No problem - you db-person-ed it just as I userfied it. It has happened to me before. Actually, I am beginning to think that userfying little bits of autobiography by new users rather than db-ing them, though friendly, is a waste of time. I checked back on 25 who I had userfied like that and left messages welcoming and explaining, and one of them thanked me and made a few more edits, the other 24 never edited again. I guess what they were looking for was a social-networking site, and once they realised WP wasn't that they lost interest. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:54, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Wonder what I did to tick that guy off...? Besides, isn't "Tony Stark" the real name of "Iron Man?" If he built a robot, he did it in his head or in his dreams after reading one too many Marvel comics.  :) As for my hobbies, I have quite a few outside of this site, believe me. Check my log - they should have moved, but the server often takes some time to reattribute them, especially when we rename larger accounts, like your's. Give it 24 hours and if they're not where they should be, drop me a line again. --Dweller (talk) 11:31, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Here. You have 55K edits - that'll take quite some time to move. I'm more concerned I caught all your userspace than the edits being reattributed. --Dweller (talk) 11:33, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I am curious about the opt-out on autosign.

sinebot's sigs are ugly, but I always dig into the edit log and see who I am talking to if the post isn't signed, which makes me use bad language, and then the cat laughs at me. I am interested to know why not having sinebot (besides the ugly-sig thing?) is desirable? NP if you don't say, of course, I just spotted the opt-out and was overtaken by curiosity. :) All the best, and thanks for zapping the vandalwarning on Chasingsol, it certainly wasn't deserved.sinneed (talk) 18:46, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I just don't like being spied upon by a bot :) If you click the edit tab on the top of this page you will see I have totally banned SineBot from this page by adding the {{Bots}} template - I have had multiple edit conflicts with this bot in the past while replying to anonymous IPs who didn't sign their posts;just hated it. Actually .... what i added about brook is correct, it was there before, but was removed.. i dont know why. Also i cant provide a CITE, but i am 100% sure about that, in episode 338 When Luffy, Sanji & Nami check out the "Ghost Ship" they meet Brook for the first time, there he asks Nami to allow him to see her panties, to which he gets a kick to his head. Secondly in episode 339 when Brook comes on Thousand Sunny, he talks to everyone, and when he sees Nico Robin He asks the same question and gets a boot from Nami.

external links deleted

I noticed that "viralZone" links I added to virus pages have been deleted. This is a pity, because the links are pointing to an public academic database developed at the University of Geneva (switzerland and financed by public funds, including a NIH grant. Is it possible to add these links to wikipedia virus pages, or shall we abandon? I did not add links in order to spam anything, beut there are 291 known viral genera, so this could look like a spam when adding links and modifications to all relative pages.

I also updated some "unassigned" families, like endornavirus which are belonging now to endornaviridae, but these informations were deleted too!

Vandal warnings

Please do not add first, second, and final warnings at the same time as you did here and then report the user to AIV. A warning only serves it's purpose if the user has to time to read it and react to it. I'm not blocking the user because since the warning there has been no activity, and by reporting it to AIV before seeing if the warning had time to take effect you waste an admin's time. Incidentally I think there's a good chance the links in question were legitimate though it did look like a spam campaign.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 10:29, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

The links were added very rapidly so I reverted all of them with huggle and user received warnings with as much speed. The link addition was probably legitimate, I'll drop a note on their talk. –Capricorn42 (talk) 10:32, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm already working on it so don't worry.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 10:33, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your note on the users page. Also I don't use Huggle (never got beyond Twinkle) but if it drops three escalating warnings on a user talk page in the space of a minute and then reports the user to AIV there's nothing good about that. Premature AIV reports don't save anyone any time and in fact are a big time waster. Just my two cents.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 10:41, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Unconstructive post?

I was just wondering why stating the Frank Houston was a pedophile was removed when in 2000 he was advised to resign his ministerial credentials by his own son, Brian Houston the National President of the Assemblies of God in Australia, after Houston confessed the sexual abuse of young male members of the congregation, living in Hillsong-owned accommodation until his death in 2004.

If someones father was Bin Laden you would say "known terrorist Bin Laden". Former race car driver, famous poet, etc. Brian's father had sex with little boys, what compels people to cover this fact up?

