Thanks for uploading Image:Achoo.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. Yao's Principle

[edit]

Thanks for adding an article on Yao's principle. I'm just curious about the proper capitalization for the thing, since a lot of references have a lowercase 'p' and Wikipedia is case sensitive. Also, is this the same as Yao's lemma? If so, it might be useful to create a redirect there too. Anyhow, happy editing! --Alan Au 05:18, 21 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inverse eigenvalues theorem

[edit]

Hello, and also a warm welcome from me. I saw you created an article on inverse eigenvalues theorem. This is certainly an important result and deserves to be mentioned. However, I'm a bit worried about the prospects of the article. I don't really see it grow beyond a few sentences. Therefore, I'd like to propose to merge this page with the main page on eigenvalues (which is at Eigenvalue, eigenvector and eigenspace) and mention the result there. What do you think about that?

By the way, as you seem to be into maths, perhaps you are interested in Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics. The talk page is read by many mathematicians, so it's a good place if you want to ask questions about Wikipedia and mathematics. You can also ask me questions on my talk page at User talk:Jitse Niesen.

Best wishes,

Date/year linking

[edit]

Cease making edits like this. I hate it when dates are linked just as much as you, but delinking them stops date preferences formatting from working, which is even worse. --Cyde↔Weys 13:46, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I support your attempts to reduce overlinking of dates. Please feel free to use my monobook tool. It will ignore 'preference dates' mentioned by Cyde and only delink 'non-preference dates' in just two clicks per article.
It identifies all non-preference dates in just one click on a 'dates' tab in edit mode. You can then 'Save' or 'Cancel' the edit in a second click. Simply copy the entire contents of User:Bobblewik/monobook.js to User:Beefyt/monobook.js. Follow the instructions in your monobook to clear the cache (i.e. press Ctrl-Shift-R in Firefox, or Ctrl-F5 in IE) before it will work. If you get stuck, let me know. Keep up the good work. bobblewik 17:30, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What is a monobook? --Beefyt 19:50, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know *what* it is. But lots of editors use it. Try it. bobblewik 13:59, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Cream of mushroom soup

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Cream of mushroom soup requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit]

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:109561518_8b5b8e4684_o.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Nilfanion (talk) 11:35, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reconsidering WTFPL 2nd AfD

[edit]

Would you please reconsider the 2nd AfD nomination of WTFPL? I have been discussing this article with its editors, and I believe they have not satisfactorily met the notability criteria. In fact, they believe the nobility criteria does not apply in this case, because "common sense" suggests the article is notable. I would like to nominate the article for deletion again because I believe the most recent AfD discussion was not conducted in good faith: the keep arguments relied primarily on WP:GOOGLEHITS, WP:PERNOM, and WP:VAGUEWAVE. Most importantly, the editors have failed to produce a single reliable secondary source to establish notability since the first time this article was nominated for deletion over 20 months ago. Thank you. --Beefyt (talk) 18:21, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While I'm happy to answer questions, it looks like your question could have been answered and resolved more quickly if you had used my message wizard. It's linked as "Talk" after my name and at the top of my talk page. Why not try it next time?
No matter how I read the debate there's no way I can justify a deletion closure for this one. There's no consensus to delete. You're welcome to DRV it ot renominate. Stifle (talk) 18:26, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of "James Jarrett"

[edit]

A page you created, James Jarrett, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it redirects from an implausible misspelling.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Ray at Night

[edit]

Why do we have a redirect for Ray at Night? The mention in the article isn't even sourced. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 20:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's a good point. I figured, if its mentioned in the article, then it deserves a redirect. I didn't stop to question the validity of the mention in the first place because I've been to the thing; I know its real. I can try to find a reference, but for now I will place an {{refimprovesect}} on the section. The redirect definitely should be kept unless the section is removed. Let's take this to Talk:North Park, San Diego, California if it needs further discussion.--Beefyt (talk) 23:57, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Warhol cream-of-mushroom-soup.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Nova Spivack

[edit]

I would say "semantic web pioneer" plus having co-founded a company that was publicly traded is an assertion of notability. If you think the assertion is questionable, that can be evaluated at Articles for deletion, but my understanding of the proposed deletion process is that you accept such assertions at face value. As for coverage by reliable sources, it may not be reflected in the current "References" section, but the external links include several that could be used for that. Hence my conclusion was that the article ought to be improved, not deleted. --Michael Snow (talk) 18:19, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sys-Con

[edit]

Please explain your removal of sys-con links from dozens of articles. This is a legitimate publisher of computer journals. How on earth can you call that spam? It is a reliable source? -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:02, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not a reliable source. The content appearing on SYS-CON is copied from other websites without approval of the authors and is packaged with ads. Where possible I have replaced links to SYS-CON content with the original press releases or blog posts. --beefyt (talk) 04:05, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sys Con is a reliable source. It is the publication website for numerous trade publications. Please show actual reliable evidence claiming a nationally known published is engaging in copyright infringement? And please cease removal until this is properly discussed. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:07, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure: [1], [2], [3]
I think its pretty clear from this pattern of behavior that SYS-CON cannot be trusted to deliver verifiable news. Likewise, their "trade publications" are little more than vehicles for advertisements and delivering fake awards to unsuspecting software publishers. This is just an advanced form of link sharing. --beefyt (talk) 04:13, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Some personal blogs and a SINGLE instance of a possible issue is NOT a valid reason to call this spam and strip all their links. Are you in the computer professional industry? Their trade publications ARE respected in the industry, and are not just vehicles for advertisement. I'm requesting outside views of this as it seems you are acting more form your own view than a consensus based decision that Sys-Con is no longer a reliable source. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:16, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. How do we do that? --beefyt (talk) 04:20, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Discussion started here Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#Sys-Con. Feel free to post any corrections to my summary of this discussion so far. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 04:24, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You have summed it up very well. Thank you for your help! --beefyt (talk) 04:28, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Center for Economic Progress, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Center for Economic Progress and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 21:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, PRISM (data-collection program)

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, PRISM (data-collection program). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – PRISM (surveillance program). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at PRISM (surveillance program) – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Nat Gertler (talk) 01:04, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You suggested a merge of Wittgenstein's ladder to Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. Please complete the proposal by adding a discussion to the talk page of the target to explain the proposal, and add a notice on the talk page of the article directing to that discussion. Note that the article was originally spun out of Lie-to-children, so that might be a better merge target. Fences&Windows 08:15, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Pop-Up Video DVD 80s.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:30, 16 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
