Regarding CVUA

Hello, I was just wandering around the Counter Vandalism Unit and saw that Wikipedia offers graduation course on Counter Vandalism. In the list of available trainers, you happen to have a slot open for one student. I'll be happy if you take me as your student.

Thanking you,

AbhiMukh97(Speak)(Contribs) 11:32, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

AbhiMukh97, Greetings. Thank you for interested in counter vandalism. Pls have a look the "Goals" and "Syllabus" sections below to understand the requirements needed at the end of the course in order to graduate from CVSCHOOL.

Goals

If you're new and/or inexperienced, before embarking on a Counter-Vandalism training programme, you should be able to demonstrate that you have already mastered the basic principles of editing the encyclopedia and contributed at least 200 edits to MAINSPACE. If you have previously been warned or requested to follow guidelines, you should have demonstrated that you have addressed these issues.

When you have shown through training that you have mastered the principles of Counter-Vandalism and can apply them with accuracy, and can communicate correctly and effectively with new users of all kinds you may be able to apply for permission to use restricted tools, such as, for example Rollback, and STiki that will enable you to semi-automate the process, while understanding that speed alone is not essential - the target is accuracy. When you have achieved these goals, you can display the {{User CVU0-en}} userbox on your user page.

Syllabus

Able to correctly define and describe:

  • Cannot describe these concepts at a comprehensible level.
  • Unable to differentiate the difference between vandalism and good faith edits

  • Can describe the proper use of warning templates and how to correctly make an AIV submission.

  • Cannot consistently revert vandalized pages correctly.
  • Is inconsistent in use of warning on user talk pages or uses incorrect warning templates
  • Has reverted fewer than 50 instances of vandalism in the two weeks prior to graduation – or – has reverted more than 50 instances of vandalism with a high degree of incorrect reversions.

  • Consistently leaves the correct messages on vandal’s talk page explaining the reversion, and is able to further explain the vandal their reasoning behind the reversion if prompted.
  • Has accurately reverted at least 50 instances of vandalism in the two weeks prior to graduation.

Please note that there are many editors who were interested in counter vandalism course and abundant the program mid way due to lack of anticipation of the amount of efforts/time needed in reading the program material, doing assigned "homework" and exams requirements . The program has no timeline set, as the editor would progress through the course work at their own time. Generally, it would take an editor 1.5-2 months to finish the course. So do prepare yourself for lots of reading and homework if you intend to proceed with the program and do let me know the reason for interested in this program. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 12:10, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. I'll be more than happy to be a part of this academy and willing to start the program. The reason for my interest includes my urge to know Wikipedia better and to improve it efficiently; this will also help me on my communication skills. I think it will be my pleasure if I can be a part of the counter vandalism unit. Thanks again, AbhiMukh97(Speak)(Contribs) 12:12, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi AbhiMukh97Good day. I set up assignment 1 for you HERE. Please make sure you enable WP:Twinkle and know how to provide hist diff - see here Wikipedia:Simplest diff guide. Once you have done the assignment and would like to get it review then ping me on the sub page (at the end of the assignment). I will usually review the assignment a day after you ping me. Do raise any questions after review if there are any, if not and you are ready to proceed to next assignment then let me know and I will post it accordingly. One thing to note - very important - Do NOT revert more than 3 times within 24 hours on the same page if the edit you reverted are NOT considered blatantly vandalism for you will be blocked. Please bear in mind. Welcome to CUVA. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 12:23, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Brogo13, Good day. The changes of the wording for WP:Notability (people) page has gone through many rounds of discussions to ensure wording is right to serve as the guidelines. Any changes of the wording should be discussed in the talk page - see Wikipedia talk:Notability (people). If consensus agrees of the changes than they will be published. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 06:03, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Hello. Right now, CASSIOPEIA/CVUA/AbhiMukh97 is definitely a page in mainspace (and should not be there) (and seems like it's supposed to be in your userspace at User:CASSIOPEIA/CVUA/AbhiMukh97). As far as I know (and according to two information pages I found), the mainspace is supposed to be used for articles, redirects and disambiguation pages (and the Main Page), and not for collaboration with other users. Edible Melon (talk) 03:11, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi Edible Melon Oh yes, you are right, I somehow forgot to place "User:" in the beginning. Apologies and thank you for informing. I have moved page accordingly. Thank you again. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:48, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Usama00722 It seems Pakistan has a very complected system as compare to other country under WP:CRIN, the article would most likely to vote keep by editors. The AfD tag will be removed by next week and all is good by then. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 12:03, 17 August 2019 (UTC)

