Wayne State University student center

Hi! I notice the reverting here

  • 1. I prefer opening a line of communication on the user's talk page if I have to revert like that. If this isn't done I fear the editor will think that he/she is being reverted for no good reason. An inexperienced user may not think to consult the page history.
  • 2. There may be a sub-article Buildings at Wayne State University or something similar which may be a place to put this super-specific information.

I agreed with the reversions you made to the article, and much of the content sounds like it's not encyclopedic. I wonder if maybe there can be a separate Campus of Wayne State University article so in-depth aspects may be discussed. WhisperToMe (talk) 05:44, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

WhisperToMe, which one of the five SPA accounts should I talk to? I was already told to go fuck my self and suck some faggot dick. Great advice for a situation you know nothing about. Bgwhite (talk) 05:56, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
One of these users had a completely empty talk page, Bgwhite. One can only make decisions and give advice based on what he/she knows: the one user who did have a not-empty talk page only had was a warning not to make some vanity article (it was deleted), and the other had notifications of copyvios. Only one of these users seemed to have any substantial editing, and I did not see any etiquette warnings on any of their pages. I am aware new users can be quite rude, but will that be the case with every new user? WhisperToMe (talk) 06:03, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

WhisperToMe, well duh! SPA accounts do have very few edits and empty talk pages, that is why they are called SPA accounts. Cdubbs727 wasn't the rude one and you are missing two more SPA accounts that didn't edit the page, but told me where to go. You made assumptions and are continuing to make bad assumptions. You gave bad advice. You told a seasoned editor how to deal with a situation that you hadn't a clue about. Next time, give your advice to a newbie. Bgwhite (talk) 06:21, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
Who insulted you? If you think I had missed some accounts or don't have a full understanding of the situation, then please take time out of your schedule to show me the things I didn't see. If I only see part of the story, is it not understandable that I make the conclusion? I looked through the edit history and I only see Eleedy, Cdubbs727, and Njriva in regards to your edits (from the last 500 revisions). Going through the edit history I can't find additional edits related to this. The talk page has no mention of your username. I did a search on your talk page archives for "Wayne State" and I found no results. I would like to see the information related to this insult so I may have a fuller picture of this scenario.
Furthermore I still don't see what's wrong with notifying SPAs who are making newbie mistakes "Hey, stop making newbie mistakes!" If they are not in league with each other, then there's no need to treat all SPAs like lepers. Wikipedia:SPA makes it clear that not all SPAs are bad intentioned, and many do want to contribute to the encyclopedia.
I stand by my belief that newbies who make newbie mistakes need to be notified of this. If good-intentioned SPAs are only brushed off without any attempts to communicate with them, it means many potential contributors are turned off. If they are educated on Wikipedia matters, perhaps they can become valuable members of the community.
WhisperToMe (talk) 06:56, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

GO AWAY!!!! You don't template the regulars. That is exactly what you are doing. Yet, you keep at it. I do not want to deal with idiots like this. Why can't you get that? Yet, you keep at it. When the SPAs say "to go fuck my self and suck some faggot dick", then it is NOT good-ententioned SPAs. What do you not understand about this? You really thinking they are good intentioned just under scores how clueless you are. Next time, don't tell a regular what to do. Don't tell a regular when you haven't the foggiest on what is going on. Don't keep at it when the other person doesn't want to talk back. Now go away. Never come back. You are banned. Go find a clue stick and hit yourself repeatedly. Those emails, from SPAs, that you will shortly be getting that say to fuck yourself, they didn't come from me. Night

Hi Bg, could you say why you changed some of the citation styles at Night?

It's a featured article, and it followed a consistent style (manual, bundled refs, long on first reference, short thereafter, first name/last name, elements separated by commas, dates at the end). See WP:CITEVAR.