I will revert it until you show me exactly why it should not be stated. 121.218.88.246 (talk) 12:57, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey there. You recently tageed Yougottacall for SD written by User:Timtracey, who mentions himself in the article (Tim Tracey). I've never done it before, so I was wondering if there should be some sort of blocking for him, and if so, what the procedure for it is. Thanks! BobAmnertiopsisChatMe! 15:35, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Tim Tracey is probably their real name, I don't think blocking is justified at all. However a COI note on their talk page is necessary to inform the user about the policies. If the username was "Yougottacall" or something similar then it would've been a spamusername. Such reports are dealt with at WP:UAA. –Capricorn42 (talk) 15:40, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Sweet Endeavours

Thank you for the feedback on whether Sweet Endeavours is notable enough to have a Wikipedia subcategory article under the category of chocolatiers. The company that I was referring to is not sweetendeavours.com, which you had mentioned in your response. The official Web site of Sweet Endeavours is www.chocolatines.com. Also, you can find at least five articles (e.g., Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, L.A. Times, etc.) concerning Sweet Endeavours and its Chocolatines line.

Does this new information change your perspective as to the notability of Sweet Endeavours (chocolatines.com)? Thank you!

you do good work

I noticed you doing a lot of nice stuff at help and references desk type of places. If you're not into this kind of stuff, just delete. <barnstar>

IP address impersonation

Looks like I spoke too soon, eh? From this diff it appears that User:Anirban16Chatterjee may be directly involved in this mess. Can you check if his IP matches User_talk:117.201.96.78User_talk:117.201.96.68? -- 74.137.108.115 (talk) 10:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure it is related, that's why I asked the IP[1] not to log out to edit if he already has an account. My opinion is that we leave the issue here, if the user does that again it would be the time to submit an WP:SSP. Sorry I snipped a part of your comment as a courtesy to the user but put it back if you want. –Capricorn42 (talk) 11:54, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for forgetting the sources

Here you go: [2] [3] [4] "[Windows 7], it's Windows Vista, a lot better," said Ballmer during a 45-minute question-and-answer session hosted by a pair of Gartner Inc. analysts at the research firm's annual Symposium ITxpo in Orlando today. The interview was later posted as a webcast on the Gartner site. [5] Whytehorse1413 (talk) 12:57, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Speculations, not an official statement from Microsoft. Please Wikipedia is not a soapboxCapricorn42 (talk) 12:59, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

So a statement by the CEO of Microsoft is speculation? Seriously, are you employed by Microsoft directly or indirectly?Whytehorse1413 (talk) 13:41, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm a Linux user who doesn't hate Microsoft or Apple. You are interpreting Ballmer's words incorrectly. If you read that article again, you will find this para where he clearly states that Windows 7 will be a major release.

[6]

Your words: " If this is the exact same horrible OS, people should know" clearly indecate your anti-MS POV. Please stop it. The sources you brought here are contradicting your own assertion. –Capricorn42 (talk) 13:48, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

If you keep reading, you will also see:

Neutrality aside, Vista was a horrible OS and that's a fact, not just my opinion. I leave you to dissect millions of expert reports for sourcesWhytehorse1413 (talk) 14:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Those are not Ballmer's words, its the author of the story saying that and then too, nowhere in the quote did the author say that Windows 7 is really a minor update; he is trying to "map" something in the last sentence.(Gregg Keizer's original research, speculation, prediction?)
Please keep your opinions to yourself. WP:STICK applies now, if you want to further debate this then go to Talk:Windows 7 to get another audience. I have some other, more productive work to do. Bye.–Capricorn42 (talk) 14:24, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Hello,

You've stated that the article I've written reads like an advertisement. I've added factual information about our company - which part makes it sound like an advert so that I can correct it? I don't want anyone to think we're using wikipedia for advertising.

Servevast Ltd

Mynameispritch (talk)

I saw the very big logo of the company at the top of the article, pictures of refrigerators etc. so I tagged it {{advert}}. (as it looked more like a business brochure than Wikipedia article)
FYI: You say that its your company, so you have a conflict of interest. Creating and editing articles related to you or your company is discouraged but not forbidden. Somebody has tagged it for deletion now, due to notability concerns, but in case the article is not deleted, please keep the COI guideline in mind before editing the article. –Capricorn42 (talk) 15:45, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

what's the deal?

dude, what's the deal? why do people keep deleting my link??? i posted somethin already in the talk section, stating the specific guideline that applies directly to my site... this joe schmo big toe... people take one at the hand written material and assume i couldn't design graphics or something... totally miss the point... this is legit... like for dummies type legit... i dont know to much about wiki-politics, but what's it take to keep that thing posted? Joshebosh (talk) 06:39, 27 January 2009 (UTC) http://htmlalphabet.com

The HTML article already has a lot of links. See WP:EL & WP:NOT, Wikipedia is not a collection of links. Its good that you have posted on the talk page of the article, now let the other regular contributors watching that page decide whether or not your link will improve the article - that is if it provides anything beneficial that is not already covered in the article or the present external links. Your link was once reviewed and removed by an editor here.
Also see WP:COI - you are discouraged to be editing/introducing anything related to you or your work. –Capricorn42 (talk) 06:51, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Excuse me!