Usama00722 Hi, within one / two days the AfD tag will be removed. Google will index the article (so we could find the article in Google search) after the article in the mainspace (next 2 days); however, it will be up to Google when they do the indexing which we have no control. From my experience, Google will index Wikipedia articles within a week after they are in mainspace. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 11:31, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

DEG Methodology article

Hi Cassiopeia, I am still writing this page. It is a relatively long article and I just finished writing and editing in MS Word. Please allow till end of the day for page content update, with full list of citations. The sources already cited are independent and a few of them are considered among the most reliable sources in Advanced Thermodynamics.

Isentrop (talk) 12:21, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Isentrop Hi Greetings. I am not hurrying you :). I saw you article moved to draft page due to no sources are provided so I left you a message to let you know what are needed. Take your time, Wikipedia will only delete the draft article 6 months after the last edit unless the article (1) deem advertising and (2) violation of copyright infringement (need to write the article in your own words). Let me know if anything else I could help. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk)
I see. Thanks for the additional info. Indeed I didn't mean to submit the article yet, but I was unable to move it back to draft myself so I figured an editor would do it. All good. I'll continue to update the article with content and submit once ready. Much appreciated.

Jkshrews, Hi Greetings. A few house keeping before I answer you question. (1) when you reply a message, pls write the message a the bottom instead on the top, so we could follow the message thread. (2) When you write a message, add an extra ":" (means 1 space to the right indentation) before you start writing. So if you are the one who start the message, then no ":" is needed. If the previous message has ":::" then you start you message with ":::: Hi, I am considering.....". (3) Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). at the end of you message. OK now back to you question. In Wikipedia the convention title guidelines for "list article" needs to start with "List of xxxxxxxxx xxx xxxxx". So it is not advisable for you place the word "list" at the end. Have a good day and let me know if anything else I could help. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:11, 22 August 2019 (UTC)

Request for review of National University Heart Centre, Singapore

Hi, could you please review Draft:National University Heart Centre, Singapore as I have resubmitted it for review at AfC? Thank you.--Officer781 (talk) 13:05, 22 August 2019 (UTC)

