Nishikawa

Hey there, I saw you assessed the article Nishikawa Castle, and first, I want to say Thank you! However, I don't think the WP: Japan "B-class" becomes official until all the evaluations are filled in (y/n). I added the template, and if you could take another look at Talk:Nishikawa Castle, I'd surely appreciate it! Boneyard90 (talk) 13:06, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

C.W.A. Scott

Hi Canglesea I have asked people for their input at the peer review page about this article with the aim of then submitting it for Good or G A status but know-one has come up with any suggestions, so I am wondering if this just means no-one has had time or whether it means that no-one can think of any ways to improve the article, either way I am thinking that it may be time to put the article up for Good or G A assessment. Would you kindly let me know if you agree and if so the best way to put things in motion, cheers Jimmy3d0 (talk) 13:31, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I will take a critical look at the article this weekend; then we'll submit it for GA review . . . - Canglesea (talk) 20:51, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Somerset airfields

Thanks for tagging & assessing RNAS Charlton Horethorne (HMS Heron II) & RAF Weston-super-Mare. I've also been working on some of the other Somerset airfields over the weekend & it would be great if you could take a look at: RNAS Yeovilton (HMS Heron), Bristol (Whitchurch) Airport, Yeovil/Westland Airport, RAF Weston Zoyland, RAF Merryfield (which I think should be merged with RNAS Merryfield), RAF Culmhead and RAF Charmy Down.— Rod talk 18:12, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Charles Lindbergh Article Assessment

Please explain on what basis you have chosen to assess the Charles Lindbergh article which is almost 15,000 words long, has had over 5,000 edits by almost 1,900 users over a period of 8.5 years, includes 39 illustrations, 130 citations (footnotes), 21 external links, a bibliography of 24 books, and which had also been previously nominated as a "Good" article, to being nothing more than a "start class" article which is defined as "An article that is developing, but which is quite incomplete and, most notably, lacks adequate reliable sources." Thank you. Centpacrr (talk) 01:51, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

As you have indicated, the article meets 4 of the 5 B-Class criteria. The B1 criteria, referencing and citation, is not met as evidenced by approximately 26 "citation needed" tags. -Canglesea (talk) 02:36, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
That hardly seems to make this a "start" class article, however, as it already has 130 other citations and I dare say is longer, far more mature and complete, and much better cited than the vast majority of articles on WP. (The "citation tags", by the way, were added by the same editor who had previously nominated the article as a "good" article.) In most cases the source of the requested citation is made clear by being included in the prose of the article, or it is a continuation of already cited material appearing earlier in the same paragraph (and often the immediately preceding sentence) making most if not all of these recently added "citiation needed" tags (which also only appear in just a few of its later sections) specious at best. Either way this is clearly not a "start class" article. Centpacrr (talk) 03:49, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Well, your other choice is B-Class, which can be assigned by any reviewer. Go ahead and change it, I will not protest. Cheers. -Canglesea (talk) 04:08, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for giving the article an assessment. The results were better than I thought they'd be. However I would like some advice on how I can improve the article to bring it up to B-class status.Graham1973 (talk) 12:42, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

The article is referenced and well cited, however, it needs more than one reference to satisfy the referencing criteria (B1). Adding information from additional references should satisfy the coverage criteria (B2). The structure criteria (B3) is marginally met; a lead section summarizing the article is needed. See the 23rd Armoured Brigade (United Kingdom) for an example of an article that meets the B-Class criteria. After you develop the article further, please submit it for a B-Class review: Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/Requests Cheers -Canglesea (talk) 23:58, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. Improving the references might be tricky though. The book I have been using is heavily based on primary research. In this subject there is very little easily available information once you get past Operation Fortitude. I'm currently working on an article covering Operation Abeam, the first operation designed to insert a fake unit into the British OOB and I'm not getting much partly due to the fact that the unit in question was the 1st SAS Brigade and so you find all sorts of vague references tied in with the David Stirling Story, but not much hard detail. The account in Holt is the first real detail I've uncovered.Graham1973 (talk) 12:19, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for B-passing this article. Could you look at Battle of Byczyna, which I wrote at the same time? They share a lot of content. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 02:36, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

SS Norvarg

Why does this article fail B class criterion B3 "structure"? Mjroots (talk) 18:09, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

The history section of SS Norvarg is a bit long (4-5 pages). I suggest some sub-sections, perhaps by date? -Canglesea (talk) 21:31, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
