Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Cityonpyre, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your edit to George Latimer (New York politician) does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Questions page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  Dcpoliticaljunkie (talk) 22:03, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... I'm expanding the article about George Latimer, and a fellow editor suggested that the edit I had made violated the rules about NPOV. I could use some help with this. Thank you!

Here's what I originally wrote which was reverted:

In 2019, Latimer faced a lawsuit following a July 2017 car crash in New Rochelle. The collision occurred when Latimer failed to yield at an intersection, causing the driver of the other car "severe and permanent injury." At the time of the crash, Latimer was driving an aide's vehicle; his own car's registration had been suspended because of a high number of unpaid parking tickets.[1]

Here's what I have as a proposed revision:

In 2019, Latimer faced a lawsuit following a July 2017 car crash in New Rochelle. The lawsuit alleged that Latimer had caused the collision by failing, causing the driver of the other car "severe and permanent injury." At the time of the crash, Latimer was driving an aide's vehicle; his own car's registration had been suspended because of a high number of unpaid parking tickets.[2] Cityonpyre (talk) 22:44, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot use the {{help}} templates in a content dispute. You have to work this out on the talk page with your other editors. You also need to more carefully proofread your suggested version. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 23:03, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, I only submitted this because of a link to this template from the other editor on my talk page but if this kind of Help request isn't appropriate for the situation then it's fine to close it. Thanks for the information! Cityonpyre (talk) 23:09, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
