Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Bronxslicer. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Marquardtika (talk) 16:12, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information. I do not have a conflict as I am not part of the campaign I’m not paid by them. I gathered this info and asked the campaign if I can edit it (thinking that was the right things to do) and hours of work are gone. I truly did not think anything I wrote was wrong and was trying to add the citations but you and your colleagues keep deleting it before it can. I’m not sure why this is happening so I’ll keep reading more about the rules and try again. I’m just a human like you… 98.229.237.70 (talk) 02:40, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bronxslicer:: Two hints: first, when you add text to an article, you must cite a reliable source for it. Second, don't make a ton of relatively unrelated edits throughout an article and save them as one edit; rather, make smaller individual edits accompanied by clear edit summaries. PRRfan (talk) 04:37, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information. That seems like a lengthy process but will work on incremental edits with information. Thank you for your time and attention. I read more what you sent yesterday and will add an COI links if necessary 98.229.237.70 (talk) 13:20, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Due to your clear COI, you should make the edits as suggestions on the talk page, not directly on the article itself, and allow other editors to incorporate them. Canterbury Tail talk 13:24, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t know how to do that so I’ll figure that out later on. Thanks for your time at least you tried to help me and explained things more then others. 98.229.237.70 (talk) 17:40, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Promotional edits

[edit]

Hello! I am Pyramids09, a Wikipedia editor. I am here to inform you that promotional edits are not allowed. If you keep doing it, you will be blocked. Thank you, and have a nice day. Pyramids09 (talk) 17:28, 30 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

I am not paid by the campaign and am not part of the campaign. I’m a guy editing the page just like you. I truly did not know this was wrong to put information on it from gathering information from other sources for them to put on one place. I asked for permission from the campaign and they said yes. Ok so your an editor but if there is something wrong with what I am putting up then let me know what and I’ll change that but to remove all my info is wrong. I’m human like you and learning this myself. 98.229.237.70 (talk) 02:37, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Coordination with a campaign places you in a conflict of interest. Money is not the determinant of a COI, and you may not set terms for who can edit. Acroterion (talk) 12:28, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This comment suggests otherwise "Don Bolduc himself asked us to edit this page. Please stop undoing these edits. We are in the process of providing links and citations." You appear to have a very clear and promotional WP:COI in this matter and as a result really shouldn't be editing the page, but should go through the talk page for edits. Ok so let me make sure I get this straight. I can’t edit a persons page because I asked the person if I can edit it… am I correct ?
So if I want to edit let’s say another page of another person and put whatever I want on there with citations to articles without asking for permission that is allowed?
If I edit a page with citations even though they are acceptable and true and simply because I asked permissions means I have a conflict of interest?
As long as I put items that are cited and edit the page that does not include endorsements or break the other info you sent I can still edit this and any other page though correct? 98.229.237.70 (talk) 13:03, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I will add the COI on the bottom of the page where appropriate.
Thank you for the articles. I will read up more prior to proceeding 98.229.237.70 (talk) 13:06, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:INDENT for correct formatting of your talk posts otherwise it's impossible to follow your talk page entries. Additionally please login in and only use one account, using IP addresses alongside an account makes it seem you have something to hide and makes it difficult for other editors to follow.
Since you very clearly have a conflict of interest with the article subject, you said yourself the article subject asked you to make the edits, you may not edit the article sourced or otherwise. The closest you can come to editing it is going to the talk page and making a request for a change there.
Lastly you have said a couple of times "we". This implies that more than one person has access to the account and that you are edit for an on behalf of an organization, something that is prohibited by WP:ROLE as an account is only permitted to represent an individual on Wikipedia. Because of your admitted conflict of interest, you have been blocked indefinitely from editing Donald C. Bolduc. You can make properly formatted edit requests at Talk: Donald C. Bolduc. Please read the Guide to appealing blocks. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:45, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don’t understand this. You’ve blocked me from making changes to a persons page cause I asked that person for permission to do so? I’m astonished at the actions taken when I was just being nice by asking them. I don’t have time for this garbage so good luck to you all! 98.229.237.70 (talk) 17:39, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
