Hogging move[edit]

Hi Crookesmoor! I noticed that you moved Hogging to the disambiguated title Hogging (sexual practice). Are you intending to create a new article for another meaning of Hogging? Thanks, DoubleBlue (Talk) 03:07, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see. Yes, I agree that is probably a better main article though it's a little unorthodox to disambiguate when the article titles are not the same. Still, I think it's probably best. I'll add a WP:Hatnote to the Hogging and sagging article. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 03:20, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He, he. You did it already. Well done! DoubleBlue (Talk) 03:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Little context in Quantity balance method[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Quantity balance method, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Quantity balance method is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Quantity balance method, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 09:20, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Bacobens Rock Top 500[edit]

A tag has been placed on Bacobens Rock Top 500 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. A tag has been placed on Jag Kanchana Singh requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

Proposed deletion of Jag Kanchana Singh[edit]

The article Jag Kanchana Singh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Sorry for the lady, but a local eccentric gone missing is not encyclopedia material.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Favonian (talk) 16:34, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Jag Kanchana Singh, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jag Kanchana Singh. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ThaddeusB (talk) 21:44, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article is a summary of the Liverpool, not a place where every single event that happens is recorded. This event has absolutely no relevance to this article, this article summarises the main events in the club's history, its PR official having a meeting with a fan in a coffee shop is not one of them. The article Richard Rhodes (police commissioner) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Premier League[edit]

Hello Crookesmoor. I've just seen that you moved the Premier League article to Men's Premier League. This was an extremely poor decision - this is not the name of the league, and you must have realised that it would be controversial. Could I ask why you thought it was a good idea? The Moor: street & quarter[edit]

   Hi, and thanks for contributing!
When two articles are merged, there are some non-obvious needs that must be met, and in the case of The Moor and The Moor Quarter, repair is needed. I am not raising any objection to your merge proposal, but implementing it involves steps whose necessity you presumably weren't aware of.
I'm proceeding with replacing your Rdr at The Moor with a Dab page, since this is easily reversible if i'm missing something that you'll be in a position to point out. In addition to that, there will be some attribution issues (arising under our copy-left provisions) to be solved, and if you are willing, i'll be able take care of them more efficiently with some advice and perhaps assistance from you.
If you don't mind, let's keep both sides of our discussion here on your talk page; i'll keep an eye out for your changes to this section so i can still respond promptly.
  Fruitful editing,

TemplateData is here[edit]

Hey Crookesmoor

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:15, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Villa Park[edit]

Hello, and thanks for your explanation in the edit summary. Thing is, Villa Park is a featured article, so there are a few problems with the banner thing. The first is that information must be reliably sourced. Even if the wording were readable from the panorama, which it isn't really, all that photo verifies is that when it was taken, those words were being displayed. It doesn't verify that they're a permanent part of the stadium's structure and facilities or indicate their importance. If they really are significant enough to include, they need a brief explanation for the benefit of the general reader rather than just listing, and if they're really "famous quotes", they ought to be attributed to whoever's being quoted. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:01, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know, in case you hadn't already spotted it, the text was removed again by another editor who started a discussion on its inclusion at Talk:Villa Park#Banner. Your input welcome. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:10, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Megabusplus Logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Megabusplus Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 13:15, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Consulting Association blacklist article[edit]

Hi there,

I hope this is the right / best way to send you a message. I'm doing so because I've just make a fair-sized edit to the Consulting Association article, which we both edited yesterday.

I thought it needed a good clean up to make the article more cohesive and readable - I've tried to maintain and respect your edits, but I ended up writing several hundred words, so they may have got lost in the noise.

I don't really understand why you made the edits you did about it being a "business" not an "organisation" - I'd be really grateful if you could clarify on the talk page if you know more than I do. I've spent several hours last night reading newspaper articles and parliamentary reports, and I have no reason to believe that Kerr "owned" or controlled TCA - it just seems like a legal structure established by McAlpine or all the construction companies in order to mutually fund the blacklisting scheme.

Also, I'm freakin' knackered, but I don't think that the Droitwich location of Kerr's office is so important as to warrant inclusion in the opening paragraph of the article.

Thanks for your help,

Stroller (talk) 11:07, 14 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.manchestersportandleisure.org/about-us.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. The article UTC@MediaCityUK has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:TOOSOON - wait until the institution opens. If the institution will not offer the equivalent of a United States "High school diploma" or the equivalent of a bachelor's or higher degree, consider that as grounds to not have the article even after the school opens unless additional evidence of notability is provided.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

A tag has been placed on List of bus routes in Greater Manchester, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi Crookesmoor, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. As I was pondering this last night, it crossed my mind that a general article covering features/data/layout of computer-era tickets might be good. I will reuse an old sandbox, User:Hassocks5489/Phillips, to put together some ideas. I can dig out references. Also will put that new infobox design there. I should have a chance to start some proper work on these articles over the weekend – this week was busier than expected! Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Dulwich Hamlet Matter[edit]

Following your decision to report me, I had a rethink about this information. First of all, I never removed the information, I simply shifted the club's name into a point within the episode's "Notes" section. However, after spending a day thinking over this, I decided to revise it back to how you had set it out before, albeit with a minor change in wording as is present with the current revision. The only thing I should point out, is that you may have wanted to have included reference links to prove that was the club's stadium that was featured; I decided to include that as well.

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to The Glades (Bromley), without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. –Davey2010Talk 15:13, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of The Greater Manchester University Technical College[edit]

The article The Greater Manchester University Technical College has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I believe this is a diploma mill or fake school trading off the name of Manchester University and trying to telescope as many search terms into its name as possible. Its official web address is .co.uk which would not be the case for a bona fide educational establishment which tends to have ac.uk or org.uk depending on whether it is provided by the UK government/local authority via the UK domain name registrar (for the first), or administered by the school itself (for the second). It would be unlikely to be .co.uk. More reasons over at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2016 May 3#RM, but I am going to kick this off sooner rather than later before I have done much more homework. That it is next to (but not on the campus of Bolton College is also suspicious. Could be genuine but is doing its best not to seem so. It is formally (not formerly) the "The Greater Manchester Sustainable Engineering University Technical College", according to its lede, which packs one more word (Engineering) into the search engine (and Google indeed finds it as top hit). Barely any credible info there and no references, so deleting per WP:SCHOOL is the most likely thing to do, but this seems to me to border on the fraudulent.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. While I'm not saying that you were wrong to do so (and please don't feel that you were), I have started a discussion on the article's talk page about whether the "district" in the title should be spelled with a small 'd' and be enclosed within parentheses, or if it should be spelled with a capital 'D' and without parentheses enclosing it.

The article Copa90 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Absolutely no indication of notability whatsoever. If producing stuff for Instagram made a firm notable, then surely all Instagram users by extension are also notable. Anyone can produce stuff for their own website - I publish music reviews every week - but that doesn't make them notable.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello Crookesmoor, hope you are well. Apologies but I have very restricted computer access at the moment because of domestic renovation work (I've logged on at work to send this!). I think something like National Rail ticket redesign might be suitably generic. (Incidentally if I get time, I can substantially expand the article now that we're two years down the line with the actual rollout (i.e. beyond the limited Parkeon trial on Northern). I'll put it on my to-do list. Not sure when I will get my home PC back up and running, so this may be some way off yet.) Cheers, Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 13:30, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Peter Taylor (British politician) has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Charlie Hedges moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Charlie Hedges, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Jalen D. A tag has been placed on Clore Duffield Foundation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.drsallybaker.com/uncategorized/notice-re-discussions-about-this-blog/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
