Peer review of Content added to 'Crowdfunding'

This is a good addition to the article, I think it is an important aspect of crowdfunding. I am interested to see how Wikipedia users will add even more to it. There's a couple of things I would consider addressing however. The first paragraph says that stories are pitched by the audience, and they get to decide what is being reported. Also that funds from crowdsourcing go towards travel expenses or equipment. I don't believe these are universally the case. I would just make some slight changes to the wording to reflect that 'in some outlets,' the stories are decided by the funders/audience. The show I listen to, Canadaland, is crowdfunded, but otherwise the audience does not participate in decisions related to publishing. Also - I clicked on the Spot.us wikipedia link, and apparently it is a platform that is no longer active, so I would just change the references to past tense.

Aside from that, it is clear, well organized, it is written from a balanced and neutral tone, and the sources appear to be reliable. Hothamwater (talk) 20:02, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review of Crowdfunding

[edit]

The contribution of journalism as a section in the crowdfunding article is absolutely relevant. Its surprising that this wasn’t already part of the article, so good on you for making it more robust.

The dangers to journalistic integrity and objectivity that crowdfunding presents are clearly explained.

A couple of criticisms/ areas for improvement: As already mentioned, the Spot.us site is no longer. Perhaps providing an example of a crowdfunding success story that came about from one of these platforms. Might need to add more references - a little sparse A couple wordy sections that need just a touch of editing

The tone and language remains neutral and conforms to the wiki standard.

Given that the article is fairly long and is actively edited, I’m interested to see how other Wikipedian’s will respond and contribute to your work.

Good job Harkiret!! Milhouse-the-mighty (talk) 20:27, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
