2011 Bahraini uprising[edit]

Small advice[edit]

The user Petersbah is suspected to be PR outlet, so when you see edits by him/her you make sure it contains false info. I for myself remove any incited info this guy adds. Also many of cited info he adds are not actually included in the ref or only the first part is included and the other part is original search. So I recommend you to be very skeptical of his edits (and if you can check his previous edits from his contributions to remove other false info he added) - btw, he never reverts when you remove info he added, basically because he works for money, not for original reasons. I understand that you would want to follow Wikipedia rules, but if you look at this user's previous edits, you will understand how destructive and misleading these edits can be. I don't know how to report this to Wikipedia, but if you do, then you can use his previous edits to distort the articles of many human right defenders and opposition leaders from Bahrain as evidence. Yeah, I'm aware of him, and I suspect he is likely to be a PR activist based on his edit history as well. I do revert his edits whenever I'm sure that the information is false, like when he said that the BICI report claimed the medics denied treatment based on sect. As for his edit saying that BCHR asked people to change testimony, I thought that was likely to be false, since I don't remember reading that when I read the BICI report, but I wasn't 100% sure. In the future, I'll be more pro-active about removing dubious uncited claims by PetersBah, given his history of dubious edits. As for reporting him to Wikipedia, I looked into it. Wikipedia has some information about handling suspected conflict of interests here. It looks like the first step Wikipedia recommends is to contact the user. If "persuasion fails," it seems that the user can be reported to the this noticeboard. I think the case is fairly strong, especially given the fact that his edit to John Yates occurred before the news of Yates' involvement with Bahrain was made public, according to a Google News "date range" search by me, and this blog post (here). What I'm going to do is directly contact PetersBah, let him know that I suspect he may be a conflict of interest, outline the reasons by going through all of his edits, and point him to the Wikipedia Conflict of Interest guidelines. If he doesn't satisfactorily respond, and his edits continue, then I plan to file a report on the COIN noticeboard. I'm going to probably directly contact him sometime late tomorrow, as that involves a lot of research into his edits, and I'm pretty busy for the rest of the day. Yeah, I saw that. When the Bell Pottinger Wikipedia story broke a few days ago, I reported PetersBah as a possible Bell Pottinger account to a Wikipedia admin. He did an investigation, and said that PetersBah was unrelated to the other Bell Pottinger accounts they found. However, they banned PetersBah for propaganda anyway, and they may or may not still be investigating. Billmarczak (talk) 20:06, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are doing a great job by adding BICI results to many articles in Wikipedia. Just in case you didn't know there are other reports published before BICI which you might be interested to know about:

Human Price of Freedom and Justice, a 94-page joint report by a group of Bahrain's independent human rights NGOs presenting the main key findings from the ongoing effort to document violations occurring in the state of Bahrain during the 2011 Bahraini uprising. Published on 22 November
Targets of Retribution, a 54-page report issued by Human Rights Watch on July 18, 2011 to document serious government abuses, starting in mid-February 2011 during the 2011 Bahraini uprising.
International Crisis Group report on Bahrain, 28 pages, published on April 2011.

Thanks. I knew about the International Crisis Group report, and the BCHR report, but I didn't know about the HRW report -- I'll take a look. The only other reports that I think of at the moment are:

Do No Harm: A Call for Bahrain to End Systematic Attacks on Doctors and Patients, a 42-page report from Physicians for Human Rights (here).

Which Future for Bahrain? This is a 41-page report by Human Rights Without Frontiers (here).

Bahia Alaradi[edit]

She was buried in Manama [1]. Her name is "al-Aradi" i.e from Arad (Bahraini -> Bahrain). However, Al Wefaq also said "location: Manama" which indicates to me that she lived in Manama, but is originally from Arad. Bahraini Activist (talk) 22:15, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
