Happy new year benzband! When do you think can this come out? — Yash [talk] 16:22, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Guerillero usually publishes it (using his alternative account User:In actu) once there is enough content to it. The New Year would be a nice occasion to publish it though, so i've started a thread on his talkpage :) benzband (talk) 16:46, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Bernard Rhodes

[edit]

What do you think? Is it better or worse than before? In other words, can we try to fix this new version or not? At first sight, it seems that this new version is better than before. Isn't? –pjoef (talkcontribs) 10:45, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hum, I will try to work it out, so let's see what happens. (P.S.: thanks for the Punk Christmas video.) –pjoef (talkcontribs) 18:29, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not so bad, not so bad... a couple of things were left out:

{{#tag:ref|In a television interview, [[Joe Strummer]] of The Clash said, after drawing the camera to Rhodes sleeping against a wall, "He invented punk...it was obviously too much for him", referring ironically to a statement of Rhodes himself. The scene and the statement are featured in the documentary ''[[Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten]]''.|group="n"}}

...which was atthe end of the lead section, and...

==Present day==

To date, Bernard Rhodes remains an enigmatic, Social Activist/Theorist and Humanitarian. In addition to his commentary on Social and Political Awareness from his Website, He has taken part and has raised awareness to a number of causes (Most recently supporting an opening at the Jewish Museum in London, January 2012). A Documentary is currently in the works about his Life and Work. No Release date has been scheduled.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://bernardrhodes.com/ |title=BernardRhodes.com |accessdate=05 June 2012}}</ref>

...at the end of the biography.

Thankfully, you had already done the most of the work, the hard part. However, I will check it out in the coming days. Bestest! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 19:40, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I was a little hazy on my previous message. For those same reasons, I have not readded them to the article, but I have not even removed the Notes section, thus leaving all suspended and floating in the air. The note is in The Future Is Unwritten, so it is referenceable. I remember that part well... I just have to know at which point it occurs. The main problem with it is that I do not like to have it within the lead section and there is not enough space in the article for transforming it into a quote box.... in conclusion DUNNO /o\. Also, I do not like the way the article closes (with the St Martin's incident section). The present day section was a good idea, but its content was not encyclopaedic. What about something like:

Present day
To date, Bernard Rhodes remains active on social and political issues from his website and by taking part to a number of causes. Most recently he was part of [A link to???] Entertaining the Nation: Stars of Music, Stage & Screen, an exhibition at the London Jewish Museum which featured him and many of his contemporaries from the world of music.

Thanks for taking the time to deliver The Underground Punk Zine, and for all the rest of the extraordinary contributions and services you are doing here on Wikipedia. Bestest! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 08:54, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That video is not good enough (as a source) because (if I remeber correctly) the poster has not uploaded the whole thing (I am not sure but I think it is a revised and shortened version). Here are a couple of full length videos:

Anyway, I've the DVD :) –pjoef (talkcontribs) 20:00, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the Present day section and “he invented punk…” occurs at 1:01:13–1:01:19, but I have not added it to the article, because I am unsure about where and in what form to put it. Probably within the "Management" section, which —imo— could be renamed "The Punk years", but "Management" is also okay. Bestest! –pjoef (talkcontribs) 09:59, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help!

[edit]

I clicked on you completely randomly through the editor assistance box. A member of a religious cult keeps reverting Jung Myung Seok to a completely whitewashed version that has no reliable sources. This guy is a leader of a sex cult, fled the law for almost 10 years, and is now in prison for rape (you can check the news stories on this), but his version deletes all that info. He is no longer engaging on the talk page so I need some outside assistance here. Shii (tock) 10:17, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Thanks for asking :) I have engaged Macauthor on his user talk page, since his edits are misguided and unhelpful. Harizotoh9 has warned him about edit warring and left a note on the article talkpage, so hopefully he will cease trying to force his version of the article. I'll be watching the page for further updates (and revert if he decides to edit war again). benzband (talk) 19:31, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help Project newsletter : Issue 5

[edit]
The Help Project Newsletter
Issue V - January 2013
Project news summary
From the editor

Hello again from the Help Project!

