April 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi Blakevoyles! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Al Letson unsourced addition[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Quisqualis. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Quisqualis (talk) 17:41, 28 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

BCS Peabody[edit]

Please do not add this to all the cast members or crew, the award was for the show in general not everyone in it. ★Trekker (talk) 18:40, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I am currently working for the Peabody Awards program, and have been assigned to add the award to everyone that was a part of the winning submission including cast and crew. Blakevoyles (talk) 18:54, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That seems like a very dubious idea to me, the award would need to be hadded to thousands of articles, I don't think Wikipedia would approve this unless the Peabody Awards made it very clear and listed everyone by name when awarding the prize.★Trekker (talk) 18:37, 15 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have been tasked with adding Peabody Award winner to the notable people associated with every winning program. Blakevoyles (talk) 18:32, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have also noticed this user is adding (I'm assuming) their own name into the citation template as the author, when the attributed name "Blake Voyles" does not appear in the sources being used. It's also possible this account is a WP:COI. Tagging @StarTrekker: out of interest. Drovethrughosts (talk) 20:09, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Drovethrughosts: Yeah that's not really appropriate, Blakevoyles I really think you should stop.★Trekker (talk) 22:00, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know exactly how the citation template works, but I'll take my name out. I thought it was used to see who added what, but I really do work for Peabody and my boss told me to add it for everyone notable. Blakevoyles (talk) 18:48, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Blakevoyles. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Mvcg66b3r (talk) 19:44, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the worry of conflict of interest, but I am strictly updating the winners and nominees for record keeping purposes. Nothing is subjective or opiniated, I am sticking strictly to the fact that the program has won or was nominated for a Peabody Award. This is for record keeping purposes only; trying to update records of this past years winners. Thank you for your time, and I hope you have a great rest of your day! :) Blakevoyles (talk) 20:04, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Peabody awards, local TV stations[edit]

Hi Blake,

I wanted to suggest something after seeing your edit at KXTV. We don't have accolades sections in station articles, because they can get very crufty very fast!, but I do think in-prose mentions of Peabody Awards won (not just nominated) would be a good thing to see at local TV station pages. This is my topic area, and a Peabody is one of a few national journalism awards I would mention without hesitation in a TV station article. Examples of me adding Peabody mentions in-line in station articles include WHRO-TV, KGAN, and KNXV-TV. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 02:19, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
