June 2024[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 19:53, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

first-time Wikipedia creator here. I will absolutely change my user name to my first initial and last name listed previously - not associated with the name of the firm. I apologize - I missed that requirement when creating the account. I am employed by Bolton & Menk as a communication specialist, so I will disclose the affiliation by using the paid template upon unblocking for this page and any additional pages related to Bolton & Menk. This sandbox page is also in development - I hit publish on the sandbox solely to make sure my information saves. I will do a thorough scrub to make sure no promotional content is included on the page as this is absolutely not the intent of the page. The intent of the page is solely to spread awareness and education of the firm.

Decline reason:

What you describe is considered promotion here- Wikipedia is not a place for businesses to tell the world about themselves. Wikipedia articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject, and summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage say about (in this case) a business, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable business. The vast majority of businesses do not merit Wikipedia articles(even some which might have them, where the article has not been removed yet). Sandboxes are public(which is what "publish changes" is meant to indicate) and not immune from processes like deletion. Please see conflict of interest and paid editing. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your business. If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you want to be a more general contributor and edit about topics for which you have no conflict of interest, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:01, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"... to spread awareness and education ..." is promotion. Wikipedia only cares about what reliable, independent sources have chosen to publish about a company, to show that it meets the inclusion criteria for companies. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. If you are being directed by your superiors to write about your employer, then you should also review WP:BOSS. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 00:44, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