You added citation templates to some, and unbundled some, but not all. You removed explanations of what the references were for (e.g. for sales figures, see x), so that now it's not clear which ref covers which point. Some refs now have dates in brackets after the name; other dates are placed at the end of the citation without brackets. Some use commas, others use periods. Some are first name/last name, and others last name/first name. SlimVirgin (talk) 13:23, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

SlimVirgin, I didn't see that is was a featured article. I started off with AWB, but then switched to manual. If I had noticed it was FA, I wouldn't have meddled. I apologize for that. I've been in the mist of helping some other people get ready for GA, so I've got ref templates on my mind.
The article became an FA in 2006. At least when when I was more involved with FA a few years back, it had to use ref templates. Advantages are for data mining and COinS support. Not sure if that is still the case. Bgwhite (talk) 05:50, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
No, it's not. WP:WIAFA criterion 2c says "consistently formatted inline citations ... The use of citation templates is not required." By having some in templates but not others, it's no longer consistent. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:23, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks to both for the replies, and thanks for the apology, Bgwhite. I'll switch back to the manual refs when I make my next edits there. SlimVirgin (talk) 13:37, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

Methylammonium halide (3-col) edits broke layout

Please see my thank-you on Methylammonium halide/talk for your efforts, but since the changes broke the layout on the latest firefox, I rolled them back. I welcome your efforts if you take another shot at fixing my layout, but please DO test on multiple browsers/resolutions.

Riventree It looks just fine on the latest versions of Firefox (v 32.02), Chrome (v37) and IE (v11). It is a standard template used on 18,000 pages. What version are you running? How does it look broke? Bgwhite (talk) 20:23, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
I have Firefox 32.0.2 and in this version the markup {{columns-list|3| is visible in the rendered page; below that is the Methylammonium chloride box; far right of that is the Methylammonium bromide; below that is the Methylammonium iodide box; whereas in this version, Methylammonium bromide is top of the left-hand half; Methylammonium chloride is directly below; Methylammonium iodide is top of the right-hand half, although very much to the left - it's left-hand edge is on screen centre. Curious thing is that if I change the zoom by one step (either in or out), the three boxes are now correctly side by side (bromide on left, chloride in middle, iodide on right); and what's more, if I return to the normal zoom, they keep the corrected positions. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:28, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
Redrose64, the first version you give has a missing bracket, which I fixed in the second version you give. Looks like Frietjes has been working on the template. Hopefully she has an answer. Bgwhite (talk) 22:41, 23 September 2014 (UTC)
{{columns-list}} is less robust vs. {{div col}}. I see the same strangeness with the alignment when I resize the browser window. seems like a browser bug. I will see if I can come up with a better option for that page. Frietjes (talk) 22:47, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Dear BgWhilte; I am Mansoureh Sharifzadeh the author of the wikipedia page on "Michael H. Prosser". Someone, I think it was you, recently removed a great deal of material from the page and posted a warning about close connections and possible conflict of interest. The material are like what are included on other Living people Wiki pages, what is the matter that those materials should have been deleted only from Michael H. Prosser's and should remain in other pages? those are his books and co-edited books which have no links to be provided, could I ask you to explain the case in my talk page or in yours to help me understand my mistake? What can I do to reinstate the material? Thanks you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mansoureh Sharifzadeh (talkcontribs) 01:58, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Mansoureh Sharifzadeh There have been several people that have been reverting your additions. There are two important points.
  • You need to add references. Any material that not referenced is subject for removal, especially on articles about living people.
  • Alot of the material you have added is not needed. A list of published article or chapters in books are not need. The article should be about the highlights of his life and work. Journal articles are something that every academic does alot of, thus not important.
Bgwhite (talk) 04:17, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Greetings from Tehran. I thank you for your time and very nice explanations, please help me to do a good job on Prof. Prosser's page. Now, please let me know which one of those removed books can remain. I thank you in advance.

Please add this source for the Kitt Twins article

Hello Bgwhite,

I noticed that the Camille and Kennerly Kitt article remains rated as Start-Class. This makes me feel depressed, unhappy, and even a bit sad. After all, let's not forget the substantial improvements made by Lesser, and especially the fact that I put that awesome picture into the article. So, I have submitted the page for assessment tonight. Now this is why your assistance is critically important: I found a reliable source that shows that the Harp Twins were in the movie Politics of Love. It's from India-West. So, please, Mr. Bgwhite, could you insert this reference in the Acting section right after "Camille and Kennerly portrayed "The Merry Christians" in the film Politics of Love,"? The citation is "hidden" in the following paragraph (if I show it then it might mess up your talk page, and the world would most likely come to an end immediately). Here:

