critique of "Soft power of China"[edit]

Hi!, I just had a read-through of your article. Very detailed and well-researched. I would add more content to the lead to summarize the main points of the entire article. I think it would also be good idea to paraphrase some of the content under your subheadings or eliminate what is not necessary. Also, remove any in-text citations that are on the page and source correctly.--Harkiret (talk) 06:40, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review for 'Soft power of China'[edit]

Hey! I reviewed your article ‘Soft power of China’. Here are some of comments:

Firstly, I want to commend you for creating a well-structured article. Your sections flow very organically. Furthermore, you seemed to have covered a nice balance of topics in a neutral manner.

I would recommend that in your beginning section, after you write China Central Television, to follow with its acronym (I’m assuming it’s CCTV?) immediately. Otherwise, readers may be confused by what CCTV stands for in your next sentence, as it’s not connected to any phrase. Likewise, do this with all other words you wish to use acronyms for.

Additionally, I thought that some of your phrasing could’ve been clearer—some parts were quite ambiguous. For example, after you introduced SARPPFT as the supervisor of CCTV—which organization are you talking about when you say that directors are organized by the government?

I think your definition of soft power is written relatively well, it was easy to understand. However, for your last sentence of the section, I think that it can be improved if you went into further detail on how the media industry is an influential power among other industries.

Probably the most important thing that you need to improve your article with are the addition of sources! It looks like your sources have not been cited yet. I noticed that you referenced to Nye under ‘Soft Power’ but it’s not cited properly according to Wikipedia guidelines. Please cite with reliable sources.

I like that you gave your topic a global outlook, this is something I definitely should apply to my own article since mine was heavily focused on North American relations. Nicolewoo (talk) 23:39, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
