November 2015[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Erick Schat's Bakkerÿ has been reverted.
Your edit here to Erick Schat's Bakkerÿ was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Schats-Bakery/123247701072923) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 17:31, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Bonadea. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Erick Schat's Bakkerÿ because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.

You can't add information about a different bakery by the same name - if the other bakery is notable according to Wikipedia's definition of notability there could be a separate article about it. bonadea contributions talk 17:58, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message on my talk page. One of the basic policies in Wikipedia is verifiability, which means that we can't add information based only on our own knowledge - there has to be a reliable source for all information. (This is not to say that anybody thinks you are an unreliable person - it's simply the way it is here. If the Pope were to come to Wikipedia and add personal information to the article about himself it would most likely be removed if he had no reliable secondary source for it.) In addition, it's not quite clear why it is relevant to the article about this bakery that another bakery that's also called Schat's exists.

If you have other questions about editing Wikipedia, I recommend asking them at the tea house - I'm happy to try to answer any questions, but at the tea house there's always people around so your questions will get answers much more rapidly and perhaps more clearly as well. :-) Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 19:29, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you can't add information about a different company by the same name to the article. As was pointed out to you above, if the other bakery is notable (which means that people who are not connected have written about it in depth - the bakery's own website and facebook page are not enough) it can have a separate article, but the information about it does not belong in the article about a different bakery. Please take a moment and read the information provided above - all the blue links in the text lead to pages with further information about how Wikipedia works. Thank you. --bonadea contributions talk 08:31, 16 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And to respond to what you said on my talk page - no, nothing in what the article said (or what the bakery's own website says) indicates that the same bakery has two locations. The article title is "Erick Schat's Bakkerÿ", not just "Schat's Bakkerÿ", so that is the article's subject. All the sources as well as the bakery's own website talk about the bakery in Bishop, California. The other bakery's listing on the Mammoth Lake website says that it's called "Shea Schat's Bakery" (no cutesy spelling or Icelandic vowels) and makes no reference at all to Eric Schat, the owner's relationship with him, or the bakeries' relationships to each other. --bonadea contributions talk 08:52, 16 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
