Hawaiian numerals[edit]

You made an edit to the "Hawaiian language" page, indicating that the Hawaiian forms kahi, lua, kolu, hā, lima, ono, hiku, walu, iwa, and -hulu are "wrong" in your word(s). You added an initial e- to the root forms, and replaced -hulu with `umi.

Your changes are incorrect. The table shows the ROOT forms that are COGNATE with Tongan, Tagalog, and Proto Austronesian. The Hawaiian roots for "one" through "nine" are in some circumstances used with an `e- prefix. The prefix is NOT part of the root. It has NOTHING at all to do with the meanings of the roots. The root forms are in some circumstances used WITHOUT the `e- prefix. For example, "eleven" is `umikūmāKAHI, not `umikūmā`EKAHI. And "thirty" is kanaKOLU, not kana`EKOLU. The Hawaiian word `umi for "ten" is NOT COGNATE with the ancestral forms reflected by Tagalog puʔ and PAN puluq. The note immediately below the table explains the Tongan and Hawaiian cognates for "ten" that are used in the table.

The inital e- that you added to the root forms is wrong in another way. The prefix is NOT a plain, single, letter e. It is a TWO-letter prefix beginning with the glottal stop. Another version of the same prefix is `a-, again beginning with a glottal stop.

Please read carefully, and study the relevant forms in the Hawaiian dictionary BEFORE you jump to the incorrect conclusion that something is "wrong" in your eyes. In the 1986 version of Pukui and Elbert's Hawaiian Dictionary, you'll find kahi for "one" on page 111, and you'll find lua for "two" on page 213. I'll let you look up the rest.

stfu. i dont really care. because it doesent even say hawaiian ROOT WORDS. and hawaiian for 10 is UMI. you just put somthin else because you want it to seem to relate to the other languages.

you dont need to be a "Female Dog" about it. :] Coojah 03:18, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ RIGHT BACK AT YOU, COOJAH! :] @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

There are THREE different forms that carry the meaning of "ten" in Hawaiian. It's NOT just `umi. `Umi is only one of the three forms. Another form is -hulu, as used in the Hawaiian word ana-hulu which means a measure of "ten days" (Pukui & Elbert 1986:23-24). Another form is kana- which means "ten times" (Pukui & Elbert 1986:126). For example, kana- is used with kolu "three" in the word kana-kolu which means "ten times three", in other words "thirty" (Pukui & Elbert 1986:127). It's used the same way for 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90.

You should pay attention to the fact that 30 is NOT "`umi-kolu", and 40 is NOT "`umi-hā", etc. Likewise, "ten days" is NOT "ana-`umi", and it's NOT "ana-kana". It's only ana-hulu, because only -hulu is the correct form for "ten" in that word.

The form `umi- is used for 11-19, as in `umi-kūmā-kahi "eleven" (Pukui & Elbert 1986:371), `umi-kūmā-lua "twelve", etc. These numbers are NOT "kana-kūmā-kahi" or "kana-kūmā-lua", nor "hulu-kūmā-kahi" or "hulu-kūmā-lua".

Each of the THREE different forms for "ten" in Hawaiian (hulu, `umi, kana) is used correctly ONLY in its own proper place. The only one of these forms that is cognate with Proto Austronesian puluq, and Tagalog puʔ, is the Hawaiian form -hulu, NOT `umi, and NOT kana.

So when you are wrong you resort to profanity and insults, in hypocrisy to your claim of being a Catholic. And you say you are Hawaiian, Filipino, and Chinese, but you act like you hate Filipino people and Chinese people because you don't want Hawaiian to be related to them. So you must hate your religion. And you must hate your parents. And you must hate yourself.

Thier you go again being a FEMALE DOG. You dont know me. I love ALL my cultures more then you will ever know. &yea im catholic so what? Image copyright problem with Image:BenedictXVI_Holy.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BenedictXVI_Holy.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

Edit summary[edit]

Hi.

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

"Link spamming"[edit]

Hi! Your contributions are welcome, but the "Effinhot" entry is a speedy deletion candidate as "link spam." In other words, it doesn't say much about the site, establishes no notability and serves as a placeholder for the external link. Nothing personal and it isn't being deleted because of its subject matter. - Lucky 6.9 02:02, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't create sockpuppet accounts in an attempt to recreate deleted materiial. Looks really bad when you do that. Thanks. - Lucky 6.9 02:08, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Benedetto XVI 6.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:Benedict erminemozzetta.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Benedict erminemozzetta.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. License tagging for Image:KamehamehaStatue.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KamehamehaStatue.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Hi there, I wanted to let you know that I undid your change to the Andrea Martin article and moved the image back. The image is being used under the fair use doctrine to illustrate Martin's character, Aunt Voula, not Martin herself. As such, the image should go with the section of the article in which it discusses her role rather at the top of the page where it would be illustrating Andrea Martin and would not meet Wikipedia's fair use criteria. If you have any comments, feel free to respond at my talk page. —ShadowHalo 03:44, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