Officer781 Greetings. Sources provide are related/associated with the subject for such they are deemed not independent. Stand alone article content needs to support by significant coverage by independent, WP:Reliable source (such as newspaper) where by the subject is talked about in lenght and dept and not merely passing mentioned. - see WP:GODLENRULE. Do suggest sourced content (only source content) to merge to National University Health System. thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 03:56, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
@CASSIOPEIA: I have already included the newspaper article The Straits Times (the national newspaper of Singapore), as seen for this one: [4]. Moreover, as you can see in this article: List of hospitals in Singapore, all of the other National Specialty Centres already have an article on their own, many of which do not even have one newspaper article reference. To have an exception only for this specific one is not consistent. National Specialty Centres are actually specialized hospitals in Singapore catering to particular classes of medical conditions. If you do not trust that list, [5] this is a list of all the hospitals and national specialty centres and as you can see my proposed article is one of them. The three National Specialty Centres that have "National University" in their title (including National University Cancer Institute, Singapore and National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore, which already have their own articles) are managed as subsets of National University Health System which is a group of hospitals, indicating their status as independent entities. Could you explain to me the rationale for notability in more detail please, specifically why this should not deserve its own article when 8 other national specialty centres already have theirs? Thank you.--Officer781 (talk) 04:37, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
Officer781 the see here for notability guidelines, and I have mentioned what are needed for WP:Content policy guidelines in the draft comment section as well as added this WP:GOLDENRULE link. the newspaper source is talking about the patient and doctor interview and not really "directly" talk about the subject it self. Moreover, interviews are considered primary source with makes it not independent. The other 2 article do not have enough independent reliable source to back up what is needed and would suggest all 2 article and 1 draft to be merged. (merge does not mean the 3 entity have to managed by the same management in Wikipedia but about relation of the subjects. cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:55, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
@CASSIOPEIA: Then how about the other articles as seen in the table:
National specialty centre Healthcare cluster
National Cancer Centre Singapore SingHealth
National Dental Centre Singapore SingHealth
National Heart Centre Singapore SingHealth
National Neuroscience Institute SingHealth
National Skin Centre National Healthcare Group
National University Cancer Institute, Singapore National University Health System
National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore National University Health System
National University Heart Centre, Singapore National University Health System
Singapore National Eye Centre SingHealth
A number of them lack notable references as well. Should all of them be merged?--Officer781 (talk) 04:58, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
Officer781If you want them to merge, then tag them. We have about 1 million out of 5.2 millions articles are in poor quality in Wikipedia. They are either to be improved by interested editors to establish the notability and it they can article will nominate for deletion by interested editors no matter how long they have existed in Wikipedia if the notability could not established. See WP:OTHERS. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:06, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
@CASSIOPEIA: Alright, I have brought up the matter of merging the articles with the relevant WikiProject talk page. Will see how the discussion goes. I will get back here if there are relevant decisions.--Officer781 (talk) 05:33, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
@CASSIOPEIA: The relevant merger discussion is now at Talk:Healthcare_in_Singapore#Merger_proposal. I have placed the discussion at a neutral talk page so as to be able to list all the pages to be merged in one place--Officer781 (talk) 12:41, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Your Suggestions

Hey CASSIOPEIA,

After getting help from you and also two other Wikipedia editors in the live chat room, I made significant improvements to the article that I posted. It was an article that you removed because I didn't cite it properly the first time I put it online.

I think I have a better understanding of everything now and how to provide quality links at the bottom to news sources that corroborate the details in the article. I've since edited other articles and posted a new article about a circus that's similar to Cirque du Soleil, but weirder. That article wasn't removed, so I can also assume I'm getting better at understanding things.

Anyway, I did a bunch more research and cited maybe another 10 or 15 news sources for the first article that I created. If everything is okay, I was hoping you could take a look and approve it or let me know if there's any other information that I should provide...

Thanks, Bill

MysticKnights Good to know that you have improved the article. Pls note press releases of the subject performances can not be contribute to the notability requirements. However, you have added a few more sources which help the meet the requirement. Review  Done. Thank you for your contribution and happy editing. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 04:18, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA Thanks for adding the article. I've made note of your comment about press releases and I'll avoid using them in the future. I didn't know about the article grades, so that's the next thing that I want to learn about. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. MysticKnights(talk) 04:55, 23 August 2019 (UTC)
MysticKnights Greetings. Just to add additional notes, primary sources (not independent) could be used for supplementing of information but they can NOT be used to contribution to the notability requirements. In other words, find secondary, reliable sources first to make sure you have a min of 3-5 to meet the requirements. Lastly, there are many notability requirements which dependent on the subject, for example a notability requirements for a actor is different from a politician and etc. You can find the info on the left panel of notability page. If you have any questions, let me know. I am here to help. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 12:06, 23 August 2019 (UTC)

