Tone (literature)[edit]

Hey Cipher821. I noticed you added a hatnote to Tone (literature), but I reverted it. This is because article space (the part that Wikipedia readers see) is reader facing, or meant to appeal to readers not editors.

Also, next time you add a hatnote, use a template like Template:Hatnote. This will suppress the hatnote showing up in article previews. Sungodtemple (talk) 18:25, 6 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Luhn algorithm[edit]

Hello Cipher821!

I noticed you made the following edit to Luhn algorithm: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Luhn_algorithm&diff=prev&oldid=1139089224. I changed it back because your reasoning is false.

Yes, 2*5%10=0 and 2*0%10=0, but that's not what the checksum of this algorithm cares about.

It takes the sum of the digits and not of the products itself, which is explained here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luhn_algorithm#Example_for_computing_check_digit. That's 1 for 2*5=10 and 0 for 2*0=0. That gets reflected in the checksum correctly and thus in the check digit.

I noticed this because the German version doesn't mention this weakness.
