future. Again sorry for blemishing your talk page. --ArmstrongJulian (talk) 10:53, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

@ArmstrongJulian: I see there that are three participants already in that discussion. You might try to organically reach a consensus among the three of you. If you weren't already familiar with it, you might find Wikipedia:Dispute resolution helpful. I don't normally edit European basketball articles, aside from NBA players who might have played in Europe, or the occasional college basketball player of interest that plays there. I may choose to offer an opinion if the discussion is still at an impasse, but my preference would be for more involved (and perhaps more informed?) parties to reach an understanding on their own on this matter. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 16:23, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Seth Curry

Just on your recent edit to Seth Curry, the reason there was only one listing of Erie is because he was only with the Suns for 10-days and there really doesn't need to be a double listing IMO. Myself and User:Intruder007 (we were the main d-league editors this season) kind of came to a mutual agreement on that sort of thing. Also, if that is to stand, another Santa Cruz Warriors listing needs to be made under Cleveland Cavaliers as he returned to SC straight after his stint with the Cavs. DaHuzyBru (talk) 03:39, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Perhaps it makes sense. I was just following general convention outlined in docs at Template:Infobox basketball biography. Can you writeup your current practice at WT:NBA and see what others think?—Bagumba (talk) 03:47, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Eh, I usually don't bother myself with that page, too much other stuff going on. Also, it's difficult to put into words. It is sort of just common sense. If a d-league player is called up multiple times by one team or multiple teams, we don't need to keep doing (for example) Santa Cruz, NBA team, Santa Cruz, NBA team, Santa Cruz etc if they keep going back to their original d-league team. I think just to be consistent with Curry, you or I should add SC again after Cavs or remove the second Erie. I can't be bothered formally introducing it – I've done it this way for a while now. DaHuzyBru (talk) 05:19, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Seems fuzzy then why the Santa Cruz stint after Memphis had a separate entry. I can see some extreme cases why we wouldn't want to list each stint separately. Not sure if this is one of them. I added the other one for "consistency", but not going to sweat it if you or someone else remove these. Still, kinda hard for me to agree it's "common sense" if it's not simple enough to put into words. At any rate, a footnote or hidden comment might help in the future. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 05:46, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Well I think an experienced editor like yourself can understand what I'm trying to say, but yes, perhaps it would be difficult for others to understand the concept since it's hard to formally describe it. Overall, no big deal – both ways suit me tbh. Just thought I'd bring it up with you. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 06:59, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Could you please undelete (or at least unprotect) Dairese Gary. He is a notable basketball player who has played professionally in the U.S. and Egypt. A G4 does not apply because the article is not the same as the deleted version since I added some sources and content. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 22:32, 12 June 2015 (UTC)

@Editorofthewiki: It seems you have Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2015_June_7 pending. Am I missing something?—Bagumba (talk) 22:43, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
Yes. I'm not entirely familiar with the proceedings at DRV. In fact, I probably shouldn't have even went there, since User:Joe Decker made the correct decision to delete based on the votes at the AfD. It would have saved a lot of Drama. However, I feel that User:Spartaz made a bad decision to just delete and protect, and compounded the issue by comparing me to a 10 year old. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 16:52, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Michael Sam

Hi! I noticed that you placed semi-protection on Michael Sam eight months ago. As he is no longer in the NFL and hasn't been for quite some time, the article is significantly less likely to be the subject of vandalism and BLP violations. In keeping with Wikipedia's general philosophy that anyone should be able to edit and protection should be used sparingly, I'd appreciate it if you'd consider removing the protection or reducing it to pending changes. ~ RobTalk 08:21, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

@BU Rob13: He is still occasionally in the news, e.g. his current stint playing in Canada. Based on past history of the article, unconfirmed editors have not been kind when the topics of football and gays intersect. I'm comfortable having the remaining four months of semi-protection run its course. If you still disagree, feel free to get other opinion(s) at WP:RFRPL. NBA Summer League Rosters

Hello,

Is it possible to add summer league rosters to the team's season 2015 - 2016 for summer league?

