Nomination of List of known languages for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of known languages is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of known languages until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. William2001(talk) 01:43, 17 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Erin Gustafson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. A tag has been placed on Erin Gustafson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://blog.re-work.co/top-women-in-ai-2019/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Duolingo, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. The Mirror Cracked (talk) 19:02, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi The Mirror Cracked. Thank you for not deleting my additions, and instead putting it as a unsourced-section. I'll do my best to find reliable sources. Also thank you for the recommendation to review the guidelines. I'll do that. And as always, thank you for all the work you're doing to contribute to Wikipedia. I truly appreciate and want to help make Wikipedia become the best it can be. CcfUk2018
Hi again The Mirror Cracked. I was wondering what I could use as a source for release dates? Would it be ok if I could use sources like the incubator (https://incubator.duolingo.com/courses/ru/en/status and other sources like forum posts (forum.duolingo.com)? Let me know what you think. The only issue is that they don't show the course release dates, for example Spanish for English speakers doesn't have a release date on it :( https://incubator.duolingo.com/courses/es/en/status CcfUk2018 (talk) 21:14, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The incubator is a reasonable source, though it is a primary source, and a secondary source would be preferable. The forum is not a reliable source since anyone can edit it. The Mirror Cracked (talk) 21:16, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean. The problem is that there aren't reliable any sources that list when all the courses have been released. If you find any, please let me know. I still think it is worth having the release dates of courses as it means visitors can see how many courses have come out every year. At least that's why I decided to add it. Do you know what I mean? Thanks for replying anyway :) CcfUk2018 (talk) 21:21, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The other thing about that wikia page is that th table is not something anyone can edit. It's automatically updated from the WIS (Weekly Incubato Summary) by a bot, and the WIS is updated by a scripting program as well. For example the Scottish Gaelic release, you can see was released by 2019/12/01. And if you look at the history of the duolingo wikia course list page (https://duolingo.fandom.com/wiki/Course_list?action=history), no-one has edited it since May 19, 2019, which means it was done automatically, and therefore, I think could be considered a reliable source. As always, feel free to let me know your thoughts on the matter. CcfUk2018 (talk) 21:37, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Duolingo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Greek (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

The article Erin Gustafson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

DECAPOLICE moved to draftspace

[edit]

Information icon An article you recently created, DECAPOLICE, is not suitable as written to remain published. An article needs more information and citations from reliable, independent sources to remain in the mainspace. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline, has suitable content and thus is ready for mainspace, click the Submit the draft for review! button atop the article.