Can you believe that I have learned to hide text? I'm becoming such an experienced Wikipedian. Soon I'll have my own bot! Anyway, inserting that source might be what takes the Harp Twins article up to the next level on the quality scale. Actually, it all boils down to that detail. Many thanks as always... Dontreader (talk) 17:57, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Dontreader, ah crap. I had forgotten about you. See Assassin, you aren't the only one I forget. I probably forgot because I was too enamored with a certain somebody's singing on videos. I had seen that awhile back. Interesting how they, errr, I mean she hasn't changed over two years. I'll look at the rest of your message when I get back in a few hours. Bgwhite (talk) 18:04, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
You should see a Doc.. Now don't forget I've an proposal at the end. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 18:08, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Bgwhite, they, I mean she, has not changed in two years because having such uplifting virtues always compensates for gravity. And Captain Assassin!, if you are saying that I need a doctor, you are completely wrong. Twelve psychiatrists are currently treating me, and none of them has ever told me that I'm crazy. Now please excuse me because it's time for me to take my antipsychotics. Dontreader (talk) 19:51, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
The ref has been added. I feel your pain. I too used to take antipsychotics, but all they did was to drown out all the voices, which allowed my wife's voice to become much louder. I was left in a quandary. Do I take antidepressents and listen to my wife's voice or not take antipsychotics and be in bliss with hundreds of voices? I decided to replace the wife. I went to a dating site that has people just like me. Now, no medications and I can just be me. Whoop Whoop. Bgwhite (talk) 20:38, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
Why didn't you tell me about that dating site before? I would have given you a Barnstar - even the one that never stops rotating. There are too many crazy people out there these days. Recently I found a woman on match.com and on our first date I took her out to an expensive restaurant, and then when the waiter came with the bill, she expected me to pay it. Outrageous. What you said about your wife's voice becoming much louder reminds me of a former friend of mine from Russia who used to claim that his dog barked much louder when he had hangovers. He posted a YouTube video asking the Harp Twins to cover the Soviet national anthem, and he added that he was their "biggest fan". Imagine that. I took him to court, of course. He is such an idiot. Anyway, thanks Bgwhite for adding the reference! Dontreader (talk) 00:45, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Your changes/undo's to Filmmaker/poet Louis Antonelli's Wikipedia Page 9/26/14, Re: REELSTORY

Bgwhite, We ask you respectfully to please not 'undo' our work to further document the histories of veteran Filmmaker and poet, Louis Antonelli. Rellstory is directly authorized by Mr. Antonelli, himself, as to the additions and changes we make to further document and illuminate his vast career and commercial/artistic accomplishments. All of the recently added material, including quotes, reviews, images, have been in publication from 6 to 35 years (earliest.) We do not understand your statement within notes that the photos, etc., have nothing to do with Louis Antonelli (when in fact they are intimately connected to him.) We directly represent Mr. Louis Antonelli, and he approved (directly) of our changes after being made aware of them, and viewing the page, personally. If you wish Mr. Antonelli to contact you directly to confirm this, please advise us of an email address, or phone number he can reach you at. We are dedicated to the history of this singular communicator, and what we do is appreciated by his Domestic and International audience. If you do not agree with our documentation of this artist, that is of course your right, but we very respectfully ask that you do not alter this page again, unless it is to make rightful additions, not to take away what we have faithfully, rightfully, and accurately documented here. With regards, Pmjahoa REELSTORY. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reelstory (talkcontribs) 09:58, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Reelstory
  1. You are being paid by Antonelli to alter the article about him. This is a conflict of interest. See WP:COI. This is very dangerous. It is advised that you do not edit. See WP:COIADVICE for what you can and can't do.
  2. You must remain neutral. Having 20+ quotes praising him is in noway neutral. See WP:NPOV
  3. Everything must be referenced. Saying a quote is referenced by "Amazon.com" is not a reference. A person trying to find the quote cannot do it. Many of the films I couldn't find anything on and the only thing Google returned was the Wikipedia article. In a biography, if something is not referenced it can be removed at anytime. See WP:BLPSOURCES
  4. There are waaaay to many photos that don't relate to Antonelli. Having 12 movie posters is not needed. Only add images if it is relevant.
  5. We only add films when filming has commenced.
  6. You do not control the page. You cannot tell anyone to edit or not edit. This is not Antonelli's page or anyone else's.
Bgwhite (talk) 22:30, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

