Miss Universe 2024

[edit]

Good day, this is regarding your recent edits on Miss Universe 2024. I get that you're trying to contribute, but you're actually making the article worse by adding too much details, and by modifying the information that's not to your agreement, which includes removing reliable references. Note that this counts as disruptive behavior and may cause your account to get suspended. For more info regarding this wiki rule see WP:GF.

And regarding your usage of Instagram as sources, while it is okay to use it as source of proof, it is not okay to use it as the sole basis on WP:V since Instagram like most social media sites are not considered reliable sites for references and citations. Try to practice searching the web for news articles.

I hope you take these advices well for a better contribution to Wikipedia. Milesq (talk) 02:57, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Catia108 In regards to this, please stop adding MissUUpdates from Instagram as your source for information in the references. They are not affiliated with Miss Universe, and therefore is not a good source of information regardless if it is accurate since they are a pageant blog. For more information check Wikipedia:WikiProject Beauty Pageants/Sources for guidelines on how to use Instagram as a reference properly. Milesq (talk) 12:06, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Naming conventions in Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi, please be aware of the naming rules that Wikipedia imposes regarding the names of countries as per WP:COMMONNAME. This means whatever name the organization (even the likes of United Nations) uses for that country, the common name for that country found in news articles will be followed by Wikipedia, and as such by all articles.

This also why South Korea is used rather than Korea and United States instead of USA despite it being the ones used by MUO. So please, stop changing Turkey to Türkiye; DRC to Congo-Kinshasa, and Fiji to Rep. of Fiji. Sticking to what the pageant uses does not mean being encyclopedic. The article is not only for pageant fans.

Please refrain from making further unencyclopedic changes that may result you in being banned. This is just helpful advice if you want to keep editing. Milesq (talk) 16:48, 15 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

References

[edit]

You keep on using unreliable sources for information (Angelopedia, MissUUpdates) despite knowing well they are blacklisted on Wikipedia's source list, and you are vandalizing the page more than you think you're helping. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Beauty Pageants/Sources to PROPERLY find sources and not rely on blogs and Instagram pages. Milesq (talk) 09:07, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Miss Universe 2024, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please note that Wikipedia has it's own standards which may not be the same as your's. Editing Miss Universe etc

[edit]

Hello Catia108

I have undone your most recent edit, as Instagram is NOT a reliable source for referencing, as you’ve been told on numerous occasions, by other users. If you keep using unreliable sources, you do face your account being suspended or even deleted.

I urge you to search for PROPER references to cite in your edits and to please read any instructions that may be listed at the top of the applicable editing area.

If you have any queries, please reach out to an Administrator.

Best wishes

I don't think this user will be listening to any of our advices as they kept adding unreliable references again on Miss Universe 2024. @Catia108 Once again, STOP using MissUUpdates as reference or you might be no longer able to edit in Wikipedia. Thank you. Milesq (talk) 13:16, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It’s sad as I see they did it again earlier! How do we get them to stop or bar them from editing for a while?
Cheers! Heidi bradshaw (talk) 22:27, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
CATIA108 - please stop using pageant forums for links of results on Miss Universe etc. They are NOT reliable sources! You have been warned time and time again! Any further episodes of this and you risk being banned from Wikipedia.

Sources for beauty pageants

[edit]

Hi, please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:WikiProject Beauty Pageants/Sources, as this will prevent the removal of your edits. Pageant circle is not a valid source for a reference for turks & caicos in Miss Universe 2024. Please also familiarise yourself with Help:Introduction to referencing/Reliable sources and if needed Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Thanks. Sciencefish (talk) 12:46, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sciencefish
Unfortunately, Catia108 does NOT listen or heed anyone’s advice on sources for pageant information. She just does not get it. Could you tell me how we report a user for using incorrect sources etc? Many thanks Heidi bradshaw (talk) 16:00, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You begin by issuing warnings, see Wikipedia:WikiProject User warnings, taking into account Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers. Sciencefish (talk) 16:56, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. You have consistently been informed time and time again to not use pageant forums as sources yet you refuse to take action on the mistakes other editors have been reminding you, I get you want to contribute to pageantry articles here but at least try to take account Wikipedia guidelines and read them thoroughly. I had to remove a link to Instagram, for announcing Miss Universe Cambodia date, as it just took me to my landing page on Instagram.
I see this person has been told many times not to use Instagram, for sourcing, but still they do it.

Miss Universe Armenia 2024

Catia108

Again you’ve used an unreliable Instagram source for this pageant and upon clicking it, it takes you to a ‘cannot load media’ page.

I see you have been told time and time again to STOP using Instagram for sources and you are repeatedly ignoring. Please do stop doing so or you risk being banned from editing.

Kind regards Sophies mommy1988 (talk) 15:47, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please use reliable sources! The source you used is unreliable! I also had to fix another one of your mistakes regarding US Virgin Islands.

Hi @Liz, I think there is a reason to be blocked. I was just not made for this and I'm defenitly gonna stop of doing that. I just didn't know that I had a own talk page until y'all told me on the Miss Universe page. I recognized my mistake and I'll try my best in not putting unreliable sources from instagram and not putting details that it doesn't need. I'll let somebody else do it, because I admit that I can't do it. Thank u! Catia108 (talk) 19:00, 23 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Miss Universe Brazil 2024, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Santa Catarina. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
