Concerns[edit]

I appreciate your concerns and your honesty. However, I have responded to some of the comments that were listed above in opposition 1. Thank you, a.n.o.n.y.m t 11:22, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Also I would like to just point out that two of the editors who voted against me are biased against all Muslim editors, I am sorry to say. The other person who voted against me had perfectly valid reasons about a 3rr in my first week of wikipedia. As for the one who wrote a large paragraph on me, I don't know them and why they voted against me, since they only have been here 2 weeks (and a month after my disputes with two editors on "India-related" articles were settled). I can only assume that they might be a sockpuppet, but I am not going to speculate. I still like to thank you replying to my message. I expect a lot of oppose votes in the future, though, because the first oppose voter posted material on a wikiproject trying to rally support against me, which seems unfair. However, I will let wikipedians decide. :) Thank you, a.n.o.n.y.m t 11:33, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I fully understand your position Banes. It can get violent and stressing on these voting pages. See you around the wikipedia and take all the time you need to think this over. Thanks :) --a.n.o.n.y.m t 05:11, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for supporting me. :) I wish you all the best. --a.n.o.n.y.m t 19:14, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Stressed out?[edit]

Hi Banes. Thanks for your note! Yes, I am quite stressed, but it is due to volume of real-life work rather than any Wikipedia issue. I am looking forward to my stress going down, but it may only happen at the end of term. :-) The months I spent in South Africa were back when I was a student -- I was mostly in Cape Town and Stellenbosch, but I did also get the chance to spend some time in and around Kruger National Park and in Swaziland. I had a fantastic time in the months I spent there and plan to go back as soon as possible (only issues of cash flow keep me away!). --Ngb ?!? 21:20, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Banter[edit]

Actually, Impi was regalling us with tales of his incredible sexual prowess.

Why would he do such a thing? Hey, you need to relax, get off here and go and play Rome!

Heh, people would pay to be told of my exploits, why would I give it away for free? :P Impi 16:34, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That depends entirely on what you want to do. Have you got a hotmail account or are you sticking with yahoo? JUt cast around, somehwhere on there you can download windows messenger.

Rollback[edit]

Hi Banes, When I view the diff between two edits, there is a rollback link which when clicked will revert to the previous edit not authored by the last editor and puts in the summuary for example "Reverted edits by 202.156.6.59 to last version by Srini81". What does help which you can also use is CryptoDerk's Vandal Fighter . It gives me an unfair advantage over vandels--Jcw69 06:35, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Titoxd's RfA[edit]

Thank you!

Thank you for supporting me in my RfA. I never thought I would get so much support! Thanks to your help, my nomination was the 10th most supported RfA in Wikipedia history. Now, please keep an eye out on me while I learn the new tools, ok? Thanks again! Titoxd(?!?) 17:33, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Tomf688's RfA[edit]

Well, it seems I'm now an administrator. I wanted to thank you for your vote of confidence, and, as always, feel free to drop me a line at any time. --tomf688{talk} 01:05, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More on the code[edit]

The lucky bastard bit was a reference to Xiphon's somewhat fortunate view at the time. I've written a bit on how I solved it at his talk page, and as you can see it wasn't actually that hard. I mean, I'm crap at maths, so most cryptoanalysis is beyond my comprehension, let alone my ability. No problem with the tips, I'll send them over as soon as I've got a bit of free time. On another note, I think you and Xiphon are the first guys to have communicated in code ok Wikipedia's talk pages, that deserves some credit. — Impi 17:48, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RFA for Johntex[edit]

Thanks for trying to help but I guess this is the only way I can deal with it. — Moe ε 21:19, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I dont think I will be returning. — Moe ε 21:25, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again Banes, I thought about what you, LV, and Celestianpower said and your right. I was just mad. I decided not to leave. I just needed some time away. How two days of no stress make a differance. I came back because of my 4 day absense on one page I edit regulary, there has been much vandalism. I read your last comment on the Esperanza talk page too. It is depressing seeing those people listed, even myself, knowing they quit. If anyone noticed my last edit before this I stated in the edit summury the quote: "Etú Brutè, then fall Caesar", which in Latin means something like "You too Brutus", which are the last words uttered by Julius Caesar when he was stabbed in the back. I felt like I was stabbed in the back by Wikipedia. But now Im over that. Thank you. — Moe ε 16:42, 5 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Banes/Archive 4

Thanks for your support on my request for adminship.

