Additional tips[edit]
Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the articles for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you believe something you added or created has been unfairly treated, talk to the user or follow the steps in resolving disputes
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
- If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Nancy-Université.gif[edit]
Thank you for uploading Image:Nancy-Université.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. This is going too far[edit]
I don't like this bot, BetacommandBot, which threatened to delete Image:Nancy-Université.gif (the concern has been addressed, by the way). Deleters are already zealous ; if they are seconded by bots nowadays, Wikipedia will become hell. Being threatened of deletion by bots is frightening ! Deletion should only be able to be suggested by human beings, in my opinion. And not without any prior discussion on the discussion page :-o ! Speedy deletion is shocking when the image has been sitting there for almost 2 years. Without permanent watch from the uploader, a useful pic will be speedily deleted, which is a nuisance ; prior discussion would let someone else fill in the missing rationale. All the complaints about this bot are the sign that something is wrong ! Baronnet (talk) 23:14, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
GeneWeb[edit]
Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article GeneWeb, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. A proposed deletion template has been added to the article David Kuijers, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
