Request reason:

My apologies - I was unaware of the rule that states that multiple accounts are not allowed. I appreciate you bringing that to my attention - it certainly won't happen again. I'd love to answer the questions that you and Phearson have raised on your talk page - you are correct about several things and incorrect about several others. Chicago2011 (talk) 00:01, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Having extensively checked both your editing history and other related matters, I find your unblock request disingenuous, for several reasons. I will describe just one of those reasons, which will be perfectly sufficient to make it clear that all is not as you would have us believe. You claim that you had no idea that use of multiple accounts might be frowned on, you are terribly sorry for your innocent mistake, and now it has been drawn to your attention it certainly won't happen again. Yet seven months ago the issue of sockpuppetry was brought to your attention, and you responded, indicating that you were aware of the issue. You have created at least five more accounts since then, including one which you created within a few hours of writing a message referring to sockpuppetry. How you square that with your claim that you did not know that use of multiple accounts might be frowned on, I do not know. JamesBWatson (talk) 11:57, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I request the reviewing administrator please have a look at the blocking admin's talkpage and decline this request as it does not address him/they going around the block. Chicago or whoever you (they) are need to come clean. Are several people using this account? Why did you not disclose that you (youse?) had their accounts banned before? Why have you refused to request an unblock of your original account? Phearson (talk) 03:24, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Phearson. I am one person, and Chicago2011 is my first Wikipedia account. I created several other accounts with the intent to specialize each one (e.g. use one to edit/create accounts for companies, one to edit nonprofits, one to edit people, etc.). They all kind of morphed together when I realized it wasn't practical to log in and out of each one when I'd go to edit something new. Anyway, I've never had any accounts banned before today - I never saw a rule against maintaining multiple accounts, but now I know that it's against the rules. I'd prefer to just keep this one going. Oh, and I'm definitely not Ankasha G or whatever his/her name is, but I think you know that. Chicago2011 (talk) 03:59, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know you are not, but I was concerned regarding the oversight the Checkuser conducting that case on why the other accounts were not brought up on in the investigation. But since you state that this was your first account, that might be why. Also, he (the blocking admin) has mentioned that you are editing from a known company line. Has your co-workers at the company firm created accounts on the same line to conduct business on behalf their clients? Phearson (talk) 04:31, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Good question. No, I don't think anyone else would have access, as I've created the accounts myself and never share passwords. I've logged on from several different machines (I own multiple laptops, a desktop, and an iPad) and from different locations throughout the past 10 months or so, though. Chicago2011 (talk) 04:38, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Chicago2011/Ocelot7, are there other accounts that you have used, or have all of them been blocked now? Delicious carbuncle (talk) 15:19, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

G5 Criteria applies[edit]

Based on the information here and elsewhere, I am going to have to say that you have lied, and acted un-transparently. Because of this and your block, I have tagged a bunch of articles that you have created under the G5 Criteria and have gone through your other edits and have reverted dubious content. These are the sort of things that happen when you operate in this matter. You need to stick to one account, edit in the interest of Wikipedia and avoid SEO placements such as that one article on Authorized Dish network Providers. As for your block, it may be lifted if you promise to stick to one account, and obey the rules. Phearson (talk) 13:17, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Phearson, you appear to be applying the criteria of WP:G5 retroactively. The userspace drafts were created prior to the user being blocked. You may wish to look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Meghan.reilly for more evidence of why your actions were unhelpful. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 13:37, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am confused here. How are these out-of-process if the user:Meghan.reilly was banned previously? Phearson (talk) 13:58, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not aware of any ban discussion for that user - in fact, they are not currently blocked. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 14:13, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to maintain one account to edit Wikipedia. In fact, if you did go through my edits and the articles I've created, you saw that I've created several articles on notable subjects - if you deemed some of them as not being notable, then I appreciate you removing them. I've never created a new article that didn't have multiple independent sources. I've also contributed by correcting grammar, removing dead links, etc. from dozens of other articles. Also, I'm a bit confused by the talk on previous bans - I don't recall being banned before. Chicago2011 (talk) 21:34, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As I have noted above, User:Meghan.reilly is not blocked, and you are free to edit using that account. Forgive me for pressing you on this point, but you haven't actually answered my question about other accounts. Have you used or created any other accounts? Delicious carbuncle (talk) 23:37, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I should also probably point out that I don't own the accounts Focus or Vegas as was suggested. Chicago2011 (talk) 21:37, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know if those accounts (and/or User:Tenzingnineoneone) belong to someone else from your company? Delicious carbuncle (talk) 23:37, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not meghan.reilly - I don't have access to that account. My accounts are Chicago2011, Baltimore00, Prevention19, Gaebler, and Ocelot7 - I think you already named all those. Like I said before (and as you probably already saw), I've been active on Wikipedia since January or February and I've edited from several different locations and machines, but I don't know of any other Wikipedia accounts from nearby IP addresses. Chicago2011 (talk) 00:13, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Why did this user come up then in Chase's check and the formal SPI? Phearson (talk) 00:44, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know. What's an SPI and what does it show? All I know is I don't have access to that account, so it doesn't help me if that one's unblocked and none of mine are. This is my original account - I created it in January or February of 2011. Chicago2011 (talk) 02:10, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for not notifying you of this, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Meghan.reillyThough your editing behavior was detected by Chase. I just asked for a follow-up after cleaning up. Phearson (talk) 02:51, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Chicago2011[edit]

The following is from user talk:Phearson Phearson (talk) 00:14, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Phearson, this is Chicago2011. I created a new account because I was unable to communicate from the old account. I won't be making any edits from this username, but I wanted to create an account to be able to communicate. I have a few questions for you about Wikipedia rules so that I'm clear and don't cross any boundaries in the future. Would you be willing to take the time to help me out? SquarePotato (talk) 03:35, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is very very simple. If you cannot access your old account via the usual password recovery system for Meghan.reilly, then you need to stick to the Chicago2011 account. You can appeal from that account again if you make it clear that you have forgotten that account's password. And you will stick to THAT ACCOUNT ONLY. As forWP:rules: Read, understand, ask for clarification, but generally, obey. Phearson (talk) 00:13, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Two problems with that. As I've said before, I am not meghan.reilly. I am a guy, for starters, and I don't have access to any account by that name, nor have I ever. Secondly, I'm not able to post from the Chicago2011 account because it's been permanently banned. SquarePotato (talk) 01:03, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the Meghan.reilly account belongs to one of your co-workers? I'm sure there is some reason why it has been connected to your editing. In any case, the person to ask is not Phearson, but User:Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, the admin who blocked you as a sockpuppet of that account. Delicious carbuncle (talk) 03:20, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited YouBar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fergie (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). WikiProject Cooperation[edit]

Hi Chicago2011! I've noticed that you seem to be doing a lot of paid editing lately. This, as you probably know, is fine, but you may wish to familiarise yourself with the conflict of interest guideline if you haven't already, and current best practice would recommend that you reveal your involvement in the articles. However, I particularly wanted to point you to WikiProject Cooperation, as the people there have been doing a lot to assist editors doing this type of work, and they may be of assistance to you. - Bilby (talk) 01:06, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:BillAppleton DF Headshot.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:BillAppleton DF Headshot.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the file discussion page, write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 17:32, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

November 2012[edit]

Hello, Chicago2011. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 16:19, 5 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:VirtualBridges Logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:VirtualBridges Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:14, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