In the last newsletter (which was quite a while ago sorry!) I talked about my fellowship and the plans for improving the main portal page, Help:Contents. Well I'm sad to say that my fellowship is now over, but very happy to say that the proposed improvements to that page have been completed and implemented. Do check it out if you haven't already.

Another important and frequently used help page, Wikipedia:Contact us, has also seen a significant revamp. You may recognise the design inspiration from the new tutorial pages.

In project news, we now have a subscription to the "article alerts" service. Any deletion nominations, move discussions, or requests for comments on pages within the Help Project's scope will now show up at Wikipedia:Help Project/Article alerts. So that's definitely a page which project members might want to watch.

Any comments or suggestions for future issues are welcome at Wikipedia:Help Project/Newsletter. If you don't wish to receive this newsletter on your talk page in future then just edit the participants page and add "no newsletter" next to your name.

Tishma

[edit]

Checkin34z (talk) 16:13, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, may I please request your help. I have been editing some pages on wikipedia and not interacting with others, yet I suddenly found myself being harassed with personal attacks and receiving threats of getting blocked from wikipedia by a certain other user who has made it clear to me that any page he edits may not be touched by another (and if they do, then they will receive block threats and be accused of vandalism, as I did. (Please refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Vandalism) Apparently he was first provoked when I attempted to remove a copyrighted photo from a page that he was apparently following and he has been attacking me ever since. The copyrighted photo is still up, by the way, although I informed him of it being copyrighted. As far as I am aware, wikipedia pages are free for all to edit, and is not owned by one person, therefore I would appreciate it very much if this, threatening, bullying and harassment issue could be resolved please, it is damaging my wikipedia experience and is completely uncalled for, especially as I have not even interacted with the person in question and was merely editing as all wikipedia users do. Please help, thanks.

Checkin34z (talk) 16:13, 18 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Checkin34z, you should know, every contribution of yours, mine and all others can be traced. you mentioned - although I informed him of it being copyrighted. . when did you do that !? and exactly why do you think "threatening, bullying and harassment issue" happened ? why did you remove the maintenance templates ? When other editors complained about the content of Tishma article about being very poorly written from a fan's point of view, why did you revert those changes ? is it not you who think that you own the Tishma page ? why did you change www.milaislam.net to www.milaislam.com ? why did you remove the image link when the photo itself is NOT deleted from wikipedia commons and in fact it is FREE to use in wikipedia ? I wrongly assumed that you are a reasonable person. altaf 04:09, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks very much, I appreciate your reply and am glad you have resolved the issues. You are awesome. :) Checkin34z (talk) 03:11, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

evidence of harassment:

THIS MESSAGE i received from user altaf: (please check my talk page history) This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Tishma, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. altaf 10:20, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

Merely for editing a page. I guess this person thinks no one else has the right to edit pages on wikipedia. a polite gentle message on my talk page would have sufficed, but instead i got this alarming red button and a block threat, which is simply rude and abusive. Yes, it is alarming to receive this kind of threat for merely editing a wikipedia page, which is was supposed to be everyone's right.

concerning the copyrighted photo, i have seen the whole session on a webpage belonging to the photographer Rafiqul Islam Rafiq (search raf click on facebook) where he clearly mentions that all pictures by him are copyrighted. and the website i listed is the one that was given inside their latest album cover. check and see for yourself if you have any doubts. do not point fingers without knowing the truth please.

