FYI, I do appreciate your efforts to expand the article on Utah State Parks, the article desperately needs it. However, your expansion does appear to be directly lifted from this page http://stateparks.utah.gov/about. The terms of use for the state of Utah's website (at http://www.utah.gov/disclaimer.html ) are ambiguous about the copyright status of content from that website. As such, in my opinion, it would be better to re-write the text using that page as a source rather than doing a block copy. Cheers. Dave (talk) 16:05, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I see you have uploaded the agency's logo. This cannot be considered a free logo, as the terms of use specifically exclude logos from the free content. As such this logo needs to be removed from wikimedia commons (which is reserved for free use media only) and uploaded to wikipedia with a fair use template. For an example of how to do this see, File:UDOT_logo.png. Dave (talk) 16:21, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Bradadkins274. You have new messages at Moabdave's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Flight Park State Recreation Area, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.us-parks.com/ut/flight-park-state-recreation-area/flight-park-state-recreation-area.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) A tag has been placed on Escalante Petrified Forest State Park requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I just saw the message you left for Moabdave. His response to you was quite correct, in that work produced by the federal government is public domain, but work produced by state governments is not automatically in the public domain barring state laws which establish that. Even if you have written some or all of the content for the state website, the odds are that the copyright belongs to the State, and so we would need either permission from an authorized representative of the State (following the steps listed at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials) or a formal statement that the material is in the public domain. Alternatively, statutes and case law could establish that the material is in the public domain, but these would need to be fairly clear cut in order for us to be able to accept them (Copyright status of work by the U.S. government#State and Local Governments in Florida, California, and Minnesota touches on this briefly).

Until this situation is cleared up I'm afraid I have to remove the text from the articles you have already added it to and must ask you to not copy text into any further articles. Please let me know if you have any questions. VernoWhitney (talk) 14:59, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
