AfD nomination of List of social software

List of social software, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that List of social software satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of social software and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of List of social software during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Spartaz Humbug! 23:19, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Mutation Research

On what basis are you creating articles for the individual journals? We haven't done that even for Physical Review.? DGG (talk) 20:44, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Greetings DGG! I'm basing my WP article creation on individual ISSN numbers. From my perspective (for example), Physical Review is a series of related journals, not a single journal. If this isn't the consensus for the project, let me know so I can avoid future errors. Also, if related journals are to be listed on the same page, then they should probably have seperate infoboxes to help users find unique identifiers like ISSN, CODEN & OCLC numbers, as well as the publications' editors, histories, etc. Thanks! Clifflandis (talk) 15:07, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

journals

By the way, on what basis are you picking the titles to add? . DGG (talk) 20:44, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Greetings! I've been working from the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Academic_Journals lists, including Wikipedia:List of missing journals, [Category:ISSN needed], and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Academic_Journals/Journals_cited_by_Wikipedia. I'm afraid I took a break with Mutation Research and forgot to return to finish the other journals. I'll wait until I hear back from you before I continue with them, though. Thanks! Proposed deletion of Newsrail

The article Newsrail has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Database Project

Just thought I would drop a line, say HI - and cheers for the new look WikiProject Databases page. Looking good :) By the way, does the article alerts section look correct? I was just curious if we should be getting any alerts for DB related pages... I guess it's possible that simply no alerts were raised... Jwoodger (talk) 00:38, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi Jwoodger! Thanks, I'm glad you like the new look (based on Wikipedia:WikiProject Academic Journals). I just tinkered with the Article Alerts to fix what I broke--it should refresh in a few days and let us know if there are any alerts. We can continue talking about the project over on the project talk page. There's lots for us to do!!! Clifflandis (talk) 19:12, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Cliff,

I think I am getting the hang of this. Thank you for your comments. The reason the article was so sparse was because I wanted to get something up. Today, I added some links. Next, I plan to add some references and, perhaps, a web address. Later, I hope to adds to photographs and explanatory boxes. Tip would be appreciated.

WP Libraries

I cannot believe it - I suggested the name and scope was a bit limited a week or so go - forgot it - and hey youre doing it! I can only think of saying thanks at the moment - but hey I cannot get over it! Wow! the project can now pull in so much else rather than those I used to work with all those years ago (bless their socks) and I even still know some living ones... wow and amazing stuff - trust you barnstars and toasts from small gatherings at various places on the planet and similar accolades from various lifeforms acros the galaxies, may the late douglas adams and his improbability issues bless you from afar or near where it may be that it exists. If none of that means anything to you - maybe a simple thanks will suffice SatuSuro 01:25, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

WP:PROD states, under the "Before nomination" section, "Confirm that the article is eligible for proposed deletion by checking that it has: ... not been and is not being discussed at AfD." The deleteion of any article that has already been through AfD is controversial and cannot be deleted through PROD. Also, you stated that you want the article deleted because it is not notable, but the AfD discussion for the article decided that the article was notable. The way to overturn that decision would be to open a new AfD discussion and convince others that the original AfD conclusion was incorrect. -- Atama 19:22, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

I added to "List of educational video websites"

Hi Cliff,

I hope you don't mind. I added some sites to "List of educational video websites". These sites might not be broad as the ones you had identified initially but I believe are worthy of being there. Do you agree?

Regards, Chopo —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chopo11 (talkcontribs) 21:23, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi Chopo. Thanks for your additions. I've cleaned up the page by putting all the entries in alphabetical order (and removing a spam entry). I strongly suggest that you start the Cornell eClips article, since adding the entry to List of educational video websites shows that you think the website should have an article of its own. Let me know if you need any help doing that. Thanks again! Clifflandis (talk) 21:52, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you but I feel that your article Bibliographic record belongs on Wiktionary more than it does here. Let me know Mr. R00t Contact me 00:21, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Hiya Mr. R00t. I'm still working on the Bibliographic record article to flesh it out with a few more resources. Any help in doing so would be very welcome. Although the areas of bibliographic control and cataloging have a tendency to bleed into the concept of the bibliographic record, I do think that it deserves its own article as a unique concept. If, however, after a few days of writing and copyediting I feel that I'm just repeating the content of those articles, I'll gladly port it over to Wiktionary. Let me know what you think! Thanks. Clifflandis (talk) 01:21, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
I was simply saying that because it was a definition. It resembles a quick Dictionary entry more than an Encyclopedia entry. See ya later Mr. R00t Contact me

Notice

The article Marian Busk has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:N. She assisted in the translation of one book, and that's all the sources tell about her. No sources could be found about her life, no sources found telling us of any research she did, books or papers she wrote, plants she discovered, ...

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi, I'm SkyGazer 512. Clifflandis, thanks for creating Marie Zdeňka Baborová-Čiháková!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The article currently contains little prose information, so it will need expansion. The article on the Czech Wikipedia is much longer, so you might be able to expand this article by translating some from that.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

The article does not demonstrate that the subject is sufficiently notable in the Wikipedia sense. Please see WP:ACADEMIC for the specific requirements that would be needed for a biographical article about a scientist. And no, merely describing a number (even a large number) of species is not sufficient; there needs to be extensive third-party coverage of their work, acknowledging their influence on the discipline.

I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Deletion discussion about Shinobu Akiyama

Hello, Clifflandis,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Elmidae and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Shinobu Akiyama should be deleted. Your comments are welcome over Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shinobu Akiyama .

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Elmidae}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello, Clifflandis. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Ekaterina Georgiewna Czerniakowska".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 01:43, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Zachariah A. Rice

On 6 April 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Zachariah A. Rice, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that during the American Civil War, Zachariah A. Rice wrote more than 63 letters to his wife, offering insight into the military life of a Confederate cavalry officer? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Zachariah A. Rice. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Zachariah A. Rice), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hallo, Thank you for creating Frederick Ayer (missionary). When you create an article like this with a "disambiguated" title, please make sure that the reader can find it from the basic name (ie Frederick Ayer), by adding or expanding a hatnote, or adding the article to a disambiguation page. This helps the reader to find your article, and also reduces the chance of a future careless editor creating a duplicate article with a slightly different disambiguator. I've fixed this one (by adding a hatnote at Frederick Ayer which should have been created in a shorter form in 2018 when Frederick Ayer Jr. was first created!). Thanks, and Happy Editing. A tag has been placed on Category:Taxa described by Jessie Milliken indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
