Fair use images and lack of rationales

Please stop re-adding fair use images to articles when there is no rationale to do so. I've undone most of your edits, and will undo more most likely later. --Hammersoft (talk) 15:38, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

  • You keep adding [1], and I'll keep removing [2]. There's no rationale for use, and these logos are not the logo of the rivalry anyways. Stop adding them. --Hammersoft (talk) 03:50, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
  • And again you've done so. You have of course been reverted, and will continue to be reverted every time you conduct such a violation of policy. --Hammersoft (talk) 03:30, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Mets-Phillies rivalry

Please do not remove content without specifying a reason. The Phillies and Mets logos are in the public domain and are not covered by fair use guidelines. KV5 (TalkPhils) 17:15, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Mlb postseason 2009.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Mlb postseason 2009.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

Thank you. DASHBot (talk) 04:40, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Copyrighted logos

You must add a fair use rationale to every copyrighted logo you upload. This is not the same as a "this image is copyrighted" box. I did them for you, like at File:Mlb postseason 2009.png, but you must add these for any new files you upload that are copyrighted.  fetchcomms 18:46, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

October 2010

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to Battle of Gonzales has been reverted, as it appears to introduce incorrect information. Please do not intentionally add incorrect information to articles. All information in this encyclopedia must be verifiable in a reliable, published source. If you believe the information that you added was correct, please cite the references or sources or before making the changes, discuss them on the article's talk page. Please use the sandbox for testing. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Diannaa (Talk) 06:24, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

The recent edit you made to Intradivisional rivalries in the American Football Conference constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to remove content from articles without explanation. Thank you. Diannaa (Talk) 06:36, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Helmet switch

Personally, I could care less which is used, but just out of curiosity, why are turning the helmets? Also, you should know that with at least one of them, you've not switched the picture, but actually deleted it. 98.82.190.226 (talk) 20:18, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

I see you've fixed it. 98.82.190.226 (talk) 20:21, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
Now that you're done, the question remains: Why? 98.82.190.226 (talk) 21:37, 27 November 2010 (UTC)
You're a real talkative fellow, aren't you? 98.82.190.226 (talk) 05:39, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

January 2010

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at I-85 Rivalry, you may be blocked from editing. Your additions of non-free content have routinely ignored WP:NFCC #10c requirements. You've been informed of this several times by myself at User_talk:Charlesaaronthompson#Fair_use_images_and_lack_of_rationales above, and by another editor at User_talk:Charlesaaronthompson#Copyrighted_logos. Persisting in this activity will likely lead to a block of your editing privileges. If you are unclear about any of this, ASK, rather than continue to edit in violation of policy. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 16:36, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Seattle SuperSonics road uniforms.gif

Thanks for uploading File:Seattle SuperSonics road uniforms.gif. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Hi. Would you please post to Talk:List of Major League Baseball franchise postseason droughts to give an account of what exactly you did in this edit and why? Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Beltway Series, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Werieth (talk) 21:21, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I saw your changes to the Tim Howard article. Most of them were kosher, but I thought I might mention that Howard played for the MetroStars from 1998 to 2003, during which time, they were never known as the "New York/New Jersey MetroStars". According to the New York Red Bulls article, they dropped that name after the 1997 season. – PeeJay 09:10, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Disambiguation link notification for August 19

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bawitdaba, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nookie. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Due to your extensive editorial involvment in Utah Jazz during the year or so, I hope you might be willing comment at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Trey Burke/archive1, which has been open 19 days without any substantive commentary.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:36, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:New Orleans Jazz logo, 1974-1979.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:College Football Playoff National Championship Trophy.jpg.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy.