bgwhite,

  1. No, I am not in any awy an employee of Louis Antonelli - I am an immediate family member, and I have his full authorization to add historical things to this page.
  1. Why does a movie poster FROM one of Louis Antonelli's released films not have any hisorical interest for him, his audience, documenting history? OK, too many, we will put a few only, will you still 'undo'?
  1. All of the review quotes were published in magazines, nespapers, periodicals, journals, and online review sites. I will add a direct reference to each one and then will update. Wonder of there will still be a 'problem' then, as frankly, and with no disrespect, you seem more like a rogue policeman than a cultured historian, librarian.
  1. Why is the top photo of Mr. Antonelli not relevant? SO many historical profiles of living peoeple, etc., have MANY photos, but most esp. a top photo, but you 'undo' that too - - do you just go for a blanket, accross the board 'undo' (which seems to be the case.) You also took away with your 'undo' three new, released works by Louis Antonelli, a poetic work, and three motion pictures, and btw, it is ridiculous for you to say that all you 'found' on a web search was this Wikipedia page for Mr. Antonelli, really? His last film, "One Live KISS, as released globally by Universal Pictures/Ume, featurinf Paul Stanley, legendary founder of KISS. There is a HUGE amount of publicity, reviews (some of which were quoted here) etc., for the movie, Mr. Stanley, and Mr. Antonelli, and that's just for starters. TO be honest, there is something 'wrong' here...may I ask, do you have something 'personally against' Louis Antonelli? Your total, fast undo's seem to indicate that, as well as your zeal on this subject.
  1. I will redo the work I did, referencing everything, and placing only a few. key images of Louis Antonelli. I suppose we will see what happens...then.

Good day to you, Pmjahoa REELSTORY — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reelstory (talkcontribs) 23:00, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

Reelstory, you are working on behalf of Antonelli and a family member, therefore you have a Conflict of Interest. The quotes will not be added back in no matter what. They are highly promotional and not neutral. The is an encyclopedia, not a PR piece. 12 posters and 6 different poses of Antonelli do not belong in the article. I reverted all of them because I did not know which photo of Antonelli's belonged.
We must act in good faith and not start accusing people of having a beef against someone, calling someone a zealot or policeman. This is a place where thousands of different people look at all sort of articles. Look at the history of Anonelli's article and see all the people who have edited. Read what I said and not start off with accusations. I said, "Many of the films I couldn't find anything on and the only thing Google returned was the Wikipedia article." I never said I only searched for Antonelli. Be very careful with your accusations. I gave the pages where the rules are found. You are not immune to these rules. More controversial changes

You have made a whole string of changes to the Portsmouth Direct Railway. These are controversial and should have been discussed in Talk before they were executed. Quite apart from matters of opinion, you have introduced a couple of errors, one of which someone else has rectified in the meantime, and altered a citation in support of text I have written, to cite a book I have not read and that may or may not support the text; there is also an error in the name of a book editor.

This is not the first time I have asked you to be more accommodating in this kind of issue. Afterbrunel (talk) 08:55, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Afterbrunel, gee wiz. You can never be nice can you? For once, ask a question instead of doing accusations. Egads. What was controversial? I replied at Talk:Portsmouth Direct Line Bgwhite (talk) 05:02, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

You make plenty of errors

You and your robot made this crazy error today:

YOU CHANGED FROM: [http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-107-056-3 Ref]
YOU CHANGED TO: [http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN 978-952-107-056-3 Ref]