Awards of Angel Locsin

CASSIOPEIA(talk) it's quite unfair what you did to my newly created page. there are a lot of celebrity page here like Marian Rivera who does not have any single links for their articles.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Awards_of_Angel_Locsin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Beyhiveboys (talkcontribs) 13:52, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Beyhiveboys Greetings. content of the articles need to be supported by sources and the editor who input the info is responsible to provide source for verification - see WP:PROVEIT. There are about 1 million articles are low quality - see WP:OTHERS, in WN Wikipedia and interested editors will either improve them or for those that do not pass the notability guidelines will eventually be nominated for deletion no matter how long it has been existed in Wikipedia. I believe you have received message by now by other reviewer that you article has been rejected due to a similar article has already existed in EN Wikipedia - Angel Locsin. You can add the missing info into Angel Locsin page. thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:32, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA I already put links in every awards I put on that page. That page is needed since the awards listed under her own page are incomplete and only based on her acting awards but there are way too many awards since she won that I put on that page. I added the awards into Angel Locsin page but someone deleted that.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Beyhiveboys (talkcontribs) 22:00, August 29, 2019 (UTC)
Beyhiveboys Good day. The "someone" is one of the reviewers in Wikipedia and they rejected the draft but not deleted it. If the award listed is incomplete then add what is missing into the page. Do note we dont list all the awards in Wikipedia just some important ones as Wikipedia is not a collection of WP:NOTREPOSITORY or WP:NOTDIRECTORY and Angel Locsin is only 34 years old, maybe when she is senior citizen, she might have many important/notable awards to list them on another page.Thank you. Pls keep discussion in place next time and not multiple places (AfC help desk, your talk page, and my talk page) and Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~).. Hi, I was just wondering why I couldn't create a stub article? Do I have to submit a stub article somewhere else?

Cnav495 (talk) 03:52, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Cnav495 Greetings. The declined of the draft is not because it is a stub. Either a draft is a stub of full article the submission is the same process and via Article for Creation. The reasons have stated in the grey panel texts and link atop of the draft page. Pls read them and check out notability requirement. pop back here if you have any questions after you have read them. Also pls see WP:GOLDENRULE and for inline citation (source) pls see referencing. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 11:17, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Hey Cassiopeia Draft:Kapuhuna

Hi Cassiopeia, I don't understand? The reasoning you gave for not accepting my page doesn't apply. The given links reference articles on Wikipedia itself. To say that the reference links are not qualified as suitable due to being not "reliable", or being a "secondary source .. independent of the subject" - is to say that those published Wikipedia pages are not reliable - literally as those are the references used - and is to say those logically, those articles should be taken down, since they are deemed unreliable. Zero1Sky (talk) 09:13, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Zero1Sky Good day. First of all there are no references provided in the draft page. Secondly if the content claimed to be supported by the source - then reader "should" read to source to make sure content in wikipedia is as per source. since anyone would edit Wikipedia, and if the content is per content claimed and some editor (say editor A) vandalize the content, then the content is not as per source (even if the source info still in the inline citation). In other words, reader always need to read the source for the content accuracy - so Dont trust Wikipedia, but read the sources. Interested editor could and encourage to change the content to reflect a per source. Any content wihtout source can be removed and remember to state in the edit summary "remove - not source provided. For poor quality articles, we have about 1 million out of 5.4 million in English Wikipedia, they either be improved by interested editors or they will be nominated for article for deletion if the article is not notable not matter how long it has been existed in Wikipedia. Do remember, Wikipedia is a project by volunteers and editors around the world are working 24/7 to improve the quality of the articles; however, we have aslo a small percentage of whom vandalise the article and provide info with sources. Lastly, Wikipedia is not a dictionary - see WP:NOT#DICTIONARY. thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 11:32, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi CASSIOPEIA, When you have some time, please review my above-referenced article, for compatibility of writing format with Wikipedia style. Given my involvement with the research work, I am considering adding a "UserCOI" or "connected contributor" conflict of interest template to the top of the article. Would that be enough to keep the article as is, or do I need to re-word some of it for more perceived neutrality. Everything stated in the article comes from published textbooks, peer-review journals and PhD thesis, and I've cited all relevant documents. What are your recommendations, as I would like to submit the article for official review soon. Also, I was unable to make the "further reading" list look like the "references" list. Perhaps there is a template for it I'm unaware of? Thank you very much for your assistance. Isentrop (talk) 21:11, 26 August 2019 (UTC)