The final outcome was (96/2/0), so I am now an administrator. If you ever have any queries about my actions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Again, thanks!

Wikibreak[edit]

Wikibreaks are good, and sometimes needed, just don't leave... I've enjoyed talking to you. :) Redwolf24 (talk) 02:39, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Take care, Banes. I know we haven't really talked at all, but I do hope you come back soon. Robert T | @ | C 02:46, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to see you go[edit]

I was considering nominating you for admin soon too...perhaps reconsider after you take some time off from here.--MONGO 02:48, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the exact same thing. When you come back, I'd love for you to drop me a line and let me conom you. :) --Celestianpower háblame 16:05, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

From a Fellow Editor[edit]

Ah, I know how conflict and stress come and go. Don't let it get you down: there are always going to be people against you in life. The real test is how you respond. So rise to the occasion, take a break, and come back ready to tackly the great beast that is Wikipedia. I hope to see you soon. Cheers, Bratschetalk | Esperanza 03:18, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

THANK YOU![edit]

Thank you so much for voting in my RfA, and especially thank you for supporting me. I really appreciate it, and will wield the mop and bucket the best way I know how. I, like RoboCop, promise four things:

 1. Serve the public trust
 2. Protect the innocent
 3. Uphold the law
 4. Classified

I hope to do all those things and, even if I can't keep my fourth classified, will do all I can to be a great admin. Stop by my talk page, or on article pages; I look forward to working with you. A belated thanks again, Mysekurity e-mail 04:46, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Shauri[edit]

Dear Banes. I saw your message on Shauri's talkpage. Wikibreaks do indeed work wonders and I am sure that you will be seeing her positive influence on Wikipedia one day soon :).--Wiglaf 08:01, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your Departure[edit]

Ahh.. the first line of the play Twelfth Night, huh. Another great quote by Mr. William Shakespeare. Well, I hope you come back from your Wikibreak soon. Cheers! — Moe ε 21:03, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipediology[edit]

I'd like to ask those fellows who have not indicated whether or not they grant permission for a wikibio on them to please do so soon. I'd also appreciate it everyone could expand or create the wikibios for which permission has been granted. The wikibio project simply won't be useful unless fellows actively participate; so I'd like to issue a challenge that each fellow contribute at least one sentence to two wikibios. I'll be on wikibreak for the next week and when I get back there will be prizes in store for the fellows who have the three highest edit counts on wikibios. Thanks. -JCarriker 22:35, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back[edit]

Glad to see you're back, hope all's well. Alf melmac 10:22, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back, fellow Esperanzian! I hope your break went well. :) Titoxd(?!?) 17:24, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you![edit]

Well, I was going to pull my Rfa, but a few supportors encouraged me to not do so. As it stands now, I may squeak by but I don't like having less than a 90% approval rate. It's like a dark cloud hanging over me and really takes away from my respectibility. No doubt some of my edits have been questionable. You and others that know me as a bit of a jokester understand that I can come across as rather blunt and even hostile at times, but there is never any malice behind it. As far as a future adminship for you, I think you'll absolutely suceed. You are one of the kindest contributors here and have been involved in a wide range of things and have a lot of experience from it. January is not far off and I'll be glad to nominate or at least offer my strong support as you please. Thanks again.--MONGO 10:40, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there certainly are worse articles that stand than one listing the names of the 9/11 victims. Can you link me to it?--MONGO 10:56, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I would ask Tony Sidaway the same questions and if you don't know who he is, tell him I sent you to him and he also has email if you prefer that. He may have a better answer than I do. What were your motivations for such a huge task such as that. I mean, I can only imagine how stressful that must be.

Well, kudos to you man! The one emotion that detail would fill me with is anger...I think of those people that were still stuck in the towers, dealing with three options: smoke, fire or jumping a thousand feet to their deaths. I oftimes wonder, without trying to disturb your emotions, how many were still alive when the towers collapsed. What a crummy way to go, and for what? Were the "crimes" of the U.S. so egregious to deserve 9/11?...I should remind myself of the non U.S. citizens that also died in the towers as well. See what Tony has to say and I'll see if I can dig up the answer in the meantime.--MONGO 11:24, 18 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

GraemeL's RFA[edit]