It causes the URL to be read as http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN instead of http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-107-056-3 .
You made the very same error on the very same page on 6 Jun 2014.
Seanwal111111 (talk) 19:51, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Seanwal111111, no it is not crazy. People make mistakes, including you. In the body of text there should be no punctuation between the word ISBN and the number. The bot is thinking this for the ref you gave. It is also considered bad practice to do this in an URL. You need to use the correct links. Instead of http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-107-056-3, use http://www.doria.fi/handle/10024/69829.
Also, you need to add this as a references and not as an inline link. Instead of [http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-107-056-3 Ref] is should be <ref>http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-107-056-3</ref>
Do not use <b> or <i>, use ''' or '' instead. Bgwhite (talk) 20:24, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
No. You are making a crazy error. In your reply, you're implicitly stating that any URL with the substring "ISBN:" should be invalidated by Wikipedia robots. At the linked page in question, it states: "The permanent address of the publication is http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-107-056-3 " (click at upper right to see that in English language at the page). Seanwal111111 (talk) 20:36, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
Seanwal111111, stop with the crazy error talk as that is plain rude. I haven't a clue what you are saying in your second sentence. Read the second paragraph. Bgwhite (talk) 20:54, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
Here are some valid internet addresses. They contain "ISBN:" as a substring within the address. When you delete the colon after the ISBN in any of these addresses, you make the address invalid:
http://econpapers.repec.org/RePEc:mhr:btrfin:urn:isbn:9783161486838
http://econpapers.repec.org/RePEc:mhr:wiseot:urn:isbn:9783161509957
https://socionet.ru/publication.xml?h=repec:mhr:untord:urn:isbn:9783165304114&l=en
https://socionet.ru/publication.xml?h=repec:mhr:untord:urn:isbn:9783161475030&l=en
http://www.hackcraft.net/bookref/?urn:isbn:0853236933
http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-952-60-5501-5
http://urn.fi/URN:ISBN:978-951-44-8967-9
How come you don't see the robotic deletion of the colon in these cases as simply and obviously crazy? Seanwal111111 (talk) 21:59, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
Seanwal111111, go away. I'm tired of you being rude. I'm tired of you not actually reading what I wrote. For pete sake's, try reading what somebody wrote for a change. For the last time, stop calling me a robot, ie stupid. Yes, I know, as you said before, a human wouldn't do something as stupid as that, therefore I'm a bot. Stop with the word crazy. Thanks for your edit to Wikied. I didn't know that redirects can't go to user space. But I don't think the redirect as it stands is very helpful. There is a link WP:Wikied, which goes to User:Cacycle/wikEd, and I was trying to emulate that.

Looking this up on the Village Pump and other talk pages, there a few cases of people who use "wikied" in the sense of "wikified", or who say "I wikied it = I looked it up in Wikipedia". But in the vast majority of cases it's a misspelling of "WikEd". Is there any legal way to send people who type "wikied" to Cacycle's userspace page on WikEd? – Margin1522 (talk) 06:39, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Margin1522, there are currently no redirects to user space. There are a few wikilinks to user space, usually an editor made news about something they did on Wikipedia. Maybe Magioladitis would know more. Bgwhite (talk) 07:06, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
In general we avoid Wikipedia:Cross-namespace redirects. the are very few and extreme exceptions to this rule. -- Magioladitis (talk) 07:12, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, I asked there. – Margin1522 (talk) 07:35, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
OK, thanks. Sorry for the crossup. I will just forget it then. – Margin1522 (talk) 07:35, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny

Please take a look at Draft:Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny and move it to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II: The Green Destiny - And the plot is not given yet, so I will add when it comes out, thanks. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:22, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Assassin You should mention the film at Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon#Sequel, which is where the redirect was directed to. You forgot a comma in the title. But worst of all, you forgot to wikilink Michelle Yeoh. She is one of my all-time favorite actresses. Have you seen the original film? It is one of my top ten favorite films. Bgwhite (talk) 22:33, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
No, I've not seen the original film, but I'm going to it this weekend. And I'll add everything you asked for, thanks. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 01:19, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

A Monster Calls (film)

Please take a look at Draft:A Monster Calls (film) and move it to A Monster Calls (film) - Thanks. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 02:39, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Assassin, need to mention the book on the film's article and the film on the book's article. The redirect was pointing to the book's section on the film. Bgwhite (talk) 04:44, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, sure. Thank you. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 06:03, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