UVABallers (talk) 00:27, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

@UVABallers: Personally, I think summer league teams have very little relation to the actual NBA season. I don't think they are generally included, but you can start a discussion at WT:NBA if you think it should be added.—Bagumba (talk) 01:47, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

I was away on vacation, but the DYK has since been promoted.—Bagumba (talk) 01:50, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

I know you are on vacation, but if you get a moment could you close this AfD discussion? There was no dispute that he met GNG and now he meets NBASKETBALL too. Thanks Rikster2 (talk) 11:46, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

Appears to be resolved now.—Bagumba (talk) 01:50, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Not sure what you are implying. Feel free to address the specific issues at Talk:Michael Roll (basketball).—Bagumba (talk) 21:04, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

User:Mwrcwms has repeatedly taken down the image at Kennedy Meeks. Recently he claims that Meeks himself wants the image taken down. Is this okay? If the subject of an article requests that we take an image down, do we have to comply? Of course, this is assuming Mwrcwms actually contacted Meeks. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 14:08, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) @Editorofthewiki: WP:NOTCENSORED applies. ~ RobTalk 14:32, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
@Editorofthewiki: It's unclear if the editor has a conflict of interest, which might affect their judgement. Per WP:AUTOPROB, Wikipedia is receptive to users correcting errors about themselves, but it's unclear how this picture should be handled in that respect. At the very least, edit warring is never appropriate, and dispute resolution seems applicable.—Bagumba (talk) 16:11, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
@Editorofthewiki: Likely a dead issue as users have been blocked per Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/PWfellow.—Bagumba (talk) 21:06, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Cleveland Cavaliers

Are you an administrator? If so, then I think I need to get a consensus of the administrators on protecting this page, because I just had to revert blatant vandalism.

Hardcoreromancatholic (talk) 21:56, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Never mind!!!! I see that the page has already been semiprotected due to vandalism.

Hello, I tried to expand the article by adding to his article : Hachim has been eligible to play for both Italy national team and Morocco national team , On 19 May 2015. he announced representing Morocco national team because he felt Morocco is his country[1] Italian paper La Gazzetta dello Sport said Italy national team lost a talented player with his decision.[2]

Tad asked me to look for few more points I will try hopefully to cover during the weekend :) thank you for helping with this :) Adnan (talk) 22:50, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

Tyrone Garland DYK

Hello. Could you please review my DYK nomination of Tyrone Garland? It was nominated on June 22, but has not even been touched yet. TempleM (talk) 14:37, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

@TempleM: I cannot commit at this time. In my experience, a particular nomination sometimes take longer than others to receive attention, but they do get reviewed in due time. As long as you nominated it in time, the request will not "expire". Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 16:39, 11 July 2015 (UTC)

Semi

Semi for Marcus Thornton (basketball, born 1987) please. Cheers. DaHuzyBru (talk) 17:16, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Done, since it's mostly unsourced edits, but it's also one of those gray areas since the agent announced it.[3].—Bagumba (talk) 17:20, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Hm true. It's a relatively notable signing though, the Rockets will no doubt announce it in time. DaHuzyBru (talk) 17:28, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Probably trying to hold on to cap space as long as possible. I forgot how Chris Bosh was finally listed last year when it took a month to officially announce his signing. Anyhow ...—Bagumba (talk) 17:33, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, it well in fact might be like Bosh's situation this year. After July 9, there have not been many official signings i.e. the Kings and Nuggets have lots pending. But yeah, all good :) DaHuzyBru (talk) 18:02, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Response to your revert

Bagumba, looks like Dat money$ responded to your revert at Chris Andersen, but it was misplaced. I've moved it over to Talk:Chris Andersen#Moved here from Template talk:Talkback so you can respond. Also, it's best to avoid linking to the {{talkback}} template when working with new editors, since they often mistakenly click the wrong link and respond at Template talk:Talkback. Thanks, Oiyarbepsy (talk) 03:32, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

  • BTW, if you respond, you might want to post at the user's talk page pointing them there. They seem to be struggling with talk pages. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 03:34, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

Michael Jordan

Yes I looked back on what I removed and I must have been thinking about something else because I thought I was removing the number 9 being listed in Jordan's "career numbers" spot of his infobox. Correct me if I'm wrong but I guess I removed that he wore number 12. What I was thinking was that someone included that he wore number 9 for Team USA which we do not include in that spot of the infobox. Including number 12 was correct and it was my bad for removing it. Thank you. --RichieConant (talk) 17:00, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

