Welcome to Wikipedia![edit]

Hello ContagiousTruth, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

You might like some of these links and tips:

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, --Alf melmac 11:10, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mortal Kombat: Unchained has been proposed for deletion. Please see the article for details. NickelShoe 16:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Might I ask why you restored the Noob Smoke article? It's redundant, as there is already a page devoted to each character. We discussed this in the wikipedia project. Shadaloo 22:27, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your RFA[edit]

Hi, I just voted on your RFA, as you might have seen. I'm sorry, but I have to vote oppose, you don't have enough edits to see what kind of editor you are and how you'd handle conflicts with other editors like you'd run into when you were an admin. I hope I haven't discouraged you too much, you might be very suitable to become an admin in a few months, but for now my suggestion would be to withdraw your nomination, because I suspect the oppose votes will pile on, sorry. --JoanneB 12:16, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RC/Newpage patrols[edit]

OK this is the long and short of them, basically newpage and recent page patrol is boring, thankless work. Recent page patrol is easy, monitoring the recent changes which is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Recentchanges and reverting vandalism. I'd suggest turning off registerd users since 99% of vandalism is from IP addresses. Newpage patrol is at Special:Newpages and involved looking for questionable pages that were created and marking them with {{prod}} or a speedy deletion tag. ITs late and this is just a short answer ill be happy to answer and any all questions with it/write a better description tomorow for you. Do you want to withdraw your RfA? Joe Seanoa / Samoa Joe[edit]

Hello. I moved Joe Seanoa back to Samoa Joe on the basis of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people), which states:

"...the name of an article should be "the most common name of a person or thing that does not conflict with the names of other people or things". This boils down to the two central ideas in Wikipedia article naming:

the name that is most generally recognisable the name that is unambiguous with the name of other articles"

While Samoa Joe is a "character", it is also Seanoa's ring name / stage name, and the name the majority of people would associate with him. Articles relating to actors and singers with non-legal stage names (e.g. Madonna (entertainer)) generally follow similar conventions. McPhail 22:07, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up, PWI for deletion[edit]

Hey, as an FYI your PWI Top 500's are proposed for deletion. Just letting you know so you have the chance to improve the articles so that they are acceptable according to the deletion policy. (Edit: from BigNate37)

Thanks for the heads up. I would have contacted you if you had signed your post. I took care of it and created one large new article with all the "out of context" information placed well into context. Clint 06:42, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops, still not completely in the habit of signing posts. Might I suggest, time permitting, you remove the HTML (no need for line breaks) and use # for automatic numbered lists? Just a suggestion. Anyways, good luck in your editing. BigNate37 07:18, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No biggie, I sometimes forget to sign posts myself. I'm going to go ahead and pass on those numbered lists. While it might be a better option in terms of wikifying the page, I just don't know how to do it without a ton of work... I'm really not up for deleting numbers and entering a # for 7500 items. Regarding the Move of Pirates of the Caribbean[edit]

Why exactly did you move this article? For an article with significance such as the attraction, that really should have been discussed first. Secondly, you stated it should be better-suited as a disambiguation page (although there already WAS a disambiguation page linked to at the top of the page), while it appears that you just made it a redirect. You did not take the time to discuss this first. Somebody did propose moving it, but nobody has yet replied to it or agreed with that. And because you created a new article titled Pirates of the Caribbean, the article cannot be moved back to that title. I do not appreciate this move. --Lyght 01:45, 24 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Chapel_2.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Chapel_2.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it, but use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. BanyanTree 03:51, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Mortal Kombat edits[edit]

Thank you for your recent contributions to one of Wikipedia's Mortal Kombat articles. Given the interest you've expressed by your edits, have you considered joining the Mortal Kombat WikiProject? It's a group dedicated to improving the overall quality of all Mortal Kombat articles. Here's some project-specific information for you:

If you have any questions, see the help pages, ask at the MK project talk page, or feel free to ask me on my talk page. EVula 15:40, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invite. I was a member of WikiProject Mortal Kombat, but have been dropped several times because I didn't make the bi-monthly "call". After returning my name to the list several times, I gave up. I just checked and apparently my name is still up there for some reason, so I'm ok with that. Clint 23:05, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of my suggestion[edit]

I would like your opinion about the notion that I was "spamming" you by leaving you a message on your Talk page (which was, in turn, deleted by another user who determined it to be spam). Please comment, if you'd like, under my question for the folks at WikiProject Spam. Seems to me that they're going a bit too far censoring Wikipedia users from even TALKING to each other on a Talk page, if there's an external link involved. Was I helpful to you at all, or merely an annoyance? --JossBuckle Swami 17:27, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I found your efforts very helpful, but I probably won't be taking up your offer due to a lack of time. My contributions to Wikipedia as it is have been severely dwindling due to everything else I'm currently busy with. As far as spamming goes, I didn't feel that what you did was spamming, but rather a very good-intentioned gesture to help get information out for the people. I'm sorry to hear that it was removed, and I'm going to have to ask Gwernol not to remove messages on my page again. Clint 01:14, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:TNA images[edit]

TNA may allow it, but Wikipedia image policies forbid the use of fair use images in articles on living people. Wikipedia policy still doesn't allow it, even if copyright laws allow it. -- The Hybrid 22:57, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Christmas Chaos.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Christmas Chaos.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Non-free use disputed for Image:Fritz Von Erich.jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Fritz Von Erich.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 18:22, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:XWF_DVD.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:XWF_DVD.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 20:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From the Editor

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.

This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.

That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.

Nexus (Mortal Kombat)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nexus (Mortal Kombat), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Nexus (Mortal Kombat). Hi there, I saw that you changed my edit back to something saying that Strake Jesuit is "legally" classified as an art museum. It's not clear to me what a "legal" art museum is, who the classifying authority is, etc. If you have a source, please bring it forward. Thanks. Also, if you would, try to use edit summaries for edits -- I had to look back through the diffs to see what it was that you did. — e. ripley\talk 21:13, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Krypt[edit]

A tag has been placed on Krypt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. Image copyright problem with File:Onyx Elite Guard.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Onyx Elite Guard.jpeg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of Kanto Gym Leaders. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Kanto Gym Leaders. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:17, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Ambassador Program in Houston[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian from Houston. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors from the Houston area, to help with Wikipedia assignments at Texas Southern University. Classes at TSU will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester, and the role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone in Houston who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page. Thanks!--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 20:12, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for February 5[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Our Lady of Walsingham (Catholic Church), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chancery. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:42, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Hernandez Elite Guard.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hernandez Elite Guard.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 12:02, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You uploaded, File:Onyx Collyer Elite Guard.jpg, where you either stated or implied that you had permission of a third party to upload it; or that evidence of such permission would be provided on request.

Wikipedia currently needs the permission to be explicit and proven at the time of upload.

Please read Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission, which advises on how to confirm the permission you obtained from a third party.

It is also advisable to ask the third-party what source attribution they desire, as opposed to marking the image as having been "sent personally". Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:23, 10 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:TNA Impact Community.gif[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:TNA Impact Community.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
