Welcome to the Wikipedia![edit]

Welcome to the Wikipedia, Curlywhirly! And thanks for weighing in on the Bipolar disorder article discussion. Hope you enjoy editing here and becoming a Wikipedian! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:

And some odds and ends: Boilerplate text, Brilliant prose, Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Utilities, Verifiability, Village pump, Wikiquette, and you can sign your name on any page by typing 4 tildes: ~~~~.

Best of luck, Curlywhirly, and have fun! Ombudsman 06:07, 16 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the welcome, but I had to do some investigating to discover that you are just a regular editor, and do not have an official position as "Ombudsman". The lack of clarity makes me very uncomfortable. I would encourage you change your name. Curlywhirly 02:19, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting quotes[edit]

I think your "I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is. ~ Anon" probably came from (or at least was eloquently fleshed out in) Pascal's Wager. :) Chris 04:27, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You! Your comment made me take a closer look at the quote instead of just using it from another site I saw, and I did a little searching. It certainly does fit with Pascal, but I found it at http://en.thinkexist.com/quotation/i_would_rather_live_my_life_as_if_there_is_a_god/221974.html and apparently it is by Albert Camus. Thank you for getting me going looking for that. Curlywhirly 18:25, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: Bipolar article[edit]

Thanks for your comment on my talk page. My contributions were largely a precautionary measure to make sure that the article remains factually accurate as more cleanup and refining is done to it. If I have time I may add a section showing the other side, though it is somewhat doubtful. Thanks anyway. NorseOdin 01:09, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bi-polar editorializing[edit]

Exactly my point, Curly. I don't have anything against Mcman, I have a problem with a failure of facts and the poor presentation of those facts that past muster. That said, collaborate away, that's what I'm here for. I've got a full patient load and hospital ward to look after...I honestly don't have the time for anything unproductive. --Mjformica 16:56, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Curlywhirly[edit]

Very good to hear from you and hope you and your family are doing well. I am very sorry to have exposed you to all this. I ask you to check the bottom of the discussion page on the clinical depression article and see for yourself whether mjformica has anything against me.

As one of my readers, you know I do not suffer from "failure of facts and poor presentation."

I am just coming out of a severe depression, which is one reason my Newsletters have been few and far between lately. I have a huge backlog to clear, and the last thing I need right now is the kind of harrassment and abuse I have been recently exposed to.

Part of my backlog includes linking to your site. I haven't significantly updated the site since Oct when I went into my depression, so please don't think I've forgotten you.

On a positive note, I have a book coming out in November, to be published by Harper Collins. In a few days I will be celebrating my second anniversary. I am very fortunate to have found a partner who is so loving and understanding. On a lighter note, my wife and I recently started up a cats only website, no dogs or humans allowed. Holly, affectionately known as Monkey Pants, does the writing, we do the typing. The site's not ready for prime time, but I invite you to check it out at www.hollymonkeypants.com.

Next time we talk, I trust it will be on something upbeat and positive. All the best -

Survey Request[edit]

Hi,
I need your help. I am working on a research project at Boston College, studying creation of medical information on Wikipedia. You are being contacted, because you have been identified as an important contributor to one or more articles.

Would you will be willing to answer a few questions about your experience? We've done considerable background research, but we would also like to gather the insight of the actual editors. Details about the project can be found at the user page of the project leader, geraldckane. Survey questions can be found at geraldckane/medsurvey. Your privacy and confidentiality will be strictly protected!

The questions should only take a few minutes. I hope you will be willing to complete the survey, as we do value your insight. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Professor Kane if you have any questions.

Thank You, Sam4bc (talk) 22:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