I see you have deleted my refutation that your first removal request was invalid because it did not violate wiki's "crystal ball" policy. However, given that you have a clear grievance for the work (overlooking radio media of the text in Chicago, New Orleans, Boston, etc.), par wiki protocol, I have filed a complaint with on the admin. boards

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maldoror2 (talkcontribs) 07:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Gurnow/Edward Grievance

You clearly have a problem with Gurnow and/or Snowden since you have taken it upon yourself to request deletion of every mention of the author's work despite Gurnow being a nationally recognized author who has been on national radio throughout the country speaking about his work--he was quoted by Pultizer-winning film critic Roger Ebert (did you bother researching this author at all before making your deletion request) for God's sake. So I can only assume your peeve is their personal or political. Which is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maldoror2 (talkcontribs) 08:23, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

My talk page

Please, would you mind visiting there and adding some insight into what has happened there. I am hurt and upset and Hafs perhaps thinks this may be a joke, but even he is not sure. But I have taken it as a threat to him and as a reason for you to be on my page in not good faith. And to add to it all, your messages to me were unsigned. Hafs is easily upset and I can't take any drama. I have even posted to Drmies user page by mistake in not dealing with this well. I am just about in tears. Which I hope I am forgiven for. Fylbecatulous talk 14:09, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

I've told Fylbecatulous they've done nothing be be upset about, but I'm afraid your humor didn't show well enough. I know how easy it is to forget to sign. Dougweller (talk) 14:57, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.
  • I have seen your apology on my talk page and I absolutely forgive you for the unintentional mishap. I am going to promptly hide that entire section away in my archives. I see Hafspajen has gifted you with pictures, so I feel most happy. I wish you all the best. I also apologise for getting all crazy about this. Fylbecatulous talk 20:12, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
  • Fylbecatulous, you didn't go crazy, so no apology is necessary. It was understandable, especially without my signature. On the bright side, we will always remember each others names now. "humor" alert. I'm still not over Hafs' cruelty. Every time I see that name, Nuki Nuki starts singing in my head. Thank you for the paintings. My favourite it the flowers by Severin Roesen. The guy made up of vegetables is creepy. The art on my house walls is a little strange. My favourite is an alien landscape image done all by spray paint. The artist did it in front of me and took my suggestions. Bgwhite (talk) 21:03, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
MMmm, that Severin Roesen was new to me too, found him just because of putting together your gallery. Might nominate that one for FP... Hafspajen (talk) 23:04, 1 October 2014 (UTC)Nuki nuki nuki Nuki nuki nuki Nuki nuki nuki

Tangential mention

I have mentioned you tangentially at this discussion I thought I should tell you of this mention. Thank you.—John Cline (talk) 06:17, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

John Cline, Maldoror2 is back with Bob's House. He created it. An AfD was slapped on it. Maldoror2 asked for it to speedy deleted. I removed the speedy. If you feel the article should have been deleted instead, delete away. I'm now waiting for how evil, biased and mean I am. Bgwhite (talk) 07:08, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
John Cline, I know think it is a hoax to prove a point. Bgwhite (talk) 07:13, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

column-count cleanup

Hi. I finished the last list of articles that you generated for me which contained "-moz-column-count:" or "-webkit-column-count:" or "column-count:" (i.e., the css generated by the {{column-count}} template). if it's possible, it would be great to re-generate the list to see if there are any that I missed. you can drop the list in User:Frietjes/moz if possible. I am also interested in things like <div class="references-small"> or <div class="references">, but that may be a really big list. thank you for your help. Frietjes (talk) 16:35, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Frietjes, the first 2,048 articles that contain <div class="references-small"> can be located at User:Bgwhite/Sandbox2. The list came from a scan of ~15% of the dump file. So, your really big list prediction came to pass. In theory, a dump enwiki dump should start up in the next few days. I say in theory because last month's finished 20 days late. I'll run the "-moz-column-count:" search on the new dump to eliminate any articles you already fixed this month. Bgwhite (talk) 03:34, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
thank you, I copied the list to my userspace. should be able to clean these up relatively quickly since most can be replaced with a simple {{refbegin}}/{{refend}}. just need to check for odd cases where it's wrapping <references /> or {{reflist}}. thank you again. Frietjes (talk) 20:34, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

GraviTalent

I got speedly deletion on GraviTalent's page. The question is why is it seems to be advertising to you. The article is based on facts with external links and was encyclopedic. Other companies has the same content on their page. Could you help me better understanding this?

