This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Christie Lynn Smith (actress), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.listal.com/christie-lynn-smith.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Christie Lynn Smith (actress) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from {{{value1}}}. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Article copies[edit]

Hi! I just wanted to let you know that while the article wasn't a copyright violation, it was a copy of another article that is already present in Wikipedia at Christie Lynn Smith. As such, I deleted it since there's no real need to have two articles for the same person. If you're aware of another person with the same name that would pass notability guidelines you can always create an article for them under something like Christie Lynn Smith (occupation). We traditionally wouldn't move an article unless the newer person is more well known and even then it'd have to be discussed first. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 11:01, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Winter Plummer - thoughts[edit]

Hi, I've just been reading your thoughts on the AfD page - am I right in thinking it was written by one of your students? I think basically the issue here (and why a lot of people are voting delete) is that Wikipedia discourages the creation of lots of small articles that are hard to find and read through - I think there's a good chance this woman's story might be worth adding onto a page discussing issues on topics like spousal abuse, PTSD, etc as a section of it.

What I think is making a lot of people vote delete is a lack of critical/analytical coverage of the case. So far, the citations and the article both really just say "This horrible thing happened, and that's bad.". You mention that it relates to violence against women in (and following service in) the military. I believe you, but none of the sources say that - Wikipedia articles aren't meant to present synthesis of developing an argument not presented in sources. (That kind of hampers any potential attempt to expand the article to being kept - adding mention of the topics you think it relates to would be removed as original thinking and synthesis.) I think if there was coverage relating to that topic (like that her husband entered as a mitigating factor PTSD following army service, or coverage of her life and death in criminology and psychology textbooks) this might have a shot at being kept as an independent article.

I must say, I'm biased on this - I think that a lot of small articles are hard for people to follow on Wikipedia, as you have to keep jumping from tab to tab making notes, and I tend to think that cases like this are better discussed thematically, in articles discussing an issue and presenting case studies, rather than as lots of independent small articles. That doesn't mean at all that the content in this article can't form part of an article, just that people seem to think that it doesn't quite add up to its own whole article. So in summary I think that this content could be kept, but it really needs some analysis coverage, and it might be better as part of a bigger article anyway. I remember in a deletion discussion in an article on a similar topic, the Alta View Hospital hostage incident, a big factor in the discussion why the article was kept was that it received extensive rather than just local news coverage.

Any thoughts about this? Blythwood (talk) 20:19, 31 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Blythwood. Thank you for this very insightful post. I'm going to bring said student, Hannah into the discussion. I think the information you posted above is great for getting me (and the class) to better interface with wikipedia. Thank you. Bellicist (talk) 18:51, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Bellicist. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Lightbringer (art car), for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