as far as i knew, there is nothing wrong with editing a page. but now i realise that only some people have the right to do so and others don't. please note that this altaf guy has been forcefully reverting pages to HIS edits only and is yet receiving no threats from anywhere. if edit-warring is against the rules then do u not think that he has no role in this? go back and check the number of times he has reverted pages back to to his exact edits. clearly, everyone is not welcome on wikipedia. Checkin34z (talk) 14:58, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Altaf was warning you about your edits (see Wikipedia:Vandalism#Warnings). Although the level 4im warning might not have been appropriate, the edits referred to weren't helpful. It is everyone's right to edit Wikipedia, but they must respect Wikipedia's content policies. Vandalism/biased/unsourced material may be reverted, and that's what Altaf did. You probably meant well by editing the articles, but so did he.
I have already explained the licensing of the image from Flickr, however if you still believe it is a copyright violation you must get it removed from Wikimedia Commons (see Commons:Copyright violations on how to do this).
Also, I've moved your posts down into this thread rather than having them right at the top: threads work downwards in chronological order. Regards, :-) benzband (talk) 10:42, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Uh-oh, so sorry i am totally new to this talk page thing, i'm leaving my message down here (but not sure if u'll be able to find my new message all the way down here lol :P) i just hope this is the right way to leave a message? OK i will learn how to put in the sources and then edit accordingly. I agree that warning from Altaf wasn't really appropriate, I got pretty freaked out you know, since a ban is a serious thing and u can guess I was really alarmed! I don't know much about Flickr licencing and wikipedia commons so i will look those up concerning mr. Rafiq's copyrighted picture. :) And thank u for all yr help for a newbie Ben, much appreciated. :) Checkin34z (talk) 13:12, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Checkin34z is back to square one. With this edit in the same Tishma article, today he yet again removed the maintenance templates and added POV/hyperbole/peacock/weasel worded sentences. And he left this message to me. After everything, I am not sure what to say. Altaf 06:19, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have replied on my talk page. Altaf (talk) 06:17, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I guessed that that guy altaf was behind your previous message, and I was correct. Regarding the article, I have seen similar language used in many other wikipedia articles and so do not see why mine is such a huge problem. Since it was an edit to the first line, I don't think it would be appropriate to add more to that part of the article, as the logic behind the article is already within the rest of the article (record sales, changes. etc.) and it would look strange to discuss record sales and etc in the first line of the article, right? Anyway, since you wish for references anyway, I will do so immediately. may i please know how to add references to an article? i cannot find the ref toolbar mentioned here anywhere in the page! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Introduction_to_referencing/3 but I would also appreciate if you could encourage altaf to not continue making personal attacks against me, as it makes me feel highly unwelcome on this site. I say "personal attacks" as his behaviour towards me in not appropriate. It is harassment, since I actually messaged him politely about the change i made (which I am not even supposed to do, since wikipedia is not his property) and if he found a problem, he could have likewise messaged me back instead of running to an editor with yet another complaint about me. I made such a minor edit to the article, and if there was any mistake, could he not have merely pointed out any errors to me as a newbie instead? Or does he have a problem with allowing newcomers to work on wikipedia as well and merely try to land them in trouble instead? I am not really sure why he is determined to complain about me no matter what edit I make, but his aggressive stance is clear, and if everyone were to behave this way towards newbies, I am sure wikipedia would become a very isolated place, which it is indeed not. I am open to anyone explaining how I can imp[rove my edits, but I am not open to being treated like a criminal - by this exact same one user - for every word I ever type on the site. Please note that my edits were made in good faith and that I have written nothing malicious. I am now afraid to even touch any other page as I am feeling stalked and now opening the wikipedia site is turning into a nightmare. I even saw a wikipedia banner ad today which says , "please do not bite the newcomers." Please look into this matter, thank you. Checkin34z (talk) 03:27, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Checkin34z, dont worry, the ordeal will be over soon. The issue is in Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard#Tishma now. Once a decision is made, we'll have peace all around and move on with our lives. Altaf (talk) 01:59, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

thank you, i will update the old edit again with references. (new edit to this message: thank you very much, i just tried it and it worked beautifully! much easier than it looked)

before anything, sorry if this message seems long, i just don't want you to think i have intentionally done anything wrong, since Altaf has just mentioned that there is "nothing" about the content i stated in that banglanews24.com website, then in order to clear my name, i think i need to point out, where did these come from then? (just a few articles about topic in question from the named website) www.banglanews.com references: (to be fair, it is a news website and has a LOT of content, but i am sure Altaf could have run a search before commenting and making me look odd)