Thank You for your help.

Leonitre — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leonitre (talkcontribs) 08:40, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Leonitre, two reasons. The article is promotional and nothing in the article says the company is notable. None of the references were independent or reliable. The engagingleader ref never mentions the company. References from the company or from the PR department (as put on the conference websites) are not independent. The article has promotional words, "revolutionize", "well-rounded team". The products section is nothing but marketing speak. In order for a company to be notable, there has to be independent, reliable refs that go into detail about the company. The article must remain neutral. I'm not the only one who thinks this as there have been three of us. Bgwhite (talk) 20:59, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

The Fifth Wave (film)

Please take a look at Draft:The Fifth Wave (film) and move it to The Fifth Wave (film) - Thanks. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:57, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

If someone could take User:Josve05a/Alone from me, I would be verry happy. Good luck, and may the odds be all in your favour! (tJosve05a (c) 17:06, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) I will take it my friend. You will be missed. :'( Jim Carter (from public cyber) 18:34, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
It would be more better if you move The Fifth Wave (film) it The 5th Wave (film), per novel title. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:30, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Assassin, I'm not sure what to call it. I see reference to both titles. You adding a redirect to The 5th Wave (film) is the best option at the moment. Let's wait to see what the distributors call it. Bgwhite (talk) 20:25, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 02:09, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

PPS the Writah speedy delection

hello i just received this by you :This article may meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion because in its current form it serves only to promote or publicise an entity, person, product, or idea, and would require a fundamental rewrite in order to become encyclopedic. However, the mere fact that a company, organization, or product is an article's subject does not, on its own, qualify that article for deletion under this criterion. Nor does this criterion apply where substantial encyclopedic content would remain after removing the promotional material; in this case please remove the promotional material yourself, or add the

tag to alert others to do so. See CSD G11.

If this article does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice, but do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself. If you created this page, and you disagree with the given reason for deletion, you can click the button below and leave a message, explaining why you believe this article should not be deleted. You can also visit the talk page to check if you have received a response to your message.

Note that once tagged with this notice, this article may be deleted at any time if it unquestionably meets the speedy deletion criteria, or if an explanation posted to the talk page is found to be insufficient.

My poblem is that it is the first article i write in wikipedia and i m collaborator of the artist. He gave me a basic text because we didnt knew it needed to write something special so if you tell us exactly what we should write so that it isnt advertising we can proceed to it. Please give us some time and dont delete the article because i allready passed so much time trying to do everything right with all the errors wikipedia indicated we had but it is my first article so i take some time till i do things right plus the artist is preparing his new album and we talk every 2 days for all this thank you.Lila Karakas (talk) 22:41, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Lila Karakas, I copied the article to User:Lila Karakas/sandbox. You can work on articles in your sandbox, without the fear of it getting deleted. Some things I noticed about the article.... Most of the links go nowhere. Don't need all the social networking sites, just one. Try to avoid words like "most prominent", "best", "greatest". These words are subjective. Need to add references. If have any questions, please ask away. Bgwhite (talk) 22:47, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you ye i have questions
  1. if i made it with all that how do i post from my sandbox an article so a it is public?
  2. I m constructing now his site and most senegalese rappers and musiciens havent one thats why they have facebook myspace etc thats why i posted all of them.
  3. When you say references what exactly do you mean? i tried to put some external links to articles and also i tried to link words in the text to some internal wikiwords (senegal for instance) but it seems it isnt still right. There is obviously something i havent understood. Is there any model that we could use???
Thank you Lila Karakas (talk) 23:00, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
I can move the page from your sandbox when you are ready.
Just put up his official Facebook page and not all the rest.
By references, I mean any newspaper, book, web or any other news source. Where does it say he released an album and what is on it. That would be a reference. Baaba Maal, Ismaël Lô and Orchestra Baobab would be good ones to looks at. Bgwhite (talk) 23:11, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