Hi Banes,

I am now an administrator (with rollback even faster than before) and would like to thank you for your support on my RfA. I was very surprised at the number of votes and amount of and kind comments that I gathered. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I mess up in the use of my new powers. --GraemeL (talk) 15:30, 21 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Votes[edit]

I don't think the last three support votes or the last oppose vote count since the nomination period has expired. I really appreciate you looking out for me. How's the memorial going?--MONGO 10:15, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree...I think that the encyclopedic merit thing just brought out a lot of folks that wanted to grind an axe...not that they didn't have valid points and I still shouldn't have been taking names off the list anyway. BTW, the gentleman that I was teasing about being a "foreigner" voted to support my nomination but I think his may not count since it came in late. Obviously if he wasn't offended in any real way I hope everyone else understands conclusively that I really was just joking! Mr Tibbs even asked him on his user talk and then he voted support...it's nice when people can see the better side of others and not take it out of context to push an agenda.--MONGO 10:33, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Admin[edit]

Wow, I would be honored to be nominated an Admin! Thank you. Maybe December would be a good time to nominate me. I preview A LOT now. Guess I find many mistakes when I edit, lol. I try to add edit summaries whenever I can. I have been leaving a lot of summaries lately. I still can't believe someone wants to nominate me for Admin. If I get nominated, and pass, adminship I will have to pay you back somehow. Thanks again! — Moe ε 19:53, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect date. I'll be working hard over the next few days on quite a few articles. I'll add edit summaries like crazy for the next few days! 22 days isn't that long, I can wait. Wait a second, thats how I'm going to pay you back! It's your Birthday that day. You should see what I'm going to have in store for you! Thanks again! — Moe ε 20:12, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Signature[edit]

Do you think you could change the "s" in your signature to a link to your talkpage? I clicked it and was surpirised to find that it didn't lead straight here. Thanks! --Celestianpower hablamé 20:34, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

MONGO RfA[edit]

Happy Thanksgiving![edit]

Happy Thanksgiving Banes!

Many thanks for your support[edit]

Hi, Banes. I just want to thank you very much for supporting my RfA, and to say also that I hope I'll make a good job of it. I'm supposed to be working on an assignment at the moment, and had delayed thanking people, but I'm finding the new rollback button so easy to use that I'm just keeping Wikipedia open on my browser while working on other things, and I thought I'd like to thank at least a few of my supporters while I'm here. Cheers. AnnH (talk) 19:43, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Did you see this?[edit]

Maybe you can add to it if you wish...[10]--MONGO 00:48, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Good..I didn't want your effort to have been in vain. Hey, ever think about joining WikiProject protected areas and working on South African locations? Just a thought and I is probably not well documented...if you are interested, I can show you how. Even stubs with the infobox template and a small bit of info would be helpful...here is about all the info you need to do the infobox template for Kruger National Park found here after a search query here shows there are over 2 hundred protected areas in South Africa alone....in the case of Kruger, the article already exists, but it hasn't been tied into the protected areas project and doesn't have the infobox template as discussed here. Well, maybe it doesn't interest you, but thought I might mention it anyway.--MONGO 18:38, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I'll go and contact the user that developed the maps used in the template so that he can maybe make one for South Africa...anyway, I am a big fan of land management stuff and it is where I go when all ealse seems to fail...few people end up arguing with you and there is little or no vandalism to deal with...it gives me peace and I end up doing something productive...I'll get back to you.

Sean Black RfA[edit]

Thank you very much for your support of my RfA. Thanks, in part, to you, I am now an Administrator, and I pledge to use my newfound powers for good rather than evil. Thanks again!--Sean|Black 07:17, 26 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re: this, I guess so. I'd be honored. :-) TomerTALK 22:02, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to get things sorted out with Halibutt first, so maybe friday or sunday. TomerTALK 23:14, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Uf. And I still haven't sorted things out with Halibutt. Thanks tho. Tomertalk 15:41, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Nah. Hopefully it won't become an issue. If the nom fails, so be it. I think most of our trouble is a result of neither of us understanding exactly what the "problem" is that the other has... I have complete confidence that it'll sort itself out, hopefully sooner rather than later, esp. since I have developed quite a bit of respect for him in the past few months. Tomertalk 16:04, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

After accepting your nomination, I added here. Hope you don't feel like I was out of line in doing so... If you look at the history, you can see I did it a bit klutzily... Fortunately for WP, such things are easily corrected. :-) Tomertalk 18:29, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