Sorry to disturb you Sir, but yesterday (in our time) I again noticed that the charge of sockpuppetry has been brought against me on my talk page. And there, you further wrote that, you left a message on my IP talk page on the issue as some warning. But I did not receive a single message from you on my IP talk page. I am sorry for editing the signatures of the Sinebot on multiple issues, but that I've explained on my talk page. Now, to prove that my IP address is different from the one, I am logging out to edit. Anirban16chatterjee (talk) 05:25, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Now I am logged out and I am reediting the page. You can see that my IP address resembles that of the person, but mine one is not the same as his one. Further, you may check out the talk page of my IP address to find out whether any message from you came on the particular day or not as warning. And, for the first time, I did not protest in any kind of way, because I did not have any proof of supporting myself. I hope you can check out from my IP address that I am the person are not the same. (Although mine one resembles his, please take a closer look to find that they are different finally). 117.201.98.22 (talk) 05:32, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Please. You have a dynamic IP and the message I left you can be seen here. You might not be aware of the policies, see WP:SOCK and WP:CHECKUSER and stop creating new accounts. The whole point was to stop you from socking and disrupting RD/C. Don't deny it, just get real and start contributing constructively without creating dramaz. –Capricorn42 (talk) 06:57, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

So, shall I consider the matter to be ended herein? (I still don't understand everything but promise not to alter the signs of Sinebots in the future). Anirban16chatterjee (talk) 08:29, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

re: edits

Hi!

I have noticed you have been noticing my edits and changing them

Why may I ask?

Everything I have put down, while it may be heresay, is as historically accurate as the works of Herodotus, which were also heresay.

Kind Regards,

Hi, Cap, thanks. It was a combination of frustration that this user seemed to be on a mission, then on a roll, and no way could I avoid giving the attention it was after. Sheesh. :| I'll take a couple of breaths and, you never know... :) Julia Rossi (talk) 06:10, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Oka-ay, I've got the little popup xfd box going, but stuck at the no-include wrap thingy and have a question about the reason: is it enough to say it's about non-notable Indian saint and full of redlink support? To my surprise, his article is now getting support at the delete discussion page. I can;t believe it, can socks be revealed in that context, or would that give them even more sympathy? Julia Rossi (talk) 20:42, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the update saint Cap, likewise, :\. The entertainment was that he used other non-notable "saints" to be socks of each other in the article. Oh well, saint Julia Rossi (talk) 02:31, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Resolve to Evolve Scholarship deleted

Hello, Will you please explain to me why my entry (which I was still in the process of editing) was deleted? I saw something about "soapboxing" or "promotion", but I don't feel that is a fair depiction of this entry. I am publishing information about a unique scholarship created by my company, one which offers thousands of dollars to aspiring college students each year. Will you please help me understand why web content is off limits or seems to be? I have found many entries in wikipedia that "promote" websites over the years. For example, Heather Armstrong, who pays her bills with advertising on her website:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dooce

How is this not promoting her site? I realize it is not the intention, but it does, in the end, promote her site, which, in turn, pays her bills. And she's not offering thousands of dollars to prospective students. Please advise. Thanks, Kevin

chicagoscholar Chicagoscholar (talk) 17:37, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi, the article you created was deleted because it didn't assert the notability of the scholarship website, and was mildly promotional, as you said yourself, you work for that company (see WP:COI). Dooce's article is there because she appears to be notable —CNN and BBC have written about her. If you want to create that article you will have to show how the subject is notable; notability is not measured by how many thousand dollars they are offering to students, its determined by reliable sources. So try to add as many secondary sources you can to the article. –Capricorn42 (talk) 17:50, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Much Appreciated

Hello Capricorn42, Thank you for the insight. I understand your concern and appreciate your efforts here. We have been mentioned by many news outlets over the years and I will be sure to reference them in the next iteration. Also, we have a list of all the scholars who benefited from the scholarship over the last three years. I will get the complete article up-front and publish it all at once this time. My intention last time was to come back when I had the remaining info and publish it, but I didn't get the chance. Thanks again. Kevin

Hello Capricorn42, Should I create a new page or update the existing one? I am also considering creating a separate page with just the history and pertinent information about Scholarships.com. Please advise. Thanks, Kevin Chicagoscholar (talk) 19:24, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Kinda vaguely - I've tried to pull away from that some as the situation became a little more unclear, and I don't think the sockpuppetry/block evasion is entirely intentional. His service provider jumps around too much, to the point we'd need to hardblock a few /16 (really big) IP ranges, which I don't see as worth it. I'll keep an eye on it, though. There seems to be nothing on your page, so I decided to leave something on your page to add one. When most people's talk pages are blank, I add one to turn the nothing into one message. Parappa665 (talk) 18:54, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