@RichieConant: You can always go into a page's history to find any specific change made by an editor to any article. In this case, your removal of No. 9 was ultimately correct, but the footnote for No. 12 should have remained. No problem, we all make mistakes unintentionally every now and then. However, using edit summaries does make it easier for others to understand an editor's original intent. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 17:09, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
@Bagumba: Ok thank you very much. So when I make a addition/subtraction to a page I should provide a description of why I did this. Where would I provide that description? --RichieConant (talk) 17:15, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
@RichieConant: Have you looked at Help:Edit summary? Also, Wikipedia:Help desk may be of assistance if you are still stuck. Good luck!—Bagumba (talk) 17:29, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
@Bagumba: Great! Thanks for your help. As you can see I am kind of new to this but would like to be able to help. --RichieConant (talk) 17:31, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Seth Curry Controversy

Good day sir or madam, I see you have an issue with my edits on the page of Seth Curry. If it is of any help, adding that he was automatically entered into the NBA draft as a graduating senior does hold significance. There should ALWAYS be a large amount of information in an article and what happened to a player directly following there college career is very important. As for me not adding an edit summary, i apologize it completely slipped my mind. Thank you and have a blessed day. --Mathgenious989 (talk) 19:50, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

@Mathgenious989: Feel free to comment at the general discussion at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Basketball_Association#Senior_automatically_in_NBA_draft. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 19:53, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Baron Davis in Joe Dirt 2

I placed an edit to the Baron Davis page stating that he appeared in the film Joe Dirt 2. However, you removed it. My source is the movie that I watched, in which he appeared in, and was later confirmed in the credits of the film. Just because it is not on IMDB or no the internet, does not make it untrue. Here are a few links that will back up my edit

Wkoppel re-redux

Special:Contributions/68.66.31.117. I know it's hard - and probably futile - to stay caught up with his IP hopping but this seems to be one of his main ones, indeed the one he used for a long while before creating his now-indeffed Wkoppel account. NBA Team Offseason Transitions

Hello, Is it really necessary for the 2015–16 Cleveland Cavaliers season Offseason Transition, for subtraction to put trades in? And for additions, is it necessary to have players resign in additions? Just wondering.

UVABallers (talk) 05:46, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

@UVABallers: Can't say I've paid much attention to them. I think it's a recent addition is the last season or two. Perhaps you can investigate if there's a few primary editors that maintain them and discuss with them. Otherwise, start a general discussion at WT:NBA. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 18:04, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Barnstars

Just wondering, have you added those barnstars to your page or do other members add those for you to show recognition of your good work? --RichieConant34 (talk) 16:45, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

@RichieConant: I had copied ones placed on my talk page by others over to my user page.—Bagumba (talk) 18:00, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Ok gothca. Then I'm assuming you just delete them from your talk page after you copy them over to your user page. --RichieConant34 (talk) 21:07, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Don't remember, I might have just left them to be archived.—Bagumba (talk) 21:11, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Protect from IP

Hey can you protect Jasmin Repeša from anonymous users. Guy is deleting valid sources, and calling me idiot on talk page. Thank you very much--Bozalegenda (talk) 00:47, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

There's been a long history of edit warring there among many users for months (years?). I have no background on the subject, so I think full protection is the best solution to force editors to discuss and gain consensus. Thanks for the notice.—Bagumba (talk) 04:55, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

Happy to do the DYK, if you don't think my edits/position represent a conflict of interest. Dan arndt (talk) 10:05, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

@Dan arndt: Your contributions were as a copy editor, and came after the nomination, so I think you are fine as outlined at Template_talk:Did_you_know#How_to_review_a_nomination. I have no issue if you are OK. Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 17:13, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for your help!

Just a quick note to say thank you for adding the Tony Gwynn info to Alan Wiggins. I meant to add something similar at some point, but somehow I missed it. I think it's really interesting when we can show that a player with a relatively short career had some impact beyond his own statistics. Thanks again! EricEnfermero (Talk) 14:39, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

@EricEnfermero: Thanks. Saw that you had it up for GAN. Wasn't sure if I wanted to work on improving it, or volunteer as a reviewer. Will see when I get some free time. If you get to if first, the article could use an image, and WP:NFCI #10 allows for pictures of deceased persons. Cheers.—Bagumba (talk) 04:45, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
