Hey.

Just to let you know, I responded to your proposal to delete the article Flying Colors (software). My response can be found here. Interlude 65 17:09, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Confused

I didn't realize we were in conflict and am quite surprised to see that mentioned at your RfA. Just saying. If we were, why did I spend so much time giving you a peer review? And quite frankly I can do without the comments at the bottom on this diff.[1] It only fuels a fire that you may be unaware of. Truthkeeper (talk) 16:36, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

  • We had been in conflict, and I apologize for it. My replies to you were brash and often uncalled for. You did a fantastic peer review, and I thank you for that.
Regarding Jack... he seems to have a positive impression of me, perhaps because we are both active in Indonesia-related areas. However, there is nothing I can do to control him, and the guideline doesn't seem to allow editing / removing his comments in this situation. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:45, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
  • What I meant, is that I didn't regard that situation as a conflict between the two or us, nor do I think you need to apologize. It was a nasty situation that blew up, involved a number of editors, many of whom became quite defensive (myself included) and then settled down. In that sense I was surprised to see my name specifically brought up at RfA. You should have said something to me on my talk earlier if you thought we were in conflict. I'm basically a pretty nice person, often impatient and grouchy because I'm frequently busy and doing too much, but I'm always willing to hash things through. Truthkeeper (talk) 23:58, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Oh, alright. I felt guilty about it and (I think) neglected to mention it to you before the peer review. Indeed, the entire 2 weeks was something that I am not keen to repeat, especially since that came after a prolonged Wikibreak. Thank you for that, it makes me feel better. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:20, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Staggeringly vulgar farces beloved of degraded and decaying WP contributors

Thank you so much for getting Leo Franklyn on the front page today. If you can find some way of getting the quotation about moustaches and beards from the spin-off Simple Spymen there I shall be more in your debt than I know how to say. (Vulgar, moi?)

  • I'll try, but a bit about critical reception would help the article immensely. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:05, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Would you like to expand this by a few paragraphs and turn it into a 'special report' for this week? Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 01:25, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

  • I'd certainly like to try. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:27, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
  • (edit conflict) Looking good! I like your ideas for expansion. Have you considered adding a little on the history behind the women's movement (for lack of a better descriptor) on Wikipedia? That is where this whole event spawned from, after all, and that will allow us to link to related SP coverage. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 04:24, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Crisco, when you have a chance, could you crop File:Liz Freeman with scarf.jpg a bit? I just uploaded it to replace a picture for an FAC that I couldn't find the original publication date for.13:05, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Old vandalism

I just reverted some vandalism from December 2009. It really blows my mind when I find stuff that old. Well, I got my latest project into article-space, Clarence 13X. He was the "gambling god" (a gambler who believed he was Allah incarnate). I figured that I'd put it up for GA and PR at the same time, I'll see how it works out. Mark Arsten (talk) 04:23, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Hmm, time to sneak a peak. Sounds interesting. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:54, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Don't forget to nom for DYK! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:02, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Yeah, there are a few ways that I could go with the hook, need to give it some thought. Mark Arsten (talk) 14:35, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Alrighty. I'm pooped. Had to prepare end of term tests for my students. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:38, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

DYK

Why did you "un-promote" Template:Did you know nominations/Church of Saint Oswald, King and Martyr, Oswaldkirk? If there is an issue with the hook or picture I would like to know so I can fix it. Thanks :) --Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 15:31, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

  • Nothing wrong with the article/hook that I saw. I just edit conflicted with someone while building the prep, and that meant the article was not properly promoted. Rather than risk it being forgotten, I decided to unclose it. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:01, 1 June 2012 (UTC)
  • I'll post at the talk too, as I cannot edit the queues. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:47, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • That was a pretty good suggestion, thanks. I hadn't realised that you couldn't edit the queues, I already thought of you as an admin :) --Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 11:14, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Nope, not yet. We'll see though. You're welcome. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 11:49, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Well, you're on what, 90%? Difficult call...and okay, I don't know whether there is precedent for moving the hooks to accommodate the local time of the article, but it seems it will get a larger, more interested audience, especially with those who live near or attend the church; I'm meeting some of them for the Queen's jubilee celebrations this afternoon, and I guess they would find it better if they could actually see it when it was on the main page :) Anyway, pretty neat idea.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 11:59, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Oh, there's precedent, and with a bit of forewarning it can be timed very well. QRpedia was on the main page during its debut in Britain, and an article on a German... composer, if I remember correctly... was on the main page during his funeral. I wouldn't doubt that this hook gets moved forward, just might need to wait a bit. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:02, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • on day of funeral: artist Bernhard Blume (thank you!) and physicist Guido Dessauer (don't remember who did that one, perhaps you also, ever efficient!), - the composers I know enjoy being alive, I will sing a little premiere by one tomorrow in concert, along with Lux Aurumque, Agnus Dei and others, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:15, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • My apologies to your composer friends. Yeah, that's the one. I think I may have helped with Dessauer too, but I forget. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:18, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • No worries, they will not read this ;) - There was also the fifth anniversary of the death of Tatiana von Metternich (my pic of her grave made it to the Russian WP) and the 80th birthday of Walter Fink, to celebrate. To come in 2012: the 150 anniversary of one of my choirs, 3 October, Colin Mawby composed a Mass for the occasion, DYK? ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:26, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Oh, if there are sources... sure. Speaking of classic music, Tim has been doing great work on several subjects in the area. You should peek at Pierre Monteux — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:40, 2 June 2012 (UTC)
  • Oh, okay, I didn't know that. Thanks. I'm off to a jubilee celebration now, so I'll see if I can drop it into conversation with any interested parties...--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 12:03, 2 June 2012 (UTC)

expect a lot of grief from me now - I'll start searching out the horror stories from inside the indonesian project now you have the tools - oh well youll get me nostalgic for jalan solo and the kalasan to prambanan mad stretch - better practise my obscure javanese slang terms from yogya stuff from the era when you were born probably :) - or maybe haul out my fieldwork photos and upload em onto commons and find reasons to make the jl solo/maguwo corner a notable road junction in yogya :) (actually it was very close to where adiscupito got shot down during ww2) - dan lain lain - so apart from all that enjoy it all - keep those indonesian film articles going - nothing short of brill in my estimation... all the best SatuSuro 13:05, 3 June 2012 (UTC)