Isentrop Greetings. Your draft page has been deleted due to copyright infringement (copyvio) - see - here. Please note Wikipedia takes copyvio very seriously as it entails legal implications. You can get the draft copy from WP:REFUND and do mention the name of the draft, the admin who deleted the draft and the date of the deletion. Once you get the draft back, pls copy it to your note pad (as a copy of your own) and delete the contain from the draft immediate before it get deleted again. Pls note: (1) You need to write the article in your own words. (2) the content need to write in a neutral point of view. (3) Content need to be supported by sources for verification. (4) We need independent reliable sources in significant coverage of the content claimed - sources from major newspapers and books are good sources. (5) You need to declare your conflict of interest on (i) your user page and (ii) the article talk page. (6) No WP:Original Research is allowed. Let me know if anything I could help. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 13:38, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA, Thank you for the points. I will look into this as soon as possible. Isentrop (talk) 06:29, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Isentrop, 2 more things. Sorry, I meant copy it to note and not Microsoft word. Once you got the WP:REFUND (the copy of the draft), paste the title Draft:Degradation-entropy generation methodology into copyvio tool and submit. It will show you where/what section of the text against the sources where there is a copyright infringement. Note proper name, name of a document, quote and etc do not considered copyvio. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 06:52, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA, OK. Thanks. Will do. I already requested the WP:REFUND, but haven't received any response yet. Any idea how long this takes? Isentrop (talk) 00:13, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
Isentrop, Usually within 24 hours. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 07:33, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA, I was unable to retrieve the deleted document, and I've decided it is not worth my time to start all over. However, I have some personal files already uploaded I'd like to delete permanently from Wikipedia. Can you please help me delete these files and my Wikipedia account? Thanks. Isentrop (talk) 09:25, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

Isentrop, Greetings. (1) I understand you might not know this so I here to inform, I have restored your deletion message on Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. The information there and any talk page, except yours, can not be deleted for it will considered a vandalism of deletion unless it is violate some extremely derogatory message/terms where the edit(s) will be removed from public view. So pls do not remove it again. ( (2) I have sent link to you on your talk page if you wan to achieve your talk page instead of deletion of the content. (3) I also noted that your WP:REFUND was declined due to the content of the draft was in violation copyvio infringement. Do note you dont need to write the complete article for the article to be published as long as the subject is notable and the content could be verified by significant coverage by independent, reliable sources for Wikipedia article is allowed to start as stubs and slowly grow into well-written, comprehensive articles with time. (4) You could go to Wikipedia:Files for discussion for file deletion request. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:10, 2 September 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your help; I was attempting to remove ALL my content from Wikipedia, given it has not been worth the effort for me. I put significant effort and time into that article but it was deleted without an opportunity for me to fix the small portions that had issues. If I wanted it to be a stub, I would have posted a stub and submitted it for review. But I already spent days writing it, then formatting with Wiki markup, including several citations and figures. I want it to be a full article, so I can forget about it and move on to something else. There are several other platforms I can publish the article on. Publishing it on Wikipedia was not my original idea anyway, and this experience shows that it is not the right platform for this. Thanks again for your help, but I'd like my account and all my content deleted. Isentrop (talk) 10:19, 2 September 2019 (UTC)

List of Marvel Comics publications (J–R)

Hey there, you deleted and moved my article List of Marvel Comics publications (J–R) to draft space. I didn't so much create this article, as split it off from two existing articles, List of Marvel Comics publications (A-M), and List of Marvel Comics publications (N-Z). I split those two previous articles into three because they were getting too long and unwieldy. These are the other two, new associated articles:

List of Marvel Comics publications (A–I)

List of Marvel Comics publications (S–Z)

I simply re-titled/moved those pages, so they still contain the history for (A-M) and (N-Z), where you can see the info I got for the (J-R) page.

I didn't add or remove any info to/from the article. You deleted it because it didn't contain enough sources/references, but it didn't contain any sources/references when it was a part of those two previous lists.

I restored the List of Marvel Comics publications (J–R) that you deleted, since the other two parts of the list don't make sense without the middle part of the list.Wilkinswontkins (talk) 14:47, 29 August 2019 (UTC)

Wilkinswontkins Greetings. Since thee is a discussion at User talk:Whispering, I will response there to keep the discussion in one place. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:02, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi, CASSIOPEIA. I had a further question for you regarding the lists, which I asked on Whispering's talk page, if you can please answer there. Thank you. Wilkinswontkins (talk) 11:54, 30 August 2019 (UTC)
