Borough Presidents

Hi, and thanks for setting up that long-overdue table of Queens Borough Presidents, a project I never started (let alone completed). However, should you choose to do the same thing for Staten Island, you might be able to save yourself a little extra work by using my own never-completed table, which you can find at User:Shakescene/sandbox7. District Attorney redirects

Thanks for correcting those redirects. I hadn't realised that the boroughs of New York City were individual counties, and that NYC wasn't solely located in NY county. Thanks, I couldn't decide whether or not to list them for deletion or to try and create stubs. We're probably better off deleting them and recreating them later. Perfect game lead image caption

All in all, I'd be happier if the phrase were not included, on the basis of encyclopedic tone, but Madden's line is representative of the general view of the picture in the realm of baseball literature and history. More importantly, I think the retention of the phrase serves an important role in maintaining the stability and quality of the article. There has been no controversy over the image's inclusion since it was restored to the article four months ago under proper licensing and a detailed fair use rationale, and I think the quote and citation are a large part of the reason why. There is a coterie of inexperienced and misinformed editors who go gunning for fair use lead images such as this without even vetting the rationales—in my experience, the sort of caption we currently have is an effective deterrent against most of them.—DCGeist (talk) 20:06, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As a member of WikiProject Connecticut, you are invited to participate in the WikiProject Connecticut AUTUMN 2010 Photo Contest!

Rules:

  • You must take the picture yourself; adding public domain pictures (i.e. postcards from pre-1923 that are on a website) will NOT count. The picture cannot already exist on Wikipedia, in Commons, etc.
  • The picture must be of something notable for a CT rated article and be of decent quality.
  • You may not add more than 5 pictures to any one article during the contest.
  • All photos must be uploaded and added to their articles. If it wasn't added to the article and titled, it doesn't count.

Cassoulet

Howdy, If you look at the very bottom of the discussion page for Cassoulet, you'll see the post I made back in March about the issue - titled "Problem with history". I got distracted with other matters and never made the change, so when I saw that no one had commented since then I thought it was safe to change. Do you have anything that supports the contention that Cassoulet dates back to the 14th century? I don't feel Dining Chicago is a credible source - a lot of people claim their favorite food was around in Medieval times, but few have any real evidence to support it.

I've declined your speedy under A9 of that compilation (whose name I've forgotten already...). It's not that I think it's a valuable work of art - it's that A9, in my opinion at least, can't apply to a compilation. Anyway, most, if not all, of the performers were blue-linked. (Personally, I've never possessed one of that type of record, and can't understand why people buy them.) If you still feel it's not worth a place here, I'd suggest prod or AfD. Compilations and other odd records, yes, they need to be clarified. I might not be right on this. (Some people have thought I'm not right for years...) There was a record up for speedy recently that I declined on because it didn't have a performer on one side (just odd noises), and the other side was demos - of stereo. It was a demo and test record. (Went to AfD and I think got merged somewhere.) Speedy doesn't cover everything, anyway. You can speedy a Church but not a church. (Church is a group of people, church is stone or brick or whatever.) You can speedy a website, but not the software that operates it. Mixtapes need some clarifying, too. Peridon (talk) 22:55, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
